I have such mixed feelings about Madison's. The location is honestly great, and the patio is where this place really wins. Huge covered outdoor bar, a stage for live music, and a big fire pit that makes it feel like it should be the spot. The setup is there. But something just feels a little... off. It still has that early 2010s bro-bar energy, and it doesn't quite match how nice the space could be. I also didn't even realize they served food, which probably says something about how it's presented. That said, the music is always solid. It's a fun place to grab a drink after work and hang out for a bit. Just not somewhere I find myself staying long or choosing over other spots nearby. If I can offer anything to the team, I think leaning into the vibe of that patio and elevating the atmosphere a bit would go a long way. The first thing you need to understand about Madison's is that it is a bar, first and foremost. Actually, it's two bars: one indoor, one outdoor. A lot of places have scaled back the number of beers on tap the last few years, so I wasn't surprised to see only one tap in front of me. But, it was one I liked, so I ordered a Guinness. I got it in the can. No problem, but I need to know if you're someone who likes exploring the draft beer selection. My wife's Moscow Mule was strong, and reasonably priced, like everything else on the menu here. Sandwiches are served with chips, but you can get fries for an extra $2 and onion rings for an extra $3. The total bill for 2 meals with sides and drinks only cost $28. Take that, fancy pants west side restaurants, where $28 won't even buy the most expensive main course. Her grilled chicken sandwich was a bit dry, but the barbecue sauce that was served with it was excellent. She ate the whole thing. The fries were crispy and tasty. I ordered the Maddy's Melt. I was impressed that the food came out so quickly, but I'm not sure how they managed to overcook the chicken and under cook my burger. I asked for a medium, and it was medium rare. I wasn't going to say anything, but my wife is pushier than than I am. The bartender seemed to have no issue with remaking the burger. I would've been happy if they just put mine in the microwave, but I understand why they can't for sanitary reasons. Having something remade is a mixed bag. You do get what you originally ordered, eventually. But, in the meantime, everybody else has finished their meal. The replacement sandwich came out, and it was slightly more cooked, but still not medium. I told my wife not to say anything. They were nice enough to also make another basket of onion rings to go with it. The Maddy's Melt is a half pound burger served with sautéed onions and Swiss on rye. There normally is also a slice of American cheese, but I asked for them to only use Swiss. This sandwich really has potential, but it's hard to judge with an undercooked burger. The meat tasted like standard ground beef, and was not particularly beefy like chuck would have been. It was also greasy, due to the meat and the onions. But, considering how cheap everything is here, I could definitely see ordering this again, and maybe ask for it well done so it comes out the way I want it. It will definitely be back here, since the prices are great, the drinks are strong, and the service is great. But, I will remember that this is a bar...two bars, in fact. If I could leave zero stars I would. Service was absolutely horrible. When I finally after 20 minutes of waiting for our waitress to come pick up my bill, I took it to her, which infuriated her. I told her I didn't know when she was coming back, she mother f'ed me and told me there were plenty of other f-ing bars in Mt Clemens to go to! I'm pretty sure she was drunk. Holy cow. There is so much hate against this place. I've never had an issue from the numerous times I've gone here. I've only been here to drink/party. Their rum runners are dangerous! Have two and you're great for the night. The only thing I don't like is the plastic cups. One, it's bad for the environment. And two, the drinks don't stay cold. This bar unfortunately attracts a very young crowd. This may not be their fault but there is NO way that some of these kids are over 21. I am only rating this bar a 3/5 because the bar itself is very cool and the outside patio is awesome. Yet, on the weekends this place becomes a mad house with people you know from everywhere. This ultimately makes it hard to get a drink sometimes. I have seen multiple fights outside of this bar on multiple different occasions. All in which the cops were involved to the point of physical force. I personally do not enjoy going to Madison's. Not because of the bar but because it turns into a high school reunion for me and it is very club like, whereas I like a more relaxed environment. Will never go to Madison's again. This place has gone down hill in the past year. Use to be a great place to go but not anymore. After half an hour sitting at a table, I had to wave down a waitstaff in order to get a menu and order a beer. We waited an hour and a half before this guy came back to take our order and he was totally rude to us. At which time I told him to just give me my bill and that I was leaving. Outstanding! We held our 50/51st class reunion at Madison's yesterday afternoon/evening and the best way to describe our experience is OUTSTANDING! Wes went out of his way to ensure everything was perfect. The food was fabulous, the drinks delicious, the wine selections were excellent and the pours were generous, the venue was perfect with both inside and outside seating, the bartenders were friendly and accommodating, and our reunion went off without a hitch! Had the worst experience as soon as i walked in. Sat down and after 15 minutes the bartender yelled over to us "you guys need to come up to the bar if you want something." After going up to the bar and ordering drinks my friends and I continued to notice that the bartender and workers were talking about us and the "regulars" would turn around and look at us. I then witnessed one of the bar backs do disgusting gestures that included Nazi "heil Hitler" arm movements. Then as we preceded to leave the same bar back made everything uncomfortable and yelled to the bartender for everyone to hear and asked if my friends and I paid our tab. Yesterday me and the group of people I was with were at a funeral for an 18 year old that passed away in an auto accident. We had a great celebration of life but all in all a stressful week. We came to Madison's and the mom of the 18 year old son that passed went to the bar upstairs when I was there, and smiled and waved to the bartender just to acknowledge the eye contact but not the wave of like "hey I need to order a drink" she just said hello with a smile. The bartender as insensitive and disgusting she was and definitely drunk decided to go off on her and say don't wave at me like that it's really rude. The mom of the son explained she wasn't being rude she was just saying hey, and the bartender goes "I know but still understand that's rude" the mom stepped away from the bar pissed off reasonably so because the bartender is an unstable women that probably shouldn't work at a late night bar if someone waving at her sets her off, so she gave us our drinks and says "here you go I made them weak" that obviously pissed the mom off more and so she got mad. I then decided to explain to her what this mother has gone through and she being the insensitive poor soul she was says "do you want to hear what I went through today?" So I said did you lose a kid? She just didn't say anything or even try to understand she just kept going off about what she deals with but with no respect for the mother at all. Then 2 random drunks at the other end who have no idea what we talked about started giving the bartender some credit for going off, and she was receptive of it. She could've taken that chance to tell them "hey this lady is going through a lot" but no she was so stuck on her train of thought that not even a mother that just lost her son could even change her mind. Was looking to get out of the house for a little bit realizing Madison's was also an outdoor bar. So I thought it would be a good idea. Got to the gate they wanted five dollars for cover. I asked oh is there a band? Response no Band they just packed up and left. Oh I asked do you still want five dollars cover? Yes was answer. The mango ahi salad with tuna at Madison's Pub is one of the best salads I've ever had. It's a bed of fresh lettuce topped with strawberries, mango, candied pecans, crumbled bleu cheese and grilled tuna. With food tasting that good, it's no surprise to find quite the gathering of local professionals dining at the pub during the lunch hour. While the pub is a great spot for lunch, it also offers an exciting nightlife. There is a DJ, dancing, after work happy hour and of course, Madison's patio is hot spot during the summer months. The pub is located in the business district of Mt. Clemens at the corners of the main thoroughfares, Cass and Gratiot Avenues. Madison's downtown location is ideal for pub crawlers as there are several other bars, pubs, restaurants and a nightclub in walking distance. Parking is available on the street and in municipal parking lots, and all parking in the business district is metered. I would suggest putting an extra quarter in the meter, if you may run over the time limit. The police constantly patrol the area, and they are quick to write parking tickets for expired meters. It's better to pay 25 cents extra rather than $10! read more

I actually really enjoyed my time at Madisons. We were here for a bachelorette party and I remember we all had a lot of fun. Being able to sit outside on such a nice day was really nice. The food was good and the drinks were good but the service was just OK. If I remember correctly, we had a lot of trouble flagging her down. The crowd here was a lot of older people and that kind of brought the mood down a little bit. We were the youngest people in there. You don't really want to be the youngest people in the restaurant if you're at a bachelorette party haha. I would definitely come back and give this place another chance. read more

On Friday night, we came here to meet a friend. It was total chaos because it was the night of the Stars & Stripes Fireworks in Mt. Clemens. As soon as we got in, my friend had to use the restroom. Why am I mentioning this first? I was impressed that they had a bathroom attendant that was only allowing a limited number of people in the bathroom at a time. Madison's was packed with girls wearing tiny little outfits, lots of makeup and big hair. I can only imagine how chaotic & nasty that bathroom would be if they didn't have some control over the situation. This kept the bathroom clean, toilet paper/paper towel filled, and sinks were accessible for washing hands. I've never seen this at a bar, and truly appreciate the hard work of the attendant. She had to deal with a lot of stupidity. They also did this with the bathroom outside. We ventured to the bar outside, hoping it would be our best bet for getting a drink. I figured finding a waitress would be impossible. We waited about 15 minutes to get service at the bar. Everyone was ordering these Rum Runners, which I was told were pretty awesome. Although it took what seemed like forever to get a couple of beers, it wasn't because the bartenders weren't busting their asses. The bartender who helped us was flying. She definitely earned her tips that night. We made it upstairs, where things were a little calmer. We actually had a waitress, who was very attentive and nice. Had I known that's where we were going to end up, I would've gone directly to that bar & gotten quicker service. We ordered lemon drops which kinda sucked. I'm not sure if that's their usual or if they just did the minimum due to the volume of business that night. I don't know if I'll go back to Madison's because I don't hang out in Mt. I was denied entry for wearing shorts. The dress code said no basketball shorts, I was wearing above the knee adidas running shorts with a tag that said running shorts that were 10x classier compared to most people's attire... two people at the gate were cool but one of the security guards who will probably work there the rest of his life was heckling from behind the gate while I was keeping my cool. I you have "Pub" in the name of the restaurant, you should at least be able to offer good fish & chips. Well, this place didn't get that memo. The fish here is sub-standard unless you prefer cod(?) that is not white and flaky and batter that comprised 70% of the volume of the fried fish. The chips were just your standard frozen fries out of a bag, not very creative or appetizing. My wife had the chicken quesadilla that was dry and tasteless, not very good actually. The server was not very pleasant nor very interested in our experience. She took our order with an air of apathy, served the food and we never saw her again until she dropped off the check. Never asking if we needed anything else. In fact, when she brought the fish & chips, she asked if I wanted any tarter sauce. I didn't know tarter sauce was optional in the USA for fish & chips. The food was rather pricey for the quality and the neighborhood and with the luke warm service, we were thoroughly unimpressed. I see no reason to ever return to the place. What amazes me about places like this is that they can't even get the basics right. Why serve mediocre food, I just don't get it. It's so easy to make it right, why not do it that way. I really enjoy the outside seating but the bar gets a little tight. Came here with some friends and attempted to get on the wi-fi to adjust our fantasy football teams (we are all in a money league) and the wi-fi sucks and is insanely (I should've bolded insanely) slooooooow. If you're going to be a sports bar please make sure your wi-fi works or is at least fast enough to do something simple like updating your fantasy teams. Had I brought my work computer in and attempted to VPN into my network I would've been very upset. Friendly staff and ample parking. Make some changes and I'll move this to a 4 star. read more
