Colfax City was our usual go-to pit stop on the way to Tahoe and Reno. Quality/Quantity - Is it me or are the burgers and sandwiches getting smaller? Today we got: Filet O Fish $6.19 20 piece Spicy McNuggets - $6 promotion, too spicy for my daughter but perfect for me. Buy one McDouble for $4.19 and get a McChicken for $1 - My daughter ate both of these, she would not even give me one. I also think she was still hungry after eating both and then started eating my McNuggets, lol. Wanted fries, but I was good again today and did not get it... Atmosphere - Congrats on the remodel, looks so much better. Thank you. Indoor/outdoor seating. Plenty of parking today even with the rush of all the CA trying to go home after the storm. Double drive thru. Wifi. Mobile ordering, self service kiosk - Which crashed on my first try. Service - Okay. They seemed more frugal now...? New management/ownership? Would not give the person in front of me more napkins, nor us... Self service kiosk - So service was GREAT once I got one to work. Price - $19. Food was fresh and good. Manager was kind enough to make my son hashbrowns who is on the spectrum and our snow chains broke so we were late for breakfast. The best part was an amazing employee, Juan I believe who was so helpful and kind, helped remove my broken snow chains safely( and even declined the $20 I tried to give him. All staff was so kind and good here, and honestly I feel like Juan should be recognized for going above and beyond with integrity and good character. The food is the standard. It's a shame that in the past weeks they cancelled the dine in service, and now everything is "to go".

Went through the drive thru for 2 coffees with 3 creams at 9:45 am. Paid at the first window. Pulled up to the second window & was met with a mouthy girl named Diana with eyelashes longer than your arm & wearing more makeup than they sell at CVS. Said I had to pull around & wait for the coffee because she had other customers waiting. Unbelievable that they pay her $20 an hour to lose customers. I won't be back. So the time we got there and put in our order on the board, although you could have a guy wait on you, we put in our order, got our food, and they were really nice and pleasant. It is a nice place to eat at because it's right there nest in the mountains of California, I recommend this place. All digital, but the kiosk don't work plus no one comes to help. Tried 2, no luck. Pushed button for assistance. No one showed up. Finally the 3rd one took my order. I paid at the kiosk but no receipt. If you're going all "digital " make sure ALL the kiosks are working. Maybe respond to the "need assistance" button. read more

We have been visiting this McDonald's for several years now and it is, hands down, the best McDonald's ever. The food seems carefully prepared and the bread is always fresh. But, by far, the customer service is amazing. Every employee is a pleasure to interact with. Our family is always wondering what this McDonald's does differently from others-- do they have a special customer service training ? My husband and I ordered classic chicken sandwich to go. When we opened to eat half way down the road it was a very dry piece of chicken no mayo or sauce and two pickles. I chocked down half but then realized it was not worth the pain. Not good! read more

The 4-star is for the person who was handling drive thru. He was so cheery, took care of our customized order and answered our questions! The iced coffee we got tasted burned and we forgot to lessen the ice in our order as it was basically half ice, but that man just made my day. It's also an okay alternative when you realize the Starbucks nearby is closed early and need a caffeine pick me up and it's just right off of the freeway so it's a quick exit and jump right back onto the road. read more

We came on the way back from our snow trip. I stopped by especially for the McDonald's Squishmallows happy meal because the kids were bugging me about it for days. I had called ahead to see if they had it and a male team member confirmed they had it. I asked on the phone if they might have a shark or pineapple and he said to stop by and they could look. When I arrived, I ordered four happy meals and told the female cashier that my daughter really wanted the pineapple or the bee Squishmallow and my son wanted a shark. I ordered a total of four happy meals along with other food items and she helped look for the Squishmallows the kids wanted. They are wrapped in white plastic packaging but you can kind of see the tag through the plastic. We got the bee and shark and two other different ones (cat and hedgehog) so the kids and their cousins were very excited and pleased. I would give this McDonald's location five stars for providing excellent service. The toys meant a lot to the kids. Aside from the happy meals, our other food orders came out as ordered in a timely manner, everything was correct ( it was a little complicated) and the food was good! read more

I've been to many McDonald's in my life but had to write a review for this Colfax location. We stopped in around 10:30am on Sunday on our way up to Reno. Similar to all of the new McDonalds they have self order Kiosks and two cashiers taking orders. I regretfully didn't get his name but was impressed with the guy taking orders at the counter. He was welcoming, patient and read our order back to us flawlessly. He even offered to make one of the orders a meal so that it would be a little cheaper. Just the extra thought was nice. Someone was paying attention at MU (McDonald's University). The second thing that made me want to write this review was how fast the food came out. The server was actually already behind us with our order as we were sitting down! Talk about fast service. We had 2 egg mcmuffins, 4 sausage mcmuffins, 2 hashbrowns and a coffee. They must have been cranking the sandwiches out back. And although the food came out fast, it was still warm and didn't seem like it had been sitting under a warmer too long. You can usually tell by the status of the cheese. The bathrooms were decent, workers kept the line moving and food came out fast. Hope this wasn't just our lucky day because I'm adding this stop to our Reno pit stop list. read more

The drive-thru team is always on point every time, especially when asking for special requests like "no salt on the fries", requesting "freshly prepared chicken nuggets", etc. Many tourist frequent this Colfax establishment on their way to the Tahoe area, so they can get busy, but the quality of service and food has been consistently good. read more

Worst fast food ever. Their food has gone way down hill at all McDonald's but this particular "restaurant" is the worst. Once they actually forgot the chicken nuggets in 3 happy meals, so when I got home there were no nuggets just fries and apple wedges. Another time I pulled in at 11:05 and started to order from the lunch menu, because you know lunch starts at 11am sharp. The drive through employee told me they aren't ready yet, and I said but lunch starts at 11am, and they just repeated they're not ready yet, so I left. Ice cream machine seems to always be broken. I'm a local, regular customer. $4.20 for a large fry was already outrageous, but raising it to $5.39 just because you now have to pay a living wage to your very short staff is beyond the pale. I have a novel idea: take less profit for yourself and your stockholders and hire a full staff! And pay them! And stop passing ALL of the cost of doing business on to your customers. My teenage sons begged me to take them to McDonalds, I'm not a fan but decided to relent. My sons each ordered burgers, fries and sodas. My son spread his French fries out on his napkin to put ketchup on, when he did there were several pubic looking hairs mixed among his fries, I gathered his fries up and asked to speak to the manager, he came up and I said to him quietly, that I'm not looking for a free meal, or money, but want you to see what was in our food, he told me to "get out" of the restaurant! Manager, Shorter hispanic lady, berating a man in the drive thru for $2 after he had already paid and is showing his receipt of full payment. She still wanted $2 more though, but for what??
