What a hidden gem in the Clem! I loved everything about Eastside Tavern. My friend invited me, I'd never heard of this place before. I won't give too much away because I feel everyone should experience the Tavern for themselves to truly appreciate it. I will say this....best prices for drinks, an amazing fried bologna sandwich and a HUGE hamburger! We ended up slitting both and taking home leftovers. If you try anything, that bologna sandwich was delicious. On a side note, watch your head and DO NOT wear heels ladies. You can thank me later! Lol

Oh man...food is really good, ceiling is really low. Nice little dive bar. Lots of locals where everyone seemed to know each other. Sounds like this place gets rowdy at night on the weekends with a live band. I had the burger and it was good! The Bloody Mary wasn't anything special. I initially came here because I saw a Bloody Mary photo posted on here but it definitely wasn't from here! But either way...good food.

Great burgers, small, limited seating. Neighborhood joint, but friendly place. Low ceiling so watch your noggin going in!

This place has basement bar vibes for sure, because it's a bar in a basement.... Fun place to come for drinks and typical bar food.

Had the fried baloney and cheese on rye with a beer, while watching the U of M game. What a combination!

Great place for a burger, and a beer. All of the locals eat here. Be prepared for the low ceiling if you are above 5'9!

I really wanted to like this place…read more I came here on New Year's Eve and they had a free buffet, which honestly set the bar pretty high. Simple food but done well -- a sub, stroganoff, salad. Nothing fancy, just generous and genuinely appreciated. Between that and seeing all the events at The Hut (bands, brunch, paint & sip, Super Bowl parties), I fully planned on coming back. Unfortunately, this return visit changed my mind. I ordered the turkey Reuben with onion rings. The onion rings were cooked so hard they lost all flavor, and the turkey was smoked but extremely dry. To make matters worse, there was a small piece of blue plastic or bristle in the sandwich. Service was polite, but uncomfortable at times. The older man -- who I believe may be the owner -- lingered very close, seemed shaky, and poured drinks far stronger than intended. I usually appreciate a generous pour, but these were unbalanced and not enjoyable. When the bill came, there was a cash vs credit price option, and we were told we were the first guests to use the new system. Even so, the total still didn't match the menu prices we ordered from, and that wasn't clearly explained upfront, which made the experience confusing. Ambiance-wise, it's a classic dive bar -- no complaints there. Live bands, lots of events, and a hole-in-the-wall feel. That part is honestly the strongest draw. For anyone unfamiliar, this used to be Mangan's Irish Hut for years. The original owners retired, someone new bought it, and now it's just "The Hut." The Irish Hut signage is still on the building, with BBQ signage in spots as well, so it feels like the place is still finding its identity. If I'm speaking directly to the owner: there is potential here. The event ideas and community focus are great. But food consistency, drink balance, menu accuracy, and clearer communication all need attention.

Stopped in with friends for my buddies retirement and didn't know what to expect as I never been…read morehere. Well it's definitely a dive bar and had that feel to it. My friends ordered chicken and they loved it lightly breaded and was cooked right. They have several beers on tap, I would say about 10, I had Yuengling. Our server was super nice and kept our beers full all evening. They had a singer come in too, and it was Wednesday evening. Wasn't pricey either so would come back.

I recently called my mom to apologize for not calling her in a while. Things got busy, and I lost…read moretrack of time. Since my mom is so awesome, she told me this wasn't a problem. I feel a similar sense of guilt about how I've treated this restaurant. I've been here since Covid, but I should've updated my review. While I didn't like how they handled the pandemic (Faye acted like there was no pandemic), the food has always been amazing. And, it still is. I'm not happy that they don't have sandwiches anymore, unless you count hamburgers. But, I understand businesses need to simplify to stay profitable. I don't think lack of sandwiches is going to be a problem if they keep making the burgers this good. The beefiness is profound, and it shows that they are using fresh, high-quality meat. The mushroom and Swiss burger has a stack of sautéed mushrooms and a generous amount of Swiss. I really appreciate the waitress asking me first if I wanted mayo on it... mayo would've taken away from the robust flavors. I actually kept going "mm-mm" after each bite. And, look at the ridiculous amount of fries in my picture. These are seriously good fries. I do want to order the fish and chips next time. My daughter got them, and I'm glad she was willing to share. The whitefish has a sweetness you only get from fresh fish. And, the breading is crispy, and not the least bit greasy. My wife said she wasn't hungry (though she did have a bite of everything we ordered), so she ordered the cream of broccoli soup. It was wonderfully flavorful. As with everything else we ordered today, we would be happy to order it again. The service was excellent, and I don't mind the no-frills setting. There's no way you'd expect an old school bar to have food this good. Coming here during happy hour also helped. A strong Moscow Mule cost $10, and my 22 ounce Guinness only cost $8. Sorry, Your Mothers. I definitely won't neglect you for so long next time.
