My husband and I had a BLAST here. I think the best thing about this place is the location. We had an early dinner down the road and were walking it off when we decided to just pop in to see. The central location of this place with all the main street restaurants just makes sense. We wondered in thinking maybe we would do billiards. It was $12 an hour which we thought was fair. I recommend coming in early. The tables filled up fast as the night went on. Surprisingly, I really wanted to play darts once i saw they had it so we opted for the fun dart machines in the corner. It honestly was great and we played for like an hour for like $6 total (bring small bills!) You get the darts from behind the check in counter. The dart machines are convenient and does the math for you. They even had a bunch of different game options. We were craving something sweet but their dessert menu is pretty limited (funnel cake and deep fried cheesecake). I'm sure their other food is good but we didn't end up getting anything since we were so stuffed and we just wanted dessert. The waitress was super nice though. I would absolutely come back again. I went to Main Street Billiards with my two roommates and we ended up losing our house key while we were there. When we came back around 2 a.m. to look for it, the bouncers and security refused to let the three of us in--even though they were letting several men in just to use the bathroom. Instead of helping, they kept questioning how we could've lost just a house key and not an entire purse, which felt unnecessary and dismissive. At one point, they even suggested we were trying to "sneak out the back," which was completely untrue and honestly insulting. After a lot of back-and-forth, they finally allowed only one of us to go in briefly, but the staff remained rude and unhelpful the entire time. The only person who showed any kindness or understanding was a woman working there, who was actually sympathetic to our situation. It turned an already stressful situation into a frustrating and disappointing experience. Definitely not the kind of customer service you'd expect. 0/10 read more

My partner asked 2 different servers who said the manager is the only one that can change the TV (we wanted to watch the Wings that is why we went out that night). I was skeptical coming here after reading the reviews, I went anyways. Zero problems. Walked to the desk and rented a pool table. They gave my friend and I the cues, a couple of chalks, and the balls in a holder. We can pick any table, there were a dozen, and paid when we left. The bar was on the opppsite side and looked very new and updated with mellow lighting. Everyone was polite and a good time to talk to, even the other patrons. It was a very clean and laid back place. They even have darts, Ms. Pacman/Galaga, pinball, etc. machines against the wall in the corner. This place covers all of the bases. I'd happily come back again. read more

Surprised to see such bad reviews and ratings. I've only been here once but it was a lot of fun. It did take a very long time to get a pool table but there was a waitress coming around taking drink orders. I didn't have any food here because I had already ate but this is a cool place if you like pool and basketball games as well as ping pong. You literally have to run around chasing the one or two servers in the entire place (if you're lucky). This review received two stars because the waitress was so kind and nice. However, for a party of 2 it cost 8 dollars pool - while we ordered 3 vodka sodas and an iced tea, I was charged 52 dollars. Yes that is not a mistake, 52 dollars. The iced tea cost me 19 alone, but let me explain.... There one was one, really nice waitress with a full pool hall. Upon ordering I let her know if she wanted to bring me a pitcher for the night to save her from my constant refills, I would accept. She gladly said, yes thank you, I got you. However, she failed to declare an up charge for the tea - 16 dollars for the pitcher and 3 for the first glass. Totally appalled at this practice and charge. Cool place for a night out. I have only been there on weekends so not sure on the entertainment part of it during the week nights. But, on weekends they offer a DJ with a dance floor and plenty of room to get your boogie on lol. Variety of music but mostly more of today's stuff. Plenty of pool tables, a few dart games and other games. Drinks at the bar are definitely more expensive than other bars but what do you expect for Rochester lol. Food has been pretty amazing every time we have gone so nothing bad to say there. Always warm, juicy and flavorful. Service has always been up to par with waitresses or waiters checking up all the time. Go check the place out for a fun night playing games or just relaxing at the bar or by their fireplace. read more

Once upon a time in my young 20's, I was a regular at this hot spot in Rochester. I basically lived here every weekend. The dance floor was always packed, the drinks were always strong, the pool tables in the front are a great way to socialize and mingle, and the patio outside was a nice touch for some fresh air when sweat stuck to your back. But I haven't been here much within the last few years, since my partying days came to an end. I came for a birthday party with a group of 20 people. We made a reservation in advance for 8:30 on a Saturday night. It was nice to see the place so quiet for once. Or as I should say, the calm before the storm. The service was prompt and friendly and the food was awesome. This is probably the closest thing to a club you'd find in Rochester. Filled with ages 21-50. I'd come back for the food, but being a night owl here is fun too sometimes. The only downfall is not being able to move anywhere when it gets so packed. read more

I went here during the Rochester Christmas Lights with some college friends and had a fun time. FYI - There is an entire dance club in the back, WHO KNEW! It was a pretty relaxed vibe and had a wide variety of customers (probably since I went on winter break it skewed younger than usual). We came here for a party that my sister planned. My sister is extremely detail oriented and visited them twice before the event to make sure everything was ironed out. Appetizers were supposed to be out at 6:30 and food at 7:00, buffet style. Beer, wine, and pitchers of soda were supposed to be included on my sisters tab. Tables reserved etc. My aunt got there at 6:30, told them she was there and they handed her a menu. My aunt points out that it is supposed to be a buffet. The waitress knows nothing about it. The manager on duty doesn't have a clue. We get there at 7...starving and nothing was ready. My sister lost her mind at that point. They did promptly correct it and were very apologetic. They rectified the situation and took $100 off the bill. It's easy to make a bad situation right. The food was quite good. I didn't care for the pizza, but I know others did. Billiards were fun. Some of the patrons were very rude, but that's not the restaurant's fault. Overall, it was a fun experience, they rectified their mistake and the food and service were good. My friends and I decided to grab a drink here on Friday night after we had dinner next door at the Bistro. Overall, the place was pretty good; Bartenders were friendly and quick to take care of customers, it had a fun atmosphere, wasn't overly crowded. My biggest issue with this establishment was the bouncer that "greeted" us. This man was unpleasant from the get-go. No "Hi, can I see your IDs please" just said "ID" with a look like he hated life or his job. He then proceeds to have each one of us step forward so he could wave the metal detector wand over us. Now I live in Chicago, and we don't have that happen there and I've been to bars in Detroit and many other cities, and this is the first time I've had to be checked for weapons before going into a bar/ pool hall. My friends and I did it without complaint, but he had such an attitude. Also, I don't know why he had to ask us to spread our legs further when the TSA seems to do it just fine with my legs spread as wide as they were; creepy. Anyway, the bouncer was the worst part about the place and sadly he was the first impression. Perhaps they should hire or train better. Also, why do they have to check for weapons, what kind of place is it? Does that make me feel safer or less safe that they feel the need to do that in the first place? read more

I want to start of this story by saying as a college student in Rochester, Main Street has been my favorite place to go in the entire city. The weekends are so much fun, and the bartenders on the weekends are great, helpful, quick, and very nice. However, the night of Wednesday 4/26 to the morning of 4/27, I have never received such terrible service at the establishment. I myself have worked in the restaurant business since I was able to work, so me going out of my way to write a review is very rare especially since I'm the type of person who hates reviews. Therefore, this night made me very angry. Wednesday night my friends and I decided to go out to main street to celebrate the end of our college career. We graduate this weekend, and since Mainstreet had been our favorite place to go since we turned 21 we headed there around 11:30pm. It was quiet compared to what it usually was, but still a small line at the bar which was normal. What wasn't normal was being completely ignored by the woman bartender while she instead decided to either talk to whatever men who was already sitting at the bar, or serve the men who got in line after us. Completely ignoring our existence, even though the men she was serving were standing directly next to us. The place was so slow too, not even the stools at the bar were filled up, it was genuinely easier to get a drink on New Years Eve then it was with this specific bartender. Finally a man came out and served us, and he was nothing but nice and took our orders. I realized though, he was probably a bar back or something because he was often doing other jobs besides serving drinks. The next drink we all decided to split a pitcher of beer, it was normal and we sipped on it for the next hour. We then decided we should go sit at the bar because it was empty besides two girls and we wanted one more drink before we left. Again, we were completely ignored and a completely empty bar. Again, an older man came up and was immediately served by the woman bartender while we waited. Eventually, the older man started to talk to me and that was the only way I was able to get the woman bartenders attention was by reminding her I was there. Then, as she was making the older man's drinks I assume a regular walked in and she started throwing the F bomb around because she doesn't like serving him. Then yelling at the male bar back not to leave her, although it was obvious he was putting stuff away. Again, she ignored all four of us girls in my group. Pretending like we didn't exist, filling up her water bottle, talking to the regular, ignoring us. Even though it was obvious we didn't have any drinks, finally after waiting 20 minutes at a basically empty bar I just simply asked for my bill and one more vodka cran. Like I said, I've been going to mainstreet for years at this point. I've never had a problem with my drink, but my last drink was completely unacceptable. Filled the entire glass with cranberry juice, with about half a second of vodka and gave it to me along with my tab. Compared to the several vodka crans I've had there before, this was insane to me. You usually get a decent amount of vodka in your drinks, but this time was not like that at Al lol. I could not believe it, I looked at the girls in my group and they also saw the minuscule amount of vodka that was poured into the drink and all we could think was "what the fuck" because that is so unacceptable. Especially when you're pouring shots and drinks, for the men that come up and all of those a normal amounts of liquor. I never said anything and just paid my bill, because once again I'm a sever and I know how annoying customers can be. I was just so let down Wednesday night. I'm moving out of the area because I'm graduating and I just wanted to celebrate one more time at my favorite bar. I'm not sure why is group of young women were so blatantly ignored by the bartender (not the male one). The whole night in general we were probably at the empty bar for an entire hour before we got noticed, and when we did it's because we had to physically say something to her. It made no sense she was serving the constant group of males that would come up though. I just felt completely overlooked, and the bartender was unprofessional, rude, and lazy. Not only ignoring the women who were in line at an empty bar, but throwing the f bomb around and all around being a pick me girl. In conclusion, although the weekends at Billiards are so fun and are totally worth it. Do not go on Wednesday night, terrible and I mean terrible, disappointing service. I'm still not sure why the men who were inline after us were prioritized the entire time we were there. (I still tipped 20%) read more

Came here for the second time and had an awful experience. The drinks are watered down and the waitress is negligent at best. She came to check on us every 45 minutes or so, sometimes more. The place was completely empty. We came for happy hour because they advertised Tiki Thursday's happy hour. There's no happy hour menu. No happy hour foods and no happy hour cocktails. Only beer and mixed drinks are minimally less than normal. They also said that tiki Thursday's has been cancelled due to lack of participation but they continue to advertise on Facebook and even in the bar itself. Very disappointed. The table next to us also said their food walk cold and tasted terrible, but since I have no first hand experience I probably shouldn't put too much stock in it. I've been here quite a bit, and I'm not at all impressed after 9pm. I grabbed lunch here sometimes with friends; it was a great place to spend an hour having lunch AND shooting pool. Service was fast, and the food was always excellent. They do the sort of food you'd expect in a pool hall, but kicked up a notch to where it's passable as actual food made by people: spicy chicken sandwiches, big burgers, and fried stuff covered in cheese. And I can say the tables here are the nicest tables I've played in a pool hall. Slapsticks, Snookers, and all those other places with equally witty names can't hold a candle to the tables here. The felt is actually kept well - some of those other places have tables that look like they were brushed with cheese graters! But like I said... I have a problem with this place after 9pm. It becomes a "dance club", which means that they have a bouncer to scrutinize your dress, charge you way more than it's worth for "atmosphere," all the while being surrounded by a mostly young and rowdy crowd dancing to... real bad club music. If you're looking for a place to play pool after 9pm, you might want to try one of those other places that has drink specials. Definitely two stars off for pretending to be a club. Beyond that, if you can get into MSB when it's slow (so basically, before 6pm dinner) it really is a wonderful hall to unwind in. Been coming here for years. Great place to play pool and darts. The layout is in 2 folds: one area where you play pool and hangout and on the other side is a dance floor. They do have an outdoor area with a fire pit in the middle which I enjoy. Food and drinks are nothing special and they normally charge on Saturdays at the door (for guys).
