First, any restaurant with crispy tator tots climbs to the top of my list. RJ's did not disappoint. Combined with a burger, my pub food craving was happily satisfied. If you want a lively, noisy sports bar environment, RJ's is sure to please. Friendly staff, speedy service, lots of pub food options and what looks like a good variety of spirits (we don't drink so can't comment on the alcohol choices), RJ's may become your neighborhood "gathering place." This is my first visit to RJ's and I will be definitely returning. The atmosphere was rustic country with an authentic feel. The wait staff was quick and friendly. The food was excellent, one of the best Ruben sandwiches I've ever had. The price was also reasonable and the portions generous. The potato chips were just bagged chips, so don't expect gourmet food here. For good pub food and fast friendly service I would highly recommend RJ's. read more

This place is horrible and only pays attention to the man. They ignored me completely and only paid attention to my husband. They must have thought he was paying and tipping. Big mistake! My food was forgotten in the kitchen until my husband was halfway done with his food. When it was finally brought out to the table the waitress placed it in front of him. He had a plate of food in front of him and I did not. Clearly the food was for me. But you could not even make eye contact. Very disrespectful to your paying customer. Haley, you do not work at Hooters or tilted kilt. You work at a dive bar. Pay attention to the whole table not just who you think is paying. I am a great tipper and was a server myself. You lost out big. Enjoy your $5 tip. It could have been $50. Update: thank you RJ P management for the response. When my food finally came out it was placed in front of my husband who was already eating and had a plate in front of him. Why place the 2nd plate of food in front of someone who is already eating. Love, RJs pub! It's a great local dive type bar in the Rochester Hills community. Great spot to have a drink at the bar, watch a sports game, or as I frequently go to the Oakland University basketball's head coach Greg Kampe's radio show. Parking is not too bad. They also have a great outdoor deck area. When you walk inside, you are greeted by the bar and tables throughout. If you make a right and follow the hallway, you're in a more quieter dining type area. The staff here are always extremely friendly and attentive. Restrooms are clean and single stall use. Their menu has a lot of great bar food, staples, such as wings, pizza, and a nice selection of appetizers and sandwiches. Their prices are not bad, but if you add fries or want to upgrade, it can quickly become pretty pricey. They do charge a service fee for credit cards and their menu also notes charging extra for soft drink refills (you get one free refill). The food is amazing though! The appetizer of cauliflower with ranch always comes out piping hot and has a great batter on the cauliflower. I've had quite a few sandwiches, and every one is very good. Please do yourself a favor and get the seasoned fries! They have an amazing taste. The taste is hard to explain, but it has a salty and sweet type of seasoning. I would come here just for the season fries! My only complaint is they never have hard cider on tap. Otherwise, never had a bad meal and always had great service! read more

Can only speak about carry out (which I have been doing for years). They have always been kind. Make sure the order is correct, or they will correct it. Been a patron of them for decades. Never steered me wrong. Food is great. A true sample of this community. Support younger people getting jobs, but have people who are experienced working just as, if not harder, behind the scenes. Ricky Jimmys Pub or "RJ's" Pub is a Rochester institution. Many a high school parent has come here post football or basketball game, win or lose, and filled their bellies with pizza, wings, and nacho plates bigger then the table. The beer is cold, pizza is good, and the servers do a nice job. Both Ricky and Jimmy should win an award for consistency. Oh, and pull tabs might be the greatest thing ever. read more

I know I've been here in the past, but that was a very long time ago. I met up with a friend here for dinner at their suggestion to go check it out. I can't say I was all that excited about coming here because it's kind of a random place, and there's so many other options available. But, who wants to deal with the hot mess of parking in downtown Rochester and dealing with long dinner wait times? Not me. Walking in, the place was surprisingly busy! Even with Covid going on, the place was packed even with every other table closed off for social distancing. We were greeted by our waitress and given menus to review what to order. They do a lot of pizza here, and I think that's what their known for. Neither one of us wanted pizza, so we started small with an appetizer. I chose the tater tots because I love them so much. They came out seasoned along with a house ranch sauce for dipping and some ketchup as well. There was a nice amount and we were able to easily split the basket and still curb our hunger. Eventually, my friend decided to order Nachos, which sounded tasty. We did not expect it to be a massive pile of food! I had to help him eat the food since it was way to much for one person. It came out on one of those pizza platters from the 1970's? it was hilarious! Our server was pretty good and we have no complaints about being here. Kind of a nice alternative to being in downtown Rochester with all the traffic and slightly more relaxing. Would return again for decent food and ease of location. read more

This wasn't our planned restaurant for girls day but that restaurant was closed due to "unexpected construction". RJ's was close so we went there. The food was delicious. The fried pickle chips really crispy, the pizza crust was outstanding and our waitress was very nice. I would go back again if I am in the area. read more

My friends and I (a group of up to 7!) have been coming to RJ's Pub on a weekly basis all of last winter and this winter to eat and play trivia! The host, Dina, is a GEM! Dina, the great food, and the friendly staff is what keeps us coming back each week. We love the seasoned fries, the chicken tender dinner, the cheese bread, and the chicken sandwich wrap. If you enjoy getting ripped off with over priced drinks... THIS is the place for you. We ordered 2 margaritas .... They served us a small 12oz glass that was not nearly 3/4 full, so appx 8 oz. We would of complained about the short serve if we had known the were going to charged us $20 + $4 (hence $12 each). Then told us that if we wanted a bigger one we could order a double.... Which apparently was a 16 oz glass, also only 3/4 full. After we drank the margarita, I took a cup & filled the "16 oz" with water to the appx line where the margarita came to & poured it on the smaller "12 oz" glass and it didn't even fill up the 12 oz ... and they charged us $22 ($20 + $20 + $4). These are by the far the smallest wings I've ever had. I posted a pair of the wings next to a pair of quarters for comparison...the 2 quarters lined up are the size of their wings. Sometimes you get what you pay for and the 60 cense wings left much to the imagination. I will say the wait staff was nice and the low rating is for the kitchen and not their doing. Call me a prude but in 2018, I'm not a fan of the posters of nearly naked women on the wall. Maybe different strokes for different folks, but I think it's distasteful even for a dive bar. read more

We have been ordering from RJ's in Rochester Hills for as long as they have been open - always carry out. From time to time some of the dinners were questionable, but this past Friday was a culinary disaster. I ordered 4 piece fish dinner, my wife ordered shrimp dinner, and my daughter ordered chicken tenders. I have never had chewy fish, with a batter that bullets would have bounced off. Same with shrimp and chicken tenders. Dinners were way over cooked with grease that must have been in fryer since beginning of time. Batter was about as bad a batter could be. French fries were over cooked and chewy. Chewy, chewy, chewy! Not only was food not edible, but when my wife checked online menu before we ordered, the menu was old with most of the items listed were no longer available. My wife called to complain about the food we ordered and was told they promised next time we ordered food they would not overcook it! No "we are sorry and let us correct and give you new order". Not overcook it! How great is that, and one of the worst things someone could say. My wife also told them to take the menu off line given it not at all useful. We will continue to order carry out, but will have to request not to overcook and not use bullet proof batter. Online menu needs to go. read more

What a joke of management on duty. We (two) returned to watch Thursday Night football as we had the week before, but was met with a different experience. We entered the venue and was told to sit anywhere by the waitstaff. It was busy and there were two tables open; one that faced a wall and a 6 top that allowed us to see the TV's. We sat at the six top round. The server came by and asked if we would move, I said that we are here to watch the games and don't want to stare at the wall. She gave us menus and said I will be right back. In the mean time, a shaved head punk, I assume the manager, came to the table and said since we have only two we need to move. I said we are here to watch the games and the table you offer faces the wall. He said we can stand at the game rail. WHAT??? You want me to stare at a wall or stand after I was told, sit anywhere. He got close to my face and said we need to move. I told him, we spent money last week, and we will gladly take our money elsewhere. Keep in mind the room was watching the interaction and it was embarrassing. We did live and spent our money at a competitor. I don't know why they 1) would say sit yourself anywhere if it was an issue 2) whay they wouldn't have offered to hang out for a minute with your beer while we wait for another table to open. Very poor, untrained management taht gets in your face. Needless to say, not intimidating and if it wasn't a family place with kids, it might have ended differently. So enjoy your bad decisions, there are many other places to spend money in town. PS the chicken wings are micro sized, so don't bother. read more

It was very loud & obnoxious tonight with a kids softball team screaming & yelling as they were watching the game. Parents were all sitting at separate tables, no supervision. This is a BAR, not a place to bring children! Certain parents need to stop being selfish & think of others. Waitstaff weren't able to do anything, so we had to leave the establishment like everyone else around us and took our business elsewhere! Can't wait for Hamlin Pub to open!!! Since my husband has never visited this local establishment, we stopped in last week for a visit to the past. The bar was not busy, but we could barely get attention of a bartender. Our first round of drinks took about 15 minutes to arrive and the menu arrived 45 minutes into our adventure. When the server finally came over to ask what we would like to order (at 65 minutes in), we declined and received our tab. Thinking we were still in 1989, we expected 1989 pricing. My short Jack and soda was $7. Dive bar atmosphere for a fine dining price. Next time I will go for finer dining. read more

Was expecting to love this place based on my initial impression, but it faded quickly. While I didn't order anything (get this... I came for the AC/DC pinball machine. Shocker.), my friend did, and the servers are awkward and clueless and just all-around bad. Ten minutes after he got his beer, a woman came by to ask to see his I.D. Uh, little late there. They do have some great specials depending on the day you visit. Hopefully the food is better than the service -- I also like the ambiance. It has a dive kind of vibe, but... it's kind of nice? As for the pinball machine, why the hell do they even have it? Why would you buy an AC/DC pinball machine and then disable the sound on it? Would you buy a book with the pages ripped out? Come on. I mean if it were a pinball table that wasn't based off of a BAND I might understand it, but instead I had to listen to "American Top Crappy" playlist. I will probably come back to see how their food is, but the service is bad, and the AC/DC machine is rendered essentially pointless when you can't hear any of the music. read more
