Terrible service, awful customer service. Had my main line snaked and within a few weeks it's backed up again. Plumbers came out and spent 10 minutes onsite (seemed really fast) and drain was fine when they left. Within 3-4 weeks it ran a little slower and slower. We are now 6 weeks out and I have sewage backing up in my basement. Warranty expired at 30 days. They want to charge me to do it again. I have my drain cleared once a year and have no issues in between. These guys won't stand behind their work after 44 days. I'll pay to have it done again, I just won't pay these guys. If you want it done right, don't use McCarthy Plumbing. read more

Perfect day to have my tub drain completely stop. Having worked with McCarthy Plumbing in the past I gave them a call first thing this morning. They took my information and said they could schedule some today. Fast forward a couple hours later and I've got new drain, no standing water and the best flow this house has seen in 73 years. My family has used McCarthy for two jobs so far, and will continue to use them and refer them for all future plumbing jobs. In the office, Linda is very helpful and always gets the customer info to the workers in the field, so they can respond quickly to the customer. Needed to replace exterior hose faucet and corresponding interior shutoff due to valve leaks. Great job and done efficiently with no mess at a reasonable price. New shutoff has a drain valve so I can easily drain the line between the shutoff and the exterior faucet for winter. Scheduling was a little strange in that they couldn't offer a specific service window, but I called one day and the work was done the morning of the next day-- no issue for us as there was no emergency. Have used McCarthy before and they'll be my goto for the next issue. read more

Had a pipe burst in our kitchen ceiling. McCarthy sent a plumber to our home within 30 minutes of calling. Darryl the plumber was professional and sociable and a pleasure to have in our home. We have used McCarthy at least 5 times over the years and will continue to do so. Our hot water heater decided to quit working over the weekend, which is not fun when it is 10 degrees outside. I call McCarthy yesterday at 8:30 AM to ask them to come out to replace our water tank. Daryl showed up with the new tank at 10:00 AM (as promised) and he finished the installation in only about an hour. Daryl was extremely efficient and friendly. He left with the old tank and cleaned up the area so that no one would be able to tell that any work had been done. Needless to say, my wife and I are very happy to have hot water again and we always recommend McCarthy Plumbing to our friends and family!!! read more

Used them a few times before, with no issue. Don't know if they've had an ownership change or new management, but, the customer service I got from them this week was bad enough that I won't go back. They may still do good work, but, I didn't end up using them because of how rude they were. Business so good you don't have to be courteous to people? Good Luck! While Mc Carthy may have had a good reputation in the past for their plumbing work, their receptionist is rude and unhelpful. Twice in the past three weeks I left a message with someone regarding plumbing work I wanted to schedule; both times I was told "Linda" would call me first thing the next morning. Linda never called me. When I called her, she was curt and not at all helpful. I hope this company has enough business that they can afford to turn away and offend potential new customers. They are apparently riding on their former reputation. I will not call them again. read more

Very friendly receptionist at the office and very friendly plumber. We had a leak in our bathroom on our 2nd floor. The supply line was plastic and he replaced it with stainless steel because the plastic line had split. I was expecting an astronomical bill for some reason. It was 95.90. He charged 80/per hour for work and then 15 for the materials plus tax. Very quick work and came out same day, maybe an hour or two after I called the office. read more

We called McCarthy in December of 2015 to replace a tub faucet / diverter. Then we called again in June of 2016 to replace an outside anti-freeze spigot. Both times the work was done quickly, professionally, and at a great price. And both times the plumber that did the work was Daryl. Very friendly, very professional, and a good guy. McCarthy was like the keystone cops of plumbing for our new construction. Omitted connections on our water softener left a salty spray all over our furnace and water heater. The shower hardware was installed incorrectly and the tiling had to taken down. It still leaks. Toilets were loose and rocking. No follow up. Overall, pretty shoddy and wouldn't use them again. Wow! These guys are rock stars in my book!! Called this morning to have someone come out because a pipe between our first and second floor was leaking. We needed a shutoff valve replaced, and they were able to come out and fix it within a few days. They charge $80 per hour but were done in less than an hour. They seem to be very reliable and would definitely use them next time! read more

Terrible customer service by the owner! He charged me for travel time from "shop to service location back to the shop". My home was only 4 miles (10 min) from his shop, but he charged it at 40 min each way. When I questioned the charge for travel before the work even began he said "that's what we do. You should have known that. " I was not aware of this at all when I made the appointment. I actually had to ask the receptionist, Linda, what they charge. She never told me it included drive time. I was just told that I would be charged $90/hour of work done on the job. The work was done on my rental unit. My tenant indicated that the plumber was there about 30 min, no longer than 40 min. The plumber did not dispute this but also would not justify his charge for driving to arrive to the job site. I tried to discuss this with him but he became defensive and rude. His voice escalated and he stated "I can't please everyone". He hung up on me. Obviously does not care about customers. read more

Bought a new Kohler toilet at Home Depot. Hired McCarthy (Ron) to come and install it, thinking he would be better than Home Depot sub contractor. WRONG! Ron did a beautiful job on the exterior, but within 48 hours I realized the toilet was continually running. Called McCarthy back and Ron said it would be 90.00 to come and look at it. Thankfully, Home Depot (Allen park) was willing to stand behind their product and sent Delta Mechanical at no cost. The plumber simply adjusted a know in the tank that controlled the water flow and the problem was solved. In and out of my house less than 5 minutes. Cannot believe McCarthy wouldn't stand behind their install of a brand new Kohler toilet, even if they didn't supply it. Terrible customer service. read more
