Growing up as a dependent, this is the commissary is the only grocery store we shopped at. We now get to shop here when my hubby gets orders for working overseas. But that isn't often and it's usually for the duration of his order with a few added days before/after. This commissary is much more bigger than the one in Beale AFB, I love that the aisles are wide and not having to move over constantly. Their meat is great quality and I usually buy my meat at Raley's, Costco, or Sam's. Remember the days you would clip coupons? Well, they have those paper coupons for you to use if you need one. I saw so many coupons here, they were in every aisle! Plus, they have a pretty decent selection of European and Asian food items. I shall return the next time hubs gets orders.

You need either military ID, veteran's card or dependent ID to enter and shop here. I don't shop here often since it's a drive for me, but when I'm in the area, I always take advantage of the sales and it's tax free. I love their variety of fresh deli meat, great selection of veggies and fruits and meats. The store is clean and well organized. Staffs are friendly. Their selection of fresh food is limited, like their sushi options and chicken. It can be a hit or miss with they have. I love how it's never crowded when I'm shopping and the lines moves quickly.

    Nice WIDE isles.

AWARENESS: After checking for Commissaries still open in the Bay Area and beyond, I learned, both the PX and Commissary here at McClellan were still open. Road trip! NARRATIVE: My first trip to McClellan Commissary was back in January. Since then, I've made the trek and returned to shop for my groceries at least three times a month. Unlike Moffett Fields Commissary, this one is HUGH. They have lots of fresh produce and meats and if your like me, who always looks for the weird or hard to find items like; Red Kamaboko for my Udon soup or, freshly cooked and still hot turkey tails, this commissary will not disappoint. SCENE: The McClellan Commissary and PX are joined together and are located at the now closed McClellan Air Force Base, off of Watt Avenue, between the Rio Linda and North Highland areas of Sacramento. EVIDENCE: McClellan's Commissary has it all. A nice, clean store with every imaginable grocery item you can think of, and then some. The most impressive thing about the store IMO Is they're HUGH isles. You can actually have three shoppers with their carts, side by side on each isle. Nice! RECOMMENDATION(S): If you have access or, know someone who does. I would highly recommend you get you bottom to the store to save some money.

Commissary hours of operation and shopping cart photo bomb.

Well it was my first time in a Commissary since 1980, but everything was well organized so I felt comfortable shopping.

Ask the Community - McClellan Air Force Base Commissary

Do they allow service connected disabled Veterans with a VA ID card shop at this location? I know it used to be for only active military and retirees (and their spouses) but I was informed recently (starting Jan 1, 2020) that the policy changed.

Yes they do. It is posted a n the ID counter.

    Is the Commissary still open?

    Yes it is

My husband is 100 percent disabled. Can we get I'd for the store?

Is he or was he in the Military? You need a military ID to shop there

My friend and I visited this past Sunday to do some Christmas shopping and I ended up buying at least 2 or 3 of the items I needed. This location is actually a lot cleaner and more organized than other locations which was nice! It is located off of Marconi Ave in the same shopping center as Trader Joe's and Five Below. They had a ton of wrapping paper and lots of great items for stocking stuffers and White Elephant gifts. I love finding random items that I never knew I needed! I bought around 8 items for under $60 so it was definitely a good deal! Staff were friendly and the check out line moved quickly!

Even if it is a bit of a drive from our house, we do visit every now and then. The store is quite expansive, and quite well lit. Me and my poor eyes don't have to squint to read the fine print or even make use of my glasses. There's the odd item on the floor left behind by uncaring or reckless customers...especially on busy days, so a bit of care should be exercised when walking the aisles. The place does get crowded, especially on the weekends. Parking feels a bit limited, but of course, a public lot is never under the store's control. The price is reasonable. And the staff, if on hand, are very helpful...trying to be cheerful on crowded, busy days. There's a lot to see, so be prepared to spend an hour or more during your visit. Not a bad place to spend your time...and money.

Ok usually I do these reviews on Weedmaps , however this place is worth a yelp …read more I finally stopped by The Sanctuary with my husband, and honestly, I knew I was going to like the place before I even walked through the door. As we were heading inside, I passed a girl coming out who looked so much like Billie Eilish that my brain completely short-circuited and I accidentally called her "Billie Eyelash." Thankfully, she knew exactly what I meant and laughed about it. That little interaction pretty much set the tone for the whole visit: good vibes, friendly people, and nobody taking themselves too seriously. Once inside, the experience only got better. As a first-time customer, I was able to take advantage of the new customer discount, which is always appreciated. More importantly, the staff actually took the time to help me figure out what I wanted. I wasn't looking for someone to point at the most expensive thing on the shelf and send me on my way. I had questions, I explained what I normally buy, and the budtender took the time to walk me through options that actually fit what I was looking for. Shoutout to AK, who was incredibly patient and helpful while my husband and I stood there trying to make decisions. I even managed to get what might be the most studious-looking photo ever taken of a budtender. The man looked like he was preparing a dissertation on flower selection. I ended up picking up some flower and a pre-roll, and I left feeling like I got exactly what I came for instead of settling for whatever happened to be on special that day. What stood out most to me, though, was the atmosphere. Everybody working there had their own personality. You'd see someone covered in tattoos helping a customer on one side, someone else who looked like they should be coaching a high school sports team on the other, and another person who looked like their mom's life goal was making sure they stayed focused on school. Somehow it all worked perfectly. The staff was a mix of completely different people, but everybody was welcoming, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. That's the kind of place I enjoy coming back to. It felt comfortable, not intimidating, and definitely not pretentious. The Sanctuary is also dangerously close to my house, which means they may have accidentally gained a regular customer. Great service, great atmosphere, helpful staff, and a genuinely welcoming vibe. Sometimes you walk into a business and immediately feel like you belong there. This was one of those places. And at the end of the day, it's kind of funny that a bunch of completely different people can come together over one common interest. That's exactly the energy this place has. And I hope no one took any disrespect for my version of my first introduction because I mean everything with the most sincerity and love .

(They also take all your info. Including my phone number.) It kept formatting in a way that wouldn't scan. After the 9th or 10th try it worked. I wasn't stressing off of it. The gal at the front desk was nice and trying her best. They weren't busy and ai wasn't in a rush. Yet, when I found out they don't carry the Stiiizy gummies. I was like... that sucks but oh well. I would have tried another but all of their gummies were $25.00!!! I pay like $12.00!!! I get the same amount and the same concentration. They are to help me sleep. I was going to buy $60.00 worth. Which at Stiiizy, would be like 6 bags! Which would have 10 in each baggy. Not here! It would have only been 2 packages and a total of 20 pieces. Not worth the price. My friend bought a bunch of stuff. It wasn't till we were about 15 minutes away. That I realized that I left my ID. No one on staff said anything!!! Yet, they clearly had to know. They didn't call me and let me know. By that time they were closed. It wasn't till the next day. When I called them and they checked. Thank GOD they had it! Not that it was in question but who knows. The most frustrating thing was... I called and got put on hold for 8 minutes!!! (This was the manger's line!) I don't think they were coming back on the phone. I called back and got a lady this time. She was not friendly at all and rude!!! Which is surprising since the staff there are so friendly! I guess management doesn't believe in good customer service!?!? On top of that all. When I went to pick up the ID. There was no apology! Nothing!!! Oh and they had easily 50 to a 100 IDs stuffed in this container. Like an old tin money container. Like you use at a garage sale. To hold all the money! I bet they haven't reached out to any of those customers!!! Which is really bad customer service and retention! If you are missing your ID and have gone here. They may have it!!?!? I am not ever going here again!

First, when the lid of a little box fell, one of the ladies basically ripped the item from our 7 yr old. She was perfectly behaved, and monitored, but when she picked up the box to BUY IT, the improperly taped lid fell off. We let the lady know that we were in charge of the situation. Everything was OK, but she stood around and glared at us. Our little girl was made so uncomfortable that she didn't want the box anymore. We looked around some more, and while I was in the furniture section, I overheard the two ladies behind the counter mentioning how they normally always have to watch the darker skinned people. I had to do a double take to make sure I heard them correctly. Obviously my whiteness was not a threat for them. Not only were they very rude, they were also obviously profiling both my friend, and the other colored ladies that were in the store. We immediately put down anything we were going to purchase and left the store. The only reason I did not confront the ladies right then and there is because we had a child with us. My friend, who is Latina, told me later in the parking lot that while I was looking at things with her little granddaughter, she was on the other side of the store, and that one of the staffers was following her around the whole time.
