When I took my Subaru in for an oil change, the tech didn't tighten the oil cap which popped off and blew oil all over my engine. Then, two weeks ago my Corvette wouldn't start, made a loud noise when I pushed the start button. AAA was not able to start it. Had to call a flat bed. Ken Scales did nothing for 2 days. On the third day they called and said the battery was dead. I told them I suspected something else was wrong because a dead battery makes no sound at all when you push the start button. I asked them to check everything having to do with starting the car that might have caused that noise. When they called to say they replaced the battery, I asked if they found what was causing the noise when pushing the start button. They said it was just a dead battery that's all, couldn't find anything else. This week, I drove the Corvette to Brookings, turned the engine off, but when I tried to start it again it made the same noise as before the new battery was installed. Worse yet, AAA said there were no AAA approved automotive service places within 30 miles, and they will only tow for 3 miles. I was terrified - 2 1/2 hours from home and no way to get there. After hitting the gas pedal a couple of times, I managed to get the car started, decided to try to make it home to Jacksonville. Took the car to Bob Thomas Automotive (BBB approved). They took the car right in, called me to say they hadn't found the problem yet, but assured me they would keep looking. Next morning their best technician called to say it took him 2 1/2 hours, but he finally found the problem. The grey wire to the fuel pump was loose. I will NEVER take my cars to Ken Scales again.

After I gave them the history of our fuel problems (trouble filling the gas tank, loss of power, etc.) they diagnosed the problem as a faulty fuel pump. Thankfully Lee offered his home to us for the weekend, and our RV was completely fixed by Monday, and we made it safely home without a single problem! I got P0524 code, I called this guy, he…read moreinitially said he would charge $285 for oil change ( He brought oil and filter ) He told me he is going to use good quality oil thats why he is charging more. In that price he also promised that he will do diagnosis of P0524 code, which he did but absolutely wrong way. He removed the oil pressure valve and cleaned it and put it back since he could not find the new part in the area which is fine but it was not valve it was just oil pressure sensor. Any simple mechanic would first try to find oil pressure sensor not the valve its different thing. And Yes he took it back that new oil and filter with him and never changed. I thought he will charge me less since he said i dont need to have new oil and change because it was good. I was predicting he is trying to save my money by not having oil and filter because the issue is something else but guess what?? i was wrong. After he finished diagnosis told me it will be $300 ( he barely spent one hour ), I called him in regular hour not afterhours like midnight or early morning. I would strongly suggest please find another mechanic if you get stranded dont use his service. Money minded greedy person. Since i dont want to argue with him on that day i quitly paid $300, he just cleared the code thought he actually made fix but i was wrong, check engine light came back as soon as we hit mountain. I checked with other local shop in Redding CA and he was able to figure out actual issue, he did diagnosis and changed the oil pressure sensor very reasonable price and car was fixed. again dont go by his fake google reviews, think before anyone contact him. Has no shame getting your money.

He got us in ASAP considering it was summer and over 100 degrees. Trust me when I say we saved hundreds of dollars taking it here and not to the Honda shop. We then took our hybrid Toyota Highlander in for an oil change, new air filter, tire rotation and a couple cosmetic fixes (one not so small). ZERO STARS. BEWARE OF THIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND DEALERSHIP…read more I am extremely disappointed and angry about my experience here. What should have been a straightforward, free recall repair turned into a situation where I was suddenly being asked to pay $4,800 for a transmission failure that occurred immediately after this dealership had possession of and driven my vehicle. I brought my car here specifically to have a recall addressed. The dealership completed the recall work and returned my vehicle to me. Shortly afterward, I contacted them because something was clearly wrong with the car. They came and picked it up, and that is when I was told I suddenly needed a new transmission. Here is what makes this situation even more concerning: when I questioned how a vehicle that was functioning properly before the recall appointment could suddenly require a transmission immediately afterward, I was told there was no documentation showing the condition of my vehicle when they initially received it or when they returned it to me. That lack of documentation is incredibly troubling. I spoke with CLARK, who identified himself as the service department manager. The customer service I received from him was unacceptable. I called approximately 10 times trying to get a response. I left messages, and on multiple occasions I was transferred directly to him, only for him to pick up the receiver and hang up rather than address the situation. When we finally spoke, Clark acknowledged that my position--that the vehicle had been fine before the dealership had it--was reasonable, but said he needed to speak with the employees who had handled my vehicle and review what happened. According to him, however, no one could remember my vehicle or what had happened to it. Big surprise. I was then told that transmissions can fail unexpectedly and that it was simply a "strange coincidence" that mine failed after the dealership had driven and serviced the vehicle. Maybe transmissions do fail unexpectedly, but given the timing, the lack of documentation, and the fact that my vehicle was functioning perfectly before I brought it in, I find that explanation extremely difficult to accept. The dealership initially wanted to charge me $4,800 to repair the transmission. After I pushed back, they suddenly "found a discount" and reduced the price to $2,800. That is not a minor inconvenience. That is a $2,800-$4,800 financial burden that I was left with after bringing my vehicle in for a recall repair that was supposed to cost me nothing. The entire experience left me feeling that I was being held financially responsible for a problem that occurred while my vehicle was in their possession, while simultaneously being given little documentation, little accountability, and virtually no customer service. I strongly recommend taking your vehicle somewhere else. Based on my experience, I would not trust this dealership with my vehicle again, and I certainly would NOT purchase a vehicle here. If you value your vehicle, your money, and being treated with basic honesty and respect, think twice before doing business here.

This review gives me no pleasure to write given that in the past I have written an excellent one…read more I have spent many thousands of dollars at Aaron's Autowerks repair shop over the years, and my last few visits were financially damaging. Things changed after Doah left the company as manager. He used to make sure that everything was completed well and properly as promised. My Range Rover is hard to adjust. Some are. That is not my fault. I have repeatedly had to bring it back because of quirks not corrected or, more commonly, because certain final adjustments were forgotten by the mechanics time and time again (resetting things such as the idle speed). Usually they took care of such things immediately but I had to get rides for some things or take extra time to deliver the car and wait. That was frustrating. It happened repeatedly. A year ago I spent great deal of money to fix a fair number of problems, most of which were handled well (faulty electric windows, etc). However, I had to bring my car in several times to fix a power assist vacuum brake problem that made the 3 ton SUV dangerous to drive. Multiple times I had to have Aaron's fix an air suspension valve problem ( see below), and, strangely an expensive Xenon headlight bulb that supposedly went out while in their care with the new one seemingly less bright than the old. Within a number of months it too went out. It is still out. Only rarely were there apologies, usually from the ex-manager or the mechanic both of whom are very nice. I was made to feel like a 'problem' customer at times despite always being polite correct in finding their errors. I did not appreciate that either. Where the suspension issue was concerned, Aaron, the owner, knowing how much I had spent on other repairs kindly found me a used air suspension valve at the car facility next door, taken off an old Range Rover that had sat outside unused for years, and he put it in without asking me first or making clear to me any warrantee issues. His motivation for that, however, was good: he was trying to save me $400. However, it immediately went wrong and after at least five failed electronic resettings and a refitting, he would not stand by the product or work and told me that a new one was the only way to fix it and that it would exceed $1,200 (installed) after I had already spent $800-$900! He then steadfastly refused to look up or find out from others if my car was still safe to drive given that I had a permanent dashboard computer warning regarding the suspension fault. It affects handling, gas mileage and towing. It has yet to be fixed. Several attempts were also made to find a persistent drain on my battery. Eventually, a fuse was removed to a faulty headlight wiper motor. That did not fix the drain. So, between the multiple visits for failed brake assist vacuum line work, air suspension repair, and the battery drainage problem, not to mention the years-long lasting Xenon headlight bulb being replaced which subsequently went out again within a few months, I have been unable to drive my car at night, unable to tow my trailer, have had to drive slowly by day not knowing if my suspension is safe, and I was dismissed rudely from the store without any support at all for the clearly faulty air suspension valve that had been put in in good faith but without my prior permission and which had never worked! I have been a customer of Aaron's Autowerks for years, spending thousands of dollars there. We had never before had a disagreement nor has there ever been a rude word spoken in either direction. I was and remain extremely disappointed in the way that I have been treated. And I have held off this review because I genuinely like them as people. I have since been directed to other high end mechanics, although I have not yet been able to double pay on these still persistent malfunction issues that have already been paid for. Needless to say I am very disappointed in the quality of work and their attitude although I do like everyone who works there, including the owner. Jeremy Goodwin, MS, MD
