My fiance & I got Groupons for 3 horse riding lessons at Twisted Tree Farm. The stables themselves are very pretty and set into a calm area of North Scottsdale with views of Pinnacle Peak. It'd be a really cute place to take engagement or family pictures, if they let you. Twisted Tree Farm caters to real riders, like the kind that do jumps and that sort of competition. We didn't quite realize that when we got the groupons...my fiance trying to post and such was a funny site. We just wanted to learn how to ride horses and get to run with them cause trail guides on the hour rides in the desert never let you. Our instructor Victoria was really nice, knowledgeable, and patient. She let me go slowly (those horses are giant) and made sure I felt comfortable with everything. Twisted Tree Farms seems like a great place to go if you want to learn english-style, jump-style horse riding. If you are just looking for regular horse riding lessons like we were, someplace else would probably be better. read more

I went to their summer camp and though they have a great riding experience, they cram too many kids on one horse. They only have two riding horses for like 30 kids so while two kids ride, 28 kids stand out in the sun waiting for hours for their turn. And they only let a kid ride once. Such wonderful place for boarding your animal! Left with no safe , affordable and appropriate places for my pot belly pig and large tortoise to be boarded temporarily, I contacted Twisted Tree and could not have been more happy with the experience. The owners and employees were so welcoming, accommodating and helpful and cared for them like they were their own. My daughter (16) has been riding at Twisted Tree for 3 years. We had just moved to AZ and drove by one of their open house signs. She has grown so much intellectually, emotionally, socially and of course athletically as an equestrian. It's that time to find wonderful things for my kids to do for the summer! Every year my daughter is lucky enough to experience M & M Ranch also known as twisted tree farm!! She is 9 years old however there are children there of every age! Both boys and girls learn the value of team work, they learn the value and responsibliity that goes into taking care of a horse and of course they get to enjoy riding and learning confidence building tricks!! Our son wanted to ride horses for his 10th birthday. He had only ridden a horse years ago so no riding experience to speak of but he really wanted to ride. We found a groupon for a 60 min group riding lesson at Twisted Tree Farm in North Scottsdale. Scheduling it was not very difficult, a nice courtesy reminder voicemail left prior to scheduled lesson with what to wear and all. We arrived as requested, 30 min early to sign paperwork. My son was kindly greeted by his facilitator Amber, who was AMAZING!!! She was patient, educational, and very adaptable to what my son wanted to know, do, ask....she even made us adults informed of horse questions we had. She provided, showed, and had my son learn how to groom/prep the horse before riding, was amazing at making him relax and calm his nerves when he got on the horse, reminding him it's normal to have a little nerve, but have him repeat skills that made him quite comfortable he was able to smile and giggle when near the end she led him and the horse into a little trot! The ride finished with again cleaning up and grooming the horse. My son couldn't stop talking about the fun he had the entire drive home. Again, I bought a 60 min group lesson, so not sure no one else signed up to make a group lesson, but Amber spent more like 90 min with my son. Very pleased with the cleanliness and beautiful ranch.....nice staff, all was very great! Highly recommend to anyone who wants to try riding or regularly rides horses!!! read more

I wouldn't recommend this stable. I bought a Groupon for a lesson there and never used it. Left 2 or 3 voicemails for a call back to set up a time and never heard back from them. I had complained to Groupon and they said they reached out to the stable and I should be receiving a call in 2 or 3 business days. That never happened Luckily Groupon credited me and cancelled this purchase. Very unprofessional of these people to not respond. Not a way to do business for sure. read more

I know this may seem like a biassed review since I work at Twisted Tree Farm but I wanted to throw in my 2 cents. I have been with Janet and Larry for about 6 years now and I could not ask for a better work environment. Not only do I get to work with amazing horses all day but the people are awesome as well. The farm is absolutely beautiful and Janet has "our guys" trained for attention to detail and care of the horses. Everyone in the "TTF Family" has a true passion for horses and love of the sport. We have the staff, horses and expertise available to teach any rider from beginner to grand prix. We have an amazing internship program, great kids camps, wonderful lesson groups, reliable school horses and awesome parties! Most of all we always have fun! I've been riding at Twisted Tree Farm for around 5 years and have never been happier. Over the years I have improved immensely thanks to their dedicated trainers. Janet Hischer, the head trainer at TTF, truly cares about your goals as a rider and will do what ever it takes to help you achieve them. Ali Stephans, one of the assistant trainers, brings an amazing dressage background to the program. She firmly believes that jumping is an extension of your flat work and applies that to her lessons. Sydney Oshinski, another assistant trainer, has ridden and worked for Janet since she was a child and knows everything there is to know about good horsemanship and patience. She gives awesome lessons, especially to the little ones and beginners that have come to Twisted Tree. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to learn horsemanship and the proper way to ride, whether you're a beginner or a grand prix rider. read more
