The Metrotown mall location makes this Mcdonalds pretty convenient to go to while shopping around. It is also pretty accessible from the Kingsway side and so it's also a fast place to run in, grab something, and go. There are always a lot of people. It is best to just use the phone app to order or you'll be waiting forever, especially if using the counter. That said, getting the food is pretty quick, especially considering the amount of people. There's quite a bit of seating available, but they're usually filled up with people. It takes some time to find an open table. The quality at this location is pretty good. I usually get ice coffee with varied amounts of cream and sugar and this one gets it right most of the time. The staff are pretty nice even when stressed out. Sometimes when there are good Happy Meal toys, I ask them which toy they have, and they're always happy to answer. read more

Not really impressed with their customer service. The way the metrotown location makes customers redeem the coupon on the Mcdonald's mobile app is a bit different because the customer has to scan the barcode on their own phone with the little scanner facing the customer. The staff lady at the metrotown location was giving a snarky tone when teaching me how to use the app on my phone. She then sighed when she took my order. She definitely gave strong vibes that she didn't want to be there. Other McDonald's I've been to just lets the customer show the coupon number shown on the app to the cashier which is way easier. I ordered a big mac. I'm pretty sure they added a little too much seasoning because it's more salty than I'm used to. I eat at least 3 or 4 big macs every month so i know how a big mac should taste. It was still edible though because I don't mind a little more salt anyways. It was just not what I'm used to. One positive is that the dining area was very clean because every table was spotless. Staff were diligently wiping tables and cleaning garbage. 3 out of 5 stars based on this visit. But they really should change out the extra salty burgers and cranky cashiers. read more

This is such a busy McDonald's that is located at Metrotown. Line up for ordering or picking up food is a must. If you come here on weekends, it will be worse. I don't recommend to order from McDonald's at this location if you are in a rush. I was shopping at Metrotown on a Friday afternoon, the shopping mall was busy already. McDonald's was also very busy. I was not in rush, so I decided to order an iced coffee and fish and chips for takeout. Many customers were in front of me waiting for pickup (food). I ordered fish and chips, so it took McDonald's some time to fry the fish and give me the order. I had been waiting for quite a long time, but I did not count how many minutes. A lot of customers who ordered behind me also picked up their food already. Finally I picked up my iced coffee and fish and chips. The iced coffee had no flavour of coffee as McDonald's put too much milk and it covered the coffee flavour unfortunately. I felt like I was milking a cup of milk but not an iced coffee. The fish and chips came with tartar sauce. They looked good and tasted okay. The fries at the bottom seems like they were soaked and not crispy at all. They were just barely cooked. I was very disappointed that fries played as an important role at McDonald's, but this branch did not even cook or fry the fries well. That's very sad! Overall, based on the customer service and food quality, I could not give more than 2 stars. Will I come back here for food? Yes, maybe.... She asked us what does 'on the side' mean for the tea (that was printed on the receipt). We were surprised because it was an option on the menu; she should ask McDonald's and not us. Then she said she would make a new cup of tea for us because they already made the tea with the tea bag inside. They wasted both of our time and wasted one more tea bag. Even though this is one of the larger mall locations, it could definitely use more space. Today the place had lineups at all 4 tills spilling out the entrance. After 10 minutes or so I finally made it to the front of the line. I wanted an ice cream, split into 2 cups (for my friend and I). As they were way too busy, something must've been lost in translation over the next few minutes, because I was handed 2 cones instead. Yay for free ice cream! Strangely enough, when I asked for a couple of sundae cups, the kid at the counter told me he wasn't allowed to give them out. As the place was completely full (no seats), we walked a few minutes and found a nice bench. Then I opened my bag to find my pies and.. no napkins. Are you serious? Of course, the one time I don't the napkins, I end up taking a spill with the ice cream. Just great. Lastly, and I can't figure out how this happened for the life of me, I got a mutant cone. Yes, mutant. My ice cream cone looked identical to my friend's (see photos), but as I was eating the cone part, suddenly I bit into.. paper. Huh? I ate around the area and found that it was the same paper that they use to wrap the cones (the part you hold). After a bit more munching, I realized that there was the base of a 2nd cone inside the cone I was holding. You'd think that this would simply be a case of someone doubling up a cone by accident, but this couldn't be it, as you'd obviously see it before you start eating it (there'd be 2 top parts as well). Kid's favorite restaurant, easy to be pleased. I offered steak, seafood and hotpot, but nothing could compare to a hamburger. I have to say the burgers looked so big on the picture but so small in reality, the feeling is like we have got the wrong ones packed, but when looking at the wrapping paper, then we know it's the right one. this McDonald's used to be old and retro. I mean the old decor had a retro space feeling like design. I guess every time I walk by or grab something here its just grab and go and never got a chance to really sit down and see what the inside is like. To my surprise, its very different. Its quite clean inside. Lots of seat available. This is one of the busier McDonald that's for sure. Lots of parking outside. Very disappointing! I ordered fish burger for my daughter and 2 apple pies for myself. I didn't think too much and just checked I got all the items I ordered and left. 5 mins walk to home and the apple pie was barely warm. I got the pie around 7pm and I saw the label said the pie was packed at 2pm and must finished by 6:30pm after I finished the whole thing. Basically, I ate the leftover item from their kitchen. I am very disappointed at there service. Horrible attitude. I ordered peanuts and extra sauce on the self-serve machine which I paid 15 cents for. Upon asking for where my order is (because they skipped it), the employee shouted at me without understanding the situation. I was SCREAMED at by the lady for "trying to get free sauce and peanuts." She yelled at my friends and I, telling us that we were STUPID to assume we could get free sauce anywhere and that "McDonalds is a BUSINESS so they don't give out free things." I showed her the receipt had marked $0 for the peanuts. She then tells me "the machine is wrong." Fair enough, I asked for the sauce that I PAID for and she still refused to give it to me and told me I was wasting her time. She kept yelling until she saw the receipt again (this time realizing I DID pay) and slapped the sauce aggressively on the counter. I never received an apology from her nor from any of the staff present. I am very offended by her attitude; I was shaking the whole time while trying to settle the situation. Horrible service. First of all you have the cashiers who always get your order wrong. Then you get your receipt and go to the waiting area. There will be two screaming employees who call out your order. You could get 6 mcnuggets and wait 15 minutes. Also. If they are even the slightest busy. You will not get your custom order. Take this for example.. I am allergic to sauce and asked for no sauce no pickles and no onions on my big Mac. They put extra sauce and sauce and pickles. My issue with this specific McD's is the communication, or lack there of from those behind the til. It's always busy, ridiculously busy and the inefficiency of the til staff doesn't help. I can deal with the long line ups. What I can't deal with is waiting an extra 5 - 10 minutes for them to correct my meal every time. When my cravings nag, this is it, otherwise I really wouldn't come here. I get that is is one of the busiest location, F-ups happen, however, for efficiency and communication, have people working who are fluent in both major city languages really helps. read more

What can I say? It's McDonald's. The taste is always the same wherever you are. The thing about this location is that it's pretty much always busy. Usually I don't even bother coming here during busy times as the lines go all the way out to the Tim Hortons. It's located at the largest entrance to the largest mall in BC, so the line to order food is a hellish limbo from some lovecraftian horror story. Time and space converge in this place and there is no God. If you send somebody else to order food for you and when they get back they'll be subtly warped, maybe their hair will be a different colour, or they'll speak a different dialect. Lineups and service at this location are always long and slow. Generally avoid frequenting this location but my kid wanted a hamburger so...on jan 1, i input my order using the selfservice board, paid, and then the machine jammed and we got no receipt, and no order number. Thus we were unable to track the order on the board, nor know when our order was called. i talked to the person at the service desk, and she said she would track it for me. but she was so busy that was not realistic. after waiting 15 minutes and stalking the service clerk, I finally asked the bag of food on the corner contained the items i ordered. it had been there a while b/c it was cold. Had i not been persistent, we wouldn't have gotten our food. the breakdown started with the self serve machine and carried on so this feedback is for head office who rolled this system out. if you cannot get the ordering process working well, you will continually have long waits with the self serve window and lots of anxious customers. not going back any time soon. read more
