The one reason and best reason to come here, especially early on a Friday? Come and watch and listen to the regulars. This is a classic dive bar that I've been to a few times over the years and it never pretends to be anything different than what it is. They have about ten beers on tap, but definitely nothing that is going to appeal to a beer snob. Bells Two Hearted and Petoskey Horny Monk are really your two choices. The classic fridge is filled with a few more choices but the classics dominate the selections. They have a small kitchen with a classic bar menu. It's Friday during lent so Fish and Chips is on special, and the prices are way better than you will find anywhere else. The service is always great. I've always say at the bar so I can only speak to that but I honestly can't imagine any of it being bad. If you're looking for an authentic experience in a town full of pretentious people this is one of the few ones. read more

It's you typical hole in the wall. And I mean hole. It's got cheap drinks, keno, loud music, loud crowd, crappy bar stools, and a crappy old bar top. The food comes from a tiny run down kitchen where everything is deep fried, maybe even the burgers. The popcorn is so salty it should be against the law, but you'll eat it anyways because it's addictive. The bartenders asks if you want another at appropriate times, so she does her job well enough. A dive bar in every way. And that's a good thing. I have it two stars because a dive bar should never be three stars. Lol Surprisingly decent selection on 5 taps. Currently Guinness, Summer Shandy, Fat Tire, and Shock Top. There is a little grill that is well seasoned and turns out a decent dive bar burger. The patrons are older, but friendly and funny. If you're looking for a great bar burger, than you have to give this place a try. When you order a burger to be cooked medium you actually get it served that way. I've had it multiple times and it's always done just right. Thick, juicy, great quality, and a great price! We didn't have our usual bartender. This one was polite, but never checked back with us when we got our food, and we were sitting at the bar. We decided to try the grilled ham and cheese. We asked for rye bread and Swiss cheese. It came to us on white Texas Toast. The ham itself was thin deli ham and dripping with butter that had an odd taste. I have always likes this place, But, last time I was there, I ordered a burger. 1 1/2 hours later -- I was still not done! So I left. There was only one cook on a Friday night. I am pretty sure she was cooking exactly one order at a time! If order 1 has a burger and Chicken strips and order number 2 has two burgers -- throw 3 burgers down! Not just cook one order, then start the next when it is done! An hour and a half! Still no food. I had to go somewhere else to eat! I haven't been in since. I will admit that this bar might not be easy to fall in love with right away. it's small, dark, and quite [unless you go on karaoke night] but I love that kind of bar. Its a dive bar for sure and it's perfect. They have a constant flow of regulars, a little on the older side but all very nice and welcoming. When you walk in you can always find a seat at the bar or a table. With in seconds of sitting down the bar tender, usually only one, will already be asking you for a drink. The service is great and always friendly even if its busy. The food is cooked fresh and is always great. The first time I had a burger I thought it would be crappy but I was very surprised to find a perfectly made burger and nice fresh fries. If you're a loud party kind of bar person you may night like this bar but I would give if a try. It's the best place to to relax and enjoy good food, drinks, and atmosphere. read more

I LOVE DIVE BARS. There I said it, it's out there. That said, this place is not as dive-y as others but definitely has a great group of regulars and it's a comfy place to visit when I'm visiting my parents at home. The bartenders make it a point to get to know you and if you don't treat them like crap (I've seen it done) they really hook you up with great service and company. The karaoke is always fun although the hosts definitely play favorites but I love to sing so if they let me I will, and they always do. Honestly I'd rather hear good singers anyways and not be put asleep by bad singers and horrible song choices. The free popcorn is awesome. McClenaghans Irish Pub in Shelby Township.... Went out looking for a spot with a nice patio. This joint has a fairly decent sized one. Funny thing is, we opted to sit inside? We walked in and there was PBR on tap (bonus), a popcorn machine, and a menu that had burgers made fresh never frozen. There was a small zen moment. Over PBR, the burgers decided was the "Bar Burger" and the "Texas Burger". The Bar Burger came with onion, lettuce, and tomato atop a kaiser bun. Burger- 3 Price- 4 Service- 3 Overall- 1.2 ???? The Texas had bacon, American, onion lettuce, tomato, and BBQ sauce. Burger- 3 Price- 3 Service- 4 Overall- 2.5 ???? The burger were good to eat. Nothing fancy but a good bite. The crowd inside and out were older and seemed to be all regulars. There was absolutely zero noise in this place save the old men yelling (quite funny really).
