I had a lovely stroll through McCarren Park With my boyfriend, we both admired the blooming cherry blossoms and pleasant atmosphere. That day was a bit chilly and windy. I'm glad we were able to capture some pictures of the blossoms, even though it's not peak season yet. This park has a running/walking track, playgrounds, and sports fields. I can imagine this will be a nice park to picnic in when the weather gets warmer.

When my big bro texted me asking me if I wanted to walk the track with him at McCarren Park, I was confused. My internal dialogue went something like: "Why would I want to walk in circles on a track when we could just walk through the streets of the greatest city in the world?" However, I got humbled quick. A track walk is so underrated. You really don't have to keep your head on a swivel, you can talk on the phone without the constant honks or crackheads screaming, and it's fantastic people watching. Big bro and I were walking around this track on a Saturday at 10:06am while a SERIOUS mens soccer league game was going on, having a great conversation about life, love, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The NYC skyline would pop out in the background as we rounded a certain section, just an inspiring view. I still pinch myself that I am lucky enough to live here. Something about a nice walk on a hot day gets me so much more inspired than sitting at a desk trying to lock in. I think a good sweat solves 95% of my problems. McCarren Park, while in definite need of some TLC, has such a unique charm. The track is nice af too. Greenpoint is actually goated. I don't know how I've been so sleep for so long. I don't really know how to submit a review for just the cafe in McCarren Park because it doesn't show up on here yet, but... They have an ice cream section, a coffee shop section and a food section with various sandwiches and snack items. The food is pretty decent with a couple inventive vegetarian options. It's not the most expensive thing I've eaten in New York, but it's not cheap! The fried cauliflower sandwich could have used more flavor but it was very filling. I got a seasonal latte from the blank street coffee that was good. The ambiance is stunning! Lots of back patio seating surrounded by park. It's a serene environment to come work on a laptop, hang out with friends, or read. Would recommend!

perfect for a hot day. I sun bathed before going inside for a drink. I enjoyed my time here the lines weren't long and so was the wait. Good customer service and great music.

Very nice track and athletic field. Well maintained and fully lit up at night. The track itself had a newer look and feel to it. The running club I belong to has been having monthly track meets here. Not too far a walk from subway stops.

When I used to live nearby I would come here all the time. Now a days I come here to play basketball or meet some friends for planned picnics/hangouts at nearby bars. There's always tons of people being active, playing frisbee, running on the track, baseball, doing yoga, etc. It's also a great place for people watching!! This is basically the Central Park of Williamsburg. Go out there this summer, bring some cups, food, and have some fun!

Gorgeous views...

I love taking a stroll & wandering around..so much people watching to do. Families, couples, pets, baseball games...never a dull moment!

I remember coming here as a child when I grew up in Greenpoint. Coming back here and seeing the changes of having to wear a mask is completely different atmosphere. It's actually really sad to be honest. It was good to actually walk through the park . Definitely come here and visit , it's a great park.

A big park in northern Brooklyn. It has lots of jogging and walking paths. There's several good play areas for kids. It's located by some good bars and restaurants. The bad thing is it's crowded and all the dog shit. It seems everyone wants to be here. Overall the park is safe. There are too many people though. Especially when the weather is good. They all bring their dogs and let them shit everywhere and not pick it up. A lot of things to do around here. There is a skate park along Lorimer. It's maintained in some areas. It could be better kept in others. The park is overall good for children as long as you check where they're walking.

Sometimes it's hard to feel a sense of community while living in Williamsburg these days, as it's clearly gentrifying super quickly and often filled with tourists and others from out of the area. But don't worry: locals do exist and there's no better way to be immersed in them than by taking a walk to McCarren Park on a nice day. You'll see kids' leagues playing baseball, people jogging with their dogs, parents strolling their babies, yoga groups, and people just lying on blankets and hanging out. Though it definitely gets crowded on warm days, there's always a patch of grass (or dirt/grass) to claim if you don't mind being in cozy quarters. It's a chill vibe with everyone just letting everyone else do their thing. Sure, it gets a little messy/dirty after these busy days but that's not the park's fault. Everyone should be leaving it better than they found it! You might be in trouble if you try to use the women's room on warm days as the line snakes out the tiny little building, so you might be better off wandering into Greenpoint and buying a coffee from a café then using one of theirs. It's no Central or Prospect, but this park is a lovely oasis amid the hustle and bustle of Williamsburg and I'm very grateful for it!

This is a large park in Brooklyn with every sport imaginable being played there on a Saturday afternoon. It's a little tricky to find, but just a 10 minute walk from the Bedford stop of the L. There are places to walk your dog, or just watch the dogs playing if you don't have a dog yourself. There is a bathroom, but the doors don't close, and there is no toilet paper. Also, there are softball fields. Unfortunately, the park has created an obstacle course to get to them. I feel like every week I'm on an episode of Double Dare, and taking some sort of physical challenge to go to the fields. People in the park have bent and twisted locked gates and walked on top of them. So, now they are laying down on the ground at a 45 degree angle. But, if you're daring enough to catapult over the gate, and then move on to the double locked (but bent) metal gates, with a small crevice that if you're under 150lbs you should be able to get down on the ground and squeeze through the base, capture the flag... And what do they win, Bob?? Ugh. So frustrating and dangerous. Dear McCarren Park, just unlock the gate! The fields themselves are decently maintained, but with just a little common sense this could be such a nice place to go.

Central Park may be in a more convenient location for tourists, but Prospect Park is a divine place to explore, with plenty of twists and turns, and what the heck is that? Lots to look at! The other thing I liked was that we found free on-street parking right across the street on Ocean Avenue. Amazingly we also found parking right by Central Park as well. (This trip was a superb driving one) Even hanging out in the van, having a cold one at the parking spot was a fun experience. There's even a cafe in the middle of the park that is super nice! Worth seeking out when visiting Brooklyn.

I do prefer weekday visits myself. The walking/bike paths are a great way to see the park in its entirety. It's really a wonderful way to spend a day in Brooklyn, getting away from it all.

Looked more like a museum or some nice walkway to enjoy sightseeing of the Williamsburg bridge and the lower east side views of Manhattan, which is not that spectacular in my opinion because there are too many government buildings in that section so it's all brown over on the Manhattan side. Oh wells. Other than that, I'm shocked to see nice bathrooms a block away from the park for Domino Park guests! The bathrooms were really nice and modern! Each bathroom had dimmed lighting with a baby diaper changing station. One of the bathrooms was dirty with pee on the floor so I had to go to another one. Did not expect these nice bathrooms to get dirty like that! There were more bathrooms downstairs besides the ones on the first floor. The door to the bathrooms was very nice too! What a great job they did to this park. I cannot believe the Domino sugar factory still exists or is standing because I used to take the train and they be doing construction for many years for I don't know what reason. Looked like they turn downstairs into this nice modern park. So I went to the park to go to a Target pop up and got some nice freebies. There was enough space for pop ups and large crowds. Need to check out the rest of the park next time I'm here. Too bad there is no subway or trains going to this park and you need to resort to buses that take forever to arrive.
