Yelp reviews don't let you leave "no stars." But that's my rating. I'm very disappointed. Our 2016 Ford Edge suffered a cracked flywheel, a known recall issue with our model year (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2022/MC-10218899-0001.pdf). The Butler Ford in Ashland service team identified the issue immediately as a recall problem and assured us they could fix it at no cost. That made us happy, as this is an expensive fix (about $3400). But then, after a day of back-and-forth phone calls, they told us that our car was too old for the recall benefit to apply, and we would have to pay the full amount. ' Not even an appeal to Ford's "Goodwill" division made a dent in this decision. So -- there's a known defect in the way the car was manufactured, but Ford refuses to honor it's own customer service recall. It makes no sense. The defect in the car doesn't go away just because the car gets older. It's still there, lurking, waiting to crack the flywheel and make your car inoperable. That's what happened to us, and it could happen to you. We also had to repeatedly ask if we could have a loaner car for our 1-car family to use while this expensive repair was being done. They finally allowed us to rent a car for $30/day. The repair took over a week. There are lots of ways this could have gone to so that Butler Ford of Ashland could keep us as customers. Needless to say, we're very dissatisified. As a result of this experience, we will never buy a Ford again, not from Butler Ford in Ashland, not from any Ford dealer. Ever. read more

They're so on it when buying a vehicle but when it comes down to honoring a recall or getting anyone on the phone from the service department forget that you even exist. Between my husband and his father they've purchased 6 or 7 vehicles from them. We bought our Bronco 3 years ago. A few different issues came up. Totally got ghosted. We ended up going to Yreka Motor's. My son recently bought a truck from Crater Lake Ford after I told him about our experiences with Butler. I brought my vehicle in for a simple service inspection and asked to be present so I could point out specific areas of concern that needed to be documented for another dealership. I was respectful and clear about what I was trying to accomplish. I was told certain components were fine and did not need replacement, despite being advised otherwise by an Audi dealership. When I calmly explained that I wanted to ensure accuracy since this is a Ford dealership and not an Audi specialist, one of the service technicians responded in an extremely unprofessional and aggressive manner. He told me, "You have no idea what you're talking about. Keep running that effing mouth of yours and I will refuse you service." He then continued to repeat this while backing away, attempting to intimidate me. I was honestly shocked by the behavior and how quickly the situation escalated despite me remaining respectful the entire time. When I asked to speak with a manager, I was told none were available. When I asked for the technician's name, staff were hesitant and vague, and I was told this kind of behavior "happens all the time," which is even more concerning. The technician that caused this altercation is named David. This was a very disappointing experience. No customer should be spoken to or treated this way under any circumstances. read more

I bring it in for them to buy and test drive, well, while one of their sales men kept me busy, they took my vehicle on a "test drive" to the shop and literally broke my car. My 2022 Bronco fuel pump went out when I was driving from Seattle to Los Angeles. I broke down 18 miles south of Ashland, OR. I had the car towed to Butler Ford. They sent out for a replacement part out of Portland and installed it the next day which got me back on the road. I am so thankful for the help with the car. When you break down away from home, you are at the mercy of the automotive mechanical gods, and I am glad to say that Butler Ford came through. I highly recommend their service department, especially Jeremy Zucker, who squeezed me in even though their appointments were totally backed up, as are most dealers these days. What makes Butler worthy of 5 stars is the team of people coordinating one sale. Eric Edgar was relentlessly working on getting the best interest rate while Joel Nickerson was trying to keep the monthly payment within my comfort zone. Deceptive sales tactics, it is no longer the Butler that you knew. They were bought out by Kiefer Auto Group of Eugene. I want to give zero star. Arrived to see value for trade in with my wife. They took our key as we looked at other cars. Agreed on test drive. When we returned to the dealership, I was told that I was to pay $5000 over MSRP for no apparent reason. Sales person insisted several times that I needed to sit, I preferred to stand. I explained that this was not my first car purchase and I would only be paying less than sticker. Salesman went to manager, and forced us to wait. Upon returning with absurd % rate offer, I requested they return the key to my car so that I could leave. After several requests for the key, they refused to give it back. Eventually, after waiting over half an hour for them to return the key, I went and sat in my car to call the police. Eventually, the sales person wandered out and gave the key back. The sales people and managers are ruthless and disgusting people who prey on innocent or simple minded. If it is your first car buying experience , you're a woman or are not privy to deceptive predatory businesses, do not come here alone or at all. read more

Worked with Butler Ford's service department for about 2 months getting my vehicle warrantied. They picked up the work that a locally [unnamed] dealer left unfinished and in worse shape than they found it. From the moment I made contact with the service department at Butler, I was treated with the utmost respect, receiving timely updates, good communication etc. Jeremy Z in service is a Gem of an employee. He is knowledgeable, intelligible, diligent, funny and seems like he enjoys what he does; No one likes bringing their vehicle in, but he is a breath of fresh air and will work above and beyond to get you answers, work you into the schedule and verify that the work done on your vehicle was done right. I had a concern that I called Jeremy on and asked if I could being my vehicle in to get it looked at early morning. He got me in and out in 1 day, quickest turn around I've ever had at a dealer. I didn't get to work with Thomas very much, but he was equally as helpful and worked with me when Jeremy was away to get me answers and complete paperwork when things needs to be done. Props to Alex R in Service - the Master Tech that replaced the 5.0 on my Tremor, he is a fine mechanic, left everything in better shape than he found it. My vehicle is running great. Watching the service department work is like watching a highly-functional family. They are all buddies with each-other, crack jokes, smile, laugh and coordinate well. After purchasing a new 2023 F150 Lariat, the electronic locking differential came on while at the dealer. I brought my truck back and was told a rock probably kicked it on from under the truck while driving by the mechanic. The mechanic gave me a five minute explanation that made no sense, so the proverbial red flag went up. This happened a second time, so while getting an oil change I asked to see where this part is on the underside of my truck? Clark showed me the underside of my truck while in the bay and explained there is no way for the ELD to come on from under my truck. I told him the mechanic had told me a BS story. I had marked my front driver side tire before bringing in my truck for the oil change, and even though it took 90 minutes, the rotation was not done. I showed this to the employee doing my paperwork and said that'll do it. I'm not coming here anymore. While I wasn't charged for the oil change, I am taking it elsewhere to have changed because I do not trust the work he did do. read more

Through the serendipity of our call to the Butler Acura dealership being transferred somehow to Rocky Moore, a salesman and floor sales manager in the Butler Ford dealership, Rocky was the salesman we worked with at the Butler Acura dealership. I received an email to review Butler, the email stated "call them first if there are any issues." The salesman also stated this. So I contacted them about an issue before I left this review. I Bought a used F150 from them on trade. Overall decent truck for the mileage and price. But, the salesman and I heard a buzzing sound in the dash when test driving. Salesman said "it's the radio" which I could have lived with. Found out after I bought it by a simple internet search that it is the recirculating/fresh air door actuator. A common problem apparently. This is a $2000 job per my research because it involves removing the dashboard. The general manager said to bring it in for a free diagnosis and "I'll see what I can do." Service said "everything working fine." I then sent the general manager a video with the abnormal sound from the dash clearly present. He has not replied. They didn't follow through on my issue, or didn't want to, and service didn't do a thorough job investigating the problem even after I told them what I thought the issue was. Customer time is definitely not a concern nor a priority. I understand everywhere you go there will be a wait. Butler even got me in same day instead of me having to wait a week for an estimate like at Lithia. But it took them OVER A MONTH to finish something THEY TOLD ME IT'D TAKE ONE TO TWO WEEKS. I took my car in the 6th of JUNE. The last week of service they said my car would be ready tuesday (the 4th) or wednesday (the 5th), which is already over the 20 days my insurance gives me for a rental so I've been paying out of pocket... I called thursday since I didn't receive any call- not to let me know they were done and it was ready, and not to let me know they needed more time and sorry for the inconvenience. They told me no one worked on the 4th so they'd try to finish that day and friday. friday (the 7th)- no call. so I call them again. they tell me the collision team left and to try again monday (the 10th), which was also my boyfriend's birthday. I left his gift in there so he wouldn't find it, and the stress of maybe not being able to pick my car up was immense. the 10th of JULY rolls around and I call THEM. they tell me my car has been ready since friday. so not only have i already been paying for extra days, but now I've paid for three days that i didnt need to pay for, because THEY didnt call me, THEIR CLIENT, to let me know MY CAR was finished. Want to be called a liar by Tommy the service writer? Go to Butler Ford. Had my pos Explorer towed in after it broke down, Called nine times and did not talk to a human (are there any there?) Did not get a call back. Went down there and they could not find the vehicle. I went out to the lot and found it. Tommy told me it was on the lot for a different dealership next door and I would have to have it towed to the Butler lot 5 feet away. Turns out...it was on Butler property all the time (Tommy was too busy/lazy to go back with me to find it). When the (fabulous) driver from Dick's Wrecker Service showed up he confirmed that the vehicle was on Butler property all along. I went back into the service dept. and Tommy denied that he said it was on the dealership lot next door, despite both my wife and I remembering him telling us that. I was not familiar with the dividing line between the lots. (The lots are actually divided by a building wall...north of the wall is T&C Chevy, south of the wall is Butler Ford.) Any vehicle south of the wall, which is where my vehicle was, is on Butler property. When I went back into the service dept with the tow truck driver, Tommy denied that he had told me that the vehicle was not on their property. I asked him if he was calling me a liar and he said "YES"!!! I left and had the vehicle towed to a nearby honest shop. This is very sad. In the forty six years I have been buying and having cars serviced at Butler Ford I have never been treated so rudely. They also wanted to charge me $200 just to look at it. The shop I took it too will look at it for free and give me an estimate. Again, sadly, this will be my LAST visit to Butler Ford. Things have changed since Chuck Butler passed away. This used to be a dealership known for honest dealing with customers. I would have to say this is no longer the case. Sayonara Butler. I will (not) be baaaack. Warren? Are you reading this? Our sons (ages 13 and 12) outgrew our 2004 Ford Focus wagon. With the school year approaching and a full schedule of swim team meets on our family calendar, we knew it was time to transition into a larger vehicle. We contacted Butler Ford through their website on a Friday evening. Within an hour, we received a call from Craig Fronek, who invited us to their Ashland dealership for a test drive during their Labor Day Weekend sale. We made plans to drive south, a two-hour drive from our home in Roseburg, on Sunday afternoon, so our sons could join us on the test drive. Over the summer, we had rented several compact SUVs but hadn't found the right model to fit our family's needs. We came across the hashtag "#unminivan" on social media and learned the Ford Transit Connect Titanium was a more maneuverable, more affordable alternative. We were welcomed as we came through the front doors of Butler Ford's new showroom. Craig introduced himself and salesman Colton Hanson to our family. They thanked us for making the long drive. They provided us bottles of water and restroom facilities, which were so well maintained and furnished (a wall-mounted Koala changing station!) I took pictures to prove it. Colton prepared two models of the 2016 Ford Transit Connect Titanium for us and demonstrated the basics of each. We chose to drive the six-seat model through downtown Ashland and back via Interstate 5, so we could test highway acceleration. Colton sat beside me and then my wife, Yumi, as we took turns test driving. He was professional, calm and patient during the test drive, even encouraging our sons to test both the second- and third-row seating. We returned to the dealership and began reviewing Ford's Labor Day offers and rebates. As we reviewed the deals, Colton introduced us to Sales Manager Joel Nickerson. Consumer websites often refer to leasing as a "confusing, complicated process" but that wasn't our experience. Joel listened carefully to address our concern, answering our questions with a straightforward and plain-speaking style we found comforting and courteous. After reaching a deal, we sat down with Jeremy Taylor in the Finance department to sign the paperwork. Jeremy was as professional and patient as Colton, Joel and Craig. Meanwhile, Colton arranged service and fuel for our new vehicle, assisting my wife and sons as they transferred our belongings into the new vehicle. The Butler Ford staff treated us well, as valued customers; we never felt hurried even though our deal was wrapping up as the dealership was closing (6 p.m.). We drove off with a new 2016 Ford Transit Connect Titanium. Since it was late in the day, Colton arranged to securely store our Ford Focus wagon until I can return to pick it up later this week. This review is long overdue. I bought my vehicle here last year. (9/2013) I live in Los Angeles, Ca and dealt with them over the phone and via email. I was looking for a specific vehicle and package (only a handful of them in the country). Other dealers a little closer to me didn't want to settle on a price until I arrived there... Or wouldn't come to a reasonable price for the vehicle. Not only did they come to a number we could both agree on... But they bought my current vehicle! I ended up driving up there over the weekend from Los Angeles and driving home in my brand new car! They even helped me out as much as they could with everything I needed for registering my vehicle in California. I showed up, the vehicle was washed and waxed... Sitting there glistening in the sun. (Important so you can see any imperfections in paint) I was walked through all the basic features of my Ford Sync system... A test drive, a full tank of gas and we were headed back south. There wasn't any bait and switch tactics.... Just the usual dealer 'add on' items that are pitched at closing. No hard selling on any of them. All in all the experience at Butler was positive and my drive past Mt. Shasta was beautiful. Definitely worth the drive from Los Angeles to get the vehicle I wanted without any compromises.
