You need either military ID, veteran's card or dependent ID to enter and shop here. I don't shop here often since it's a drive for me, but when I'm in the area, I always take advantage of the sales and it's tax free. I love their variety of fresh deli meat, great selection of veggies and fruits and meats. The store is clean and well organized. Staffs are friendly. Their selection of fresh food is limited, like their sushi options and chicken. It can be a hit or miss with they have. I love how it's never crowded when I'm shopping and the lines moves quickly.

    Nice WIDE isles.

AWARENESS: After checking for Commissaries still open in the Bay Area and beyond, I learned, both the PX and Commissary here at McClellan were still open. Road trip! NARRATIVE: My first trip to McClellan Commissary was back in January. Since then, I've made the trek and returned to shop for my groceries at least three times a month. Unlike Moffett Fields Commissary, this one is HUGH. They have lots of fresh produce and meats and if your like me, who always looks for the weird or hard to find items like; Red Kamaboko for my Udon soup or, freshly cooked and still hot turkey tails, this commissary will not disappoint. SCENE: The McClellan Commissary and PX are joined together and are located at the now closed McClellan Air Force Base, off of Watt Avenue, between the Rio Linda and North Highland areas of Sacramento. EVIDENCE: McClellan's Commissary has it all. A nice, clean store with every imaginable grocery item you can think of, and then some. The most impressive thing about the store IMO Is they're HUGH isles. You can actually have three shoppers with their carts, side by side on each isle. Nice! RECOMMENDATION(S): If you have access or, know someone who does. I would highly recommend you get you bottom to the store to save some money.

Commissary hours of operation and shopping cart photo bomb.

The only local BX. What more can I say. Unless you want to take a 45 minute drive, it is as good as it gets.

Ask the Community - McClellan Air Force Base Commissary

Do they allow service connected disabled Veterans with a VA ID card shop at this location? I know it used to be for only active military and retirees (and their spouses) but I was informed recently (starting Jan 1, 2020) that the policy changed.

Yes they do. It is posted a n the ID counter.

    Is the Commissary still open?

    Yes it is

My husband is 100 percent disabled. Can we get I'd for the store?

Is he or was he in the Military? You need a military ID to shop there

My friend and I visited this past Sunday to do some Christmas shopping and I ended up buying at least 2 or 3 of the items I needed. This location is actually a lot cleaner and more organized than other locations which was nice! It is located off of Marconi Ave in the same shopping center as Trader Joe's and Five Below. They had a ton of wrapping paper and lots of great items for stocking stuffers and White Elephant gifts. I love finding random items that I never knew I needed! I bought around 8 items for under $60 so it was definitely a good deal! Staff were friendly and the check out line moved quickly!

Even if it is a bit of a drive from our house, we do visit every now and then. The store is quite expansive, and quite well lit. Me and my poor eyes don't have to squint to read the fine print or even make use of my glasses. There's the odd item on the floor left behind by uncaring or reckless customers...especially on busy days, so a bit of care should be exercised when walking the aisles. The place does get crowded, especially on the weekends. Parking feels a bit limited, but of course, a public lot is never under the store's control. The price is reasonable. And the staff, if on hand, are very helpful...trying to be cheerful on crowded, busy days. There's a lot to see, so be prepared to spend an hour or more during your visit. Not a bad place to spend your time...and money.

Deseret is great go to for basics. Need some new jeans, a blazer, mens shirt, etc? I always check here first because they have a large array of things & sizes. My guy is tall, so we have a harder time. I also always check for blankets & fabric, as well as office supplies. Yep, for my home office. The outside area is an adventure, you never know what you will find. A few weeks ago I came for shorts and found a painting! I used to find great clothes, but sadly Deseret is getting so much "plastic" donations. Shein is taking over. I sew, so I would always find some great pieces to alter to my size & liking. The mens section is still good, but the womens is thin. Parking is always easy. The store is very clean, and Managers are very approachable for questions & pricing (the ladies, the men always seem stressed out and not so approachable. Just my opinion). The prices have gone up a little, but are still very good. My daughter lives in LA, and we always stop in when she is here. A Sacramento gem.

First, when the lid of a little box fell, one of the ladies basically ripped the item from our 7 yr old. She was perfectly behaved, and monitored, but when she picked up the box to BUY IT, the improperly taped lid fell off. We let the lady know that we were in charge of the situation. Everything was OK, but she stood around and glared at us. Our little girl was made so uncomfortable that she didn't want the box anymore. We looked around some more, and while I was in the furniture section, I overheard the two ladies behind the counter mentioning how they normally always have to watch the darker skinned people. I had to do a double take to make sure I heard them correctly. Obviously my whiteness was not a threat for them. Not only were they very rude, they were also obviously profiling both my friend, and the other colored ladies that were in the store. We immediately put down anything we were going to purchase and left the store. The only reason I did not confront the ladies right then and there is because we had a child with us. My friend, who is Latina, told me later in the parking lot that while I was looking at things with her little granddaughter, she was on the other side of the store, and that one of the staffers was following her around the whole time. I will not be coming here again
