Before making the hiring decision, I talked to a few of his clients (three), several of his workers, and later, his supplier and subcontractor. His three former clients have had no complaints with his work, the quality of the roofing, or its durability. Two have already referred McClains to their relatives, and all would hire him again. As we are on the downward curve toward retirement, we are intentionally replacing large cost items during our income earning days. We decided that we wanted to have solar added to our house and decided that during the replacement of our 25 year old roof, this was the right timing. After saving for quite some time for this project, we were fortunate to become acquainted with McClain Roofing. Our friends had (additional) solar added to their roof by Sunergy and they recommended we give Sunergy an opportunity (our friends are obviously very pleased with the outcome of the solar added to their home by Sunergy). Sunergy works with McClain roofing and McClain was suggested as a pre-solar install potential roof replacement contractor option. It is important to note that we saved for nearly two years for this project so it was important to us to get a great value in return for all of that saving. We did not want the biggest cost savings but rather the biggest bang for our buck. We feel that we received a great value by going with McClain roofing. Firstly, the communication was great! There were options and prices presented up front. The install date was agreed upon. Everyone was on time and the project was completed 1 day ahead of schedule. We had expected that we would have some wood replacement needs (termites/water damage, etc.) and this proved to be true. McClain expressed the issues found and gave an estimate that was very fair to complete the work. All in all, no surprises, an end result that is better than expected, no nickle/diming. Just good work that we are pleased with...and at a price that we feel was a great value. McClain Roofing put a new roof on my house back in 2015. The timing was right; I had the money for it and I knew it needed to be done, even though we were in drought at the time. The recent rains showed that there was a slight gap between the edge of the roof and the gutter, as I noticed a straight line eroded in the dirt down below where the water dripped. I have just completed a full re-roofing project with McClain Roofing and can not say enough good things about them. After getting 19 estimates from other companies and trying to compare cost and quailty of work, I can say McClain's is honest and to the point. He gave me an estimate and complete information on extra cost depending on what condition my roof was in underneath the existing roof. He did not sugar coat things just to get the job then hike up the price after. The bottom line was as we expected and they kept me informed during the project. My solar panel was put back in better condition than it had been attached before the re-roof. The guys were polite and cleaned up after themselves each day. Kevin came out to my home and bid the job for a new roof. He came across as very honest, sincere, down to earth, and trustworthy. McClain is a man of his word. If he say's something, it's going to happen. I haven't dealt with a contractor in a long time who was a man of his word. If you placed a call or text into Kevin he would respond back immediately. He definitely is a man who loves his job and is out for his clients which is hard to find today. He had three men on the job at all times. Andrew is an awesome young man and the other two guys he had working for him extremely, extremely very hard workers and it showed they all love their work. I was amazed to see after they left how extremely clean my yard was considering I was in the process of a roof replacement. Kevin's crew was extremely polite, considerate, kind crew. A customer could not ask for anymore out of a company today. The work ethics here was that of 40-50 years ago, something that's extremely difficult to find in today's world.
