If you're looking for mediocre food and servers and the owner to blatantly be rude, without absolutely any care, treat you disrespectfully, and avoid your table to see if you are ready to order, this is your place. I tried to give the staff the benefit of the doubt, but after several visits the mood and lackluster attitudes never changed. In fact it got worse. I brought my parents and family and was absolutely appalled and embarrassed by the way the staff treated us. The owner repeatedly put her hand in front of my face while serving food. I won't recommend this place any longer and will no longer be a patron. There are lots of restaurants and bars that have a better vibe, better food, and treat the customers in a civilized way. I edited my review. Used to be 5*. Is now 1*. Have been going here off and on for 25 years. The food has become dreadful. The wing special on Mondays is awful - wings are at most the size of my thumb and are dried out. Burger buns fall apart and you can't eat the burger. Had a quesadilla and it was so over salted I had to send it back. The drinks have ice to the top so you can't even stir them (served in those tall narrow glasses). Just when you think the perfect dive bar doesn't exist, you walk into the Kit Kat. Amazing artwork, friendly staff, TVs and great tasting bar food. We had a lot of fun eating here, and it is a great place to hang out and watch the game with friends. All of the food was great, and they even have specials. Super fun atmosphere, they even had karaoke when we went! The drinks were cheap -- they only accept cash though. The only thing I wish is that there was a little more seating because it gets so busy you can barely walk through. I have never had so much fun at karaoke night. The DJ was great. There is a local crowd that comes and sings and they are all very good and very fun to hang out with. The drinks were strong and you didn't have to wait in line too long to get a drink. We were only going to go out for a couple of drinks to chill on a Friday night and ended staying out till closing time because we were having so much fun! The bathrooms were very clean and it was a nice "safe" bar for a group of ladies. The age groups ranged from 21 to 70 but the crowd was all fun. Is there ANY OTHER WAY to describe the Kit Kat Klub, OTHER THAN dive bar? No, I don't think there is, but for once that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Is it small? Yup. Is it congested? Sure. Are the people less than savory? ABSOLUTELY! Why then, one may inquire, does this place just seem to work? I think it's the marrying of a small, community-minded establishment with more than decent food, cheap drinks, and a fun karaoke that make for the perfect storm of a good time. The wait staff has personality, but remain respectful and helpful. The food appeared to be cooked in a clean space with care. I don't drink, but my friends told me that the drinks are fairly cheap, without being watered down. All in all the Kit Kat Klub (KKK is what some people there called it, but saying it aloud is ill-advised) is everything you want in a cheap, broken down, hole-in-the-wall joint - a dive bar with character. I came here during the Covid craziness. I am new to the Macomb County area. I stopped in randomly for some ribs because they claim "best ribs in town". I was super disappointed when I saw a write up on the menu that said you had to give it a three hour notice for ribs. When the waitress came over I asked her if they were available and she said yes. Whole slab or a half slab meal with fries. I went with a whole slab. I liked very much that the barbecue sauce came on the side. The ribs were flavored and seasoned perfectly. Juicy, but not gooky. I would go back in a heartbeat. The ambience of the restaurant is very small and is, as all of the additional reviews said, "a dive bar". Oh the Kit Kat Klub... I remember when I first moved to the area, and people remarked that I was going to be so close. I thought I was moving near a strip club or something hahah. Well, when I first moved in I was definitely a regular here. The food is absolutely amazing. We came for dinner having no idea that the place turns into some sort of circus on the weekends! The waitresses would bring us another beer before we even asked. It was quiet etc. This was before the social media boom. Once that hit, we started noticing that a ton of people from highschool kept checking in here. So we went up on a Saturday evening to check it out. It's total chaos is a good way. It gets absolutely packed!! I have no idea how the bar tenders and waitresses keep up but they manage. They aren't very polite of course but it's a bunch of drunk crazy people so what do you expect. Best time to come is for kareoke. We went with a large group of friends one time and the only way to ensure we could sit was to pre order their world famous ribs. Do this. I'm telling you, do this at least once. Their ribs are phenomenal, and reasonably priced. You also get a ton of food. Not to mention, it turns into standing room only, so if you can sit, take advantage of it! There is only one male and one female bathroom, which can be a challenge. They only accept cash so come prepared for that! Now that there is no smoking, you won't have to worry about getting burned by a cigarette in the crowded room, and they have expanded their parking lot so that's a plus. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner once, and she's exactly what you'd expect. Love it! Definitely come here when the lock down is over, but bring your patience and a good attitude! If you love dive bars, then you must experience the Kit Kat club at least one in your life. Everyone brags about the ribs. You have to order them a day ahead. They are good, but not the best, in my opinion. If you want to have a good time order their Long Island ice teas and let the fun begin. The service is good, and the prices are very reasonable. The karaoke here is the best, the Dj is a large guy that is known for doing birthday lap dances. If you don't have fun here then you are a stick in the mud!! FYI, bring cash, that's all they take. You placed your rib order and celebrated the time away as your ribs rotisseried their way to perfection and the aroma would permeate the place and drive everyone crazy! Haven't been back in decades, but back then, the place seated perhaps 25 to 30... pretty cozy, really, was quite small, but always felt welcoming upon entering, and that's just part of the magic of this place! Tried to give it a chance but walked out for the third time for no service. The last straw.... went with my wife on 07/11/21 and sat at the bar for food and drinks. The bartender passed us several times and did not acknowledge us in any way. A "regular" next to us put money on the bar for Keno and was immediately helped. We had cash on the bar ready for service and he saw that but ignored us for some strange reason. We walked out.... That was the third time we walked out for poor service. We will never be back. Maybe it's the way that someone took a 1950's-era ranch style house, partially gutted it and turned it into a bar sitting in the middle of a neighborhood. Maybe it's the fact that this is apparently where middle aged housewives come for the night to completely forget that they're middle aged housewives, get hammered out of their minds, and dance on tables and chairs like they were celebrating their 21st birthday. Maybe it's the whispered murmurs of the urban legend that it's named with the initials "KKK" because it was once, well, a headquarters for uptight racists who liked to wear bedsheets and pointy hats. Maybe it's the fact that the bathrooms are smaller than your average phone booth. Maybe it's the morbidly obese karaoke dj who strips down to a thong whenever there's a birthday in the bar. Maybe it's that not a single night here has passed that I haven't gotten roped into at least one bizarre conversation with random strangers that has me shaking my head for days afterwards. Maybe it's the old couple that's been there every time I've gone, in their matching red, white and blue patriotic as all hell outfits, and how the husband still always sings one song to his wife of 65 years before they leave for the night that always brings the house down. Maybe it's the fact that I feel like I'm letting you in on my dirty little secret by telling you that I've been here. More than once. Maybe it's none of those things that make me love this place, maybe it's all of those things that make me love this place...but I do know that the only thing that I *don't* love about this place is that it's cash only. Leave the cards at home, folks - they won't do you any good here. Hit the ATM before you go, or else I *guess* you can use the one they have in the bar...which I'm pretty sure is from 1987 and they salvaged from a dumpster somewhere...and pay the accompanying fees to do so. In my mind, this is the ONLY negative to this place, and the only thing that keeps it from being 5-star. There are some other things that others might view as negatives, so I'll share them...and if any of these things keep you from coming...good. You probably wouldn't have had a good time anyway. It's tiny. If you're claustrophobic, by no means should you go here. Ever. If you freak out when random people touch you, you should never go here. And then there are those aforementioned loaded-up middle aged housewives that are on the prowl...and, well, things happen. If people bumping into you sends you into blind fits of rage, you should stay home and watch Roadhouse again instead of going here. If you love your car more than anything else in the world, and the thought of a dirt parking lot with people parking rather randomly and haphazardly sends you into the corner rocking back and forth fetal-style...you should not come here. If standing at a bar for more than three minutes before you can place your drink order makes you bug-eyed...then you should not come here. It gets crowded. The ladies behind the bar are only human. Deal with it. If you are not the kind of person that can stand up around a cocktail table and not absolutely freak out because there are no seats available...then either get there before 8pm or don't show up until after 1am, because that's just the way it is. Again: it gets crowded. Again: It's tiny. If none of that freaks you out...go. Odds are better than even that you'll have a helluva good time. As luck would have it, they had an extra slab of ribs available for the taking. I usually avoid eating ribs out at new places, as I'm usually disappointed. I should have followed my normal rules. They were okay, meaty, fell off the bone. But they had a generic smell, like plain meat cooked in an oven. Both my dining partner and I noticed it, like your Grandma (the one who wasn't the great cook) made them. I will go back and give their burger a try, but their ribs just aren't my thing. read more
