Rob's Dogs - Working on focus!

    Rob's Dogs

    (67 reviews)

We have been working through some serious challenges with our dogs fighting, and our main goal was…read moresimply to help them safely cohabitate in the same home. We had previously completed seven sessions with another trainer at Rob's Dogs and while that experience was fine for basic obedience, it felt like 'training' rather than the deep level behavioral correction we actually needed. Thankfully, because of the Rob's Dogs lifetime guarantee, we were connected with Joel. From the first hour, the difference was night and day. Joel immediately identified the core issues and provided professional, actionable insight on how to actually shift the dogs' behavior, rather than just running through commands. We already feel significantly more confident moving forward and have total trust in the tools and guidance Joel has given us. If you are struggling with behavioral issues that go beyond the basics, I highly recommend working with Joel. We are incredibly optimistic about the progress we'll make in our upcoming sessions.

My 81 year old mom moved to an urban setting with a small yard and a neighborhood with lots of…read moresmall, yappy dogs that sets off reactivity in her German Shepherd. Although the dog has been through several training programs, she had recently reverted back to being reactive on leash: barking, pulling, and lunging at any dog that barked at her or gave her a "look". Thankfully I found Rob's Dogs through a search online. Rob offers dog training either through individual sessions sold as a packet of 8 or 3, or you can elect to do a board and train method. Since my mom's dog had done two board and trains with other training facilities in Florida and Texas, I opted for the individual sessions sold as a packet of 3. Not to disparage the other training schools, I want to note that the dog had learned a great deal of commands, but she was a little rusty and selective when doing them and was selectively reactive on leash around other dogs. What we needed was a trainer that could come to my mom's neighborhood and see the dog being reactive in the environment where she was going to be walked. Thankfully Rob's Dogs offered this as an option. It cost a significant amount to do this, but it was possible. The additional cost was for the mileage and drive time to my mom's place. We had a meet and greet at the facility. Rob, the owner, met with us and got the back story on the dog and the current behavior problems. He took the dog and walked her around a bit and near other dogs, tested her response to commands and leash pressure. He explained the package options available to us. He also made us aware that we would be using both a prong collar and e-collar to reinstate her former training. We had these tools, but my mom hadn't used them with the dog since she left Florida, and I had never used them. We were assigned a trainer who was contracted by Rob. Lauryn was super friendly and had a love and full understanding of the German Shepherd breed. She herself had a German Shepherd. She went over the operation of the two collars which I was not familiar with at all. Rob's dogs sent us a link and password so that we could watch some important training videos. His website also had some very useful training tips. I highly recommend watching/reading this information carefully and then reviewing it again each week. It's easy for owners to slip into bad habits quickly which results in their dogs behaving in ways they don't want. You will have to enforce rules and get into a routine. Restrictions can be lifted once the dog consistently behaves as desired. You will find that YOU will have to do the hard work. The trainer and Rob's Dogs will assess your current situation and give you the tools and training to use those tools to reinforce good behaviors. It won't happen overnight. You will need to work with the dog for at least an hour each day to reinforce the seven commands and expectations. As I mentioned, we only had three sessions. This training was going to determine whether or not my mom could keep and handle her dog. Immediately after the first session, we started using the tools and putting restrictions in place inside the house to set the law of the land. Right away, we noticed a difference. While the dog was already really well behaved in the house, it improved her response to us when we walked her outside of the house. The prong collar made a drastic difference in her behavior when she saw other yappy dogs on the walk. I no longer had to worry about her lunging, pulling or barking incessantly in an aggressive stance. She still got up, moved forward, and barked once, but it was all very controlled. I didn't have to use all of my strength to hold her back. The real test came when my mom was able to walk her dog around other yappy dogs. After session two, my mom was easily able to do this, and I felt confident that continuing this training would allow my mom to keep her dog. Her German Shepherd is sometimes still reactive, but it is much more controlled and manageable now. In time, and with continued consistent practice, I believe my mom's dog will eventually stop the reactivity altogether. She has already shown amazing progress and only slips occasionally. If you are looking for effective dog training (well, really we know it is human training to learn how to effectively communicate with the dog), then consider Rob's Dogs. You will work hard to get your dog's behavior issues resolved, but the longterm results will allow you to have a wonderful relationship with your pet.

Unfortunately, my soul dog Ernie did not come back home with me, however Dr. Jared Brethouwer and staff answered all of my questions, patiently responded to my scenario-based questions, my what-ifs, my repeated questions to make sure I was understanding fully what was happening to my dog and his prognosis. They waited for my children and husband to drive to the hospital to say goodbye and allowed us as much time as we needed while keeping Ernie comfortable. They were a wonderful ally thru this excruciating process. Even though the outcome was heartbreaking, I felt that Ernie and I were in the best care, with compassionate professionals, and I am very thankful for their expertise in our time of despair. -- Our experience with BluePearl: Please read before choosing an internist…read more I don't often write reviews, but I feel a responsibility to share what happened with my dog, Dresden, in hopes of helping other pet parents avoid the confusion, cost, and heartbreak we went through. We brought Dresden to BluePearl because we were concerned he might have Cushing's disease. We were prepared for diagnostics, answers, and a clear treatment plan. Instead, after 2 visits, thousands of dollars, and a long list of tests, we left with less clarity than when we started. Despite our concerns about Cushing's, Dresden was never actually tested for it. Dr. Ford told us she didn't think he had Cushing's--and even if he did, she likely wouldn't treat it. That was extremely confusing for us as owners trying to identify the cause of his symptoms and advocate for our dog's health. Over time, Dresden's symptoms worsened. Eventually, he ended up in the emergency hospital after what was likely a vascular event triggered by untreated Cushing's. Heartbroken and desperate for answers, we took him to Salt River--where he was finally tested, and officially diagnosed with Cushing's disease. I understand that medicine isn't always straightforward, and no internist can predict everything--but what we needed was someone who listened, took our concerns seriously, and followed through with appropriate diagnostics. We didn't get that from Dr Sara Ford at BluePearl. In fact, we were poorly treated, misinformed and made to feel we were bothering her for following up for direction when his condition worsened. If you are seeking an internist who will be thorough, proactive, and aligned with you in getting to the root of your pet's issues, I urge you to look elsewhere. You deserve a team that takes your concerns seriously and doesn't leave you with more questions than answers. We wish we had gone to Salt River from the start. It could have saved Dresden pain and us thousands of dollars months of stress, fear, and unnecessary expense.

I could not figure out why nothing was working. A colleagusuggested that I try a dog trainer named Bob Solomini that he had used in the past. His passion and confidence in Bob convinced me and even though I was very skeptical and worn out I decided to give it one last try. I am excited to tell you about my invaluable experience and what I learned from it: -my dog was only a small part of the problem, but the majority of the behavioral problems stemmed from me. Dogs aren't born knowing how to behave the way humans would like them to, so we as responsible dog owners need to teach them. -we don't automatically realize what we are doing wrong and unless a true professional who really cares can teach us the correct way we can't be sure that we will ultimately have a happy relationship with our pet. -after four years of pulling my hair out and stressful walks with my dog I wound up moving to a new neighborhood, and my dog was totally out of control when I walked him. When he saw people with dogs, he went crazy and I could not stop him from barking and pulling. In fact, he pulled me down a couple of times where I sprained my ankle and another time where I hurt my knee. In fact, most of my neighbors walked the other way when they saw us and complained about my dog's bad behavior. After the first lesson, I immediately knew that I had found something different. Humane, focused,, professional, and results driven. I am so lucky that I found all American K-9 and especially Bob Solomini. I love walking my dog now, and all of my neighbors have praised the incredible transformation that they see. This was literally a life-changing experience for my dog and for me. I am so thankful that I found somebody that really knows what they're doing and really cares -not only is Bob a great person, but also the Best dog trainer that I have ever met. The training took place at her facility in Dewey, AZ, where Scout stayed for the duration and was treated like family. Angelika even let Scout sleep in their bedroom (don't believe this is part of the normal program but goes to show how dedicated Angelika is to making the training personal). They were incredibly flexible with start and pick-up dates, which we greatly appreciated during a busy time for us. From the start, it was clear that Angelika is knowledgeable, patient, and truly passionate about helping dogs and their owners. The training sessions were tailored specifically to Scout's personality and needs, and the progress has been amazing. Using positive reinforcement techniques, Angelika not only addressed the issues quickly but also helped Scout build confidence. She kept us updated with regular communication, including progress videos. Now, Scout walks calmly on a leash, no longer jumps on guests, and responds much better to commands. During the pick-up session, Angelika and her husband, Tino, took the time to thoroughly explain the "why" behind each technique, ensuring we felt confident continuing the training at home. Angelika also made herself available for follow-up questions and provided helpful resources to reinforce everything we learned. If you're looking for a dog trainer who is professional, effective, and genuinely loves working with dogs, Angelika is the one to call. On top of her expertise, she's a joy to work with--we shared plenty of laughs during our conversations about Scout's progress!
