The baked potato was hot, fresh, and loaded well, and the sandwich was made perfectly with fresh ingredients and great flavor. It was simple food but done the right way, which is exactly what I was hoping for. The restaurant itself was clean and comfortable with a relaxed, easy going atmosphere. Even though it was a busy time, the service stayed friendly and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The food at this location was okay, but the customer service really missed the mark. We specifically asked for a baked potato with ranch on the side, but when the food came out, the ranch was already on the potato. I pointed it out right away, and the employee responded, "I told them, but they didn't listen to me," and just walked off. No effort to fix it or take ownership. I ended up taking the potato back to the counter myself and asked for it to be remade. When it was brought back out, the gentleman who delivered it didn't say a word--no apology, no acknowledgment, nothing. I placed a online order which wasn't ready when I got there. The whole point of doing so was that I wouldn't have to wait 7 minutes. There were all of 3 people inside at 5pm, none of whom were ordering. The employee did greet me, but then had to go make my order. They were out of the syrup for the $4 berry tea (which I had to remind them I'd ordered). Then I got home to open my club sandwich which had basically just been tossed into the box. I expect a lot better for a $34 meal. And when did McAliister's change their tea recipe? It used to be so good, but now tastes like the instant Lipton junk out of a bottle (lemon flavored). First time here and last time here. The staff was great, shame the food was not the same. I ordered a club and chose Mac and cheese as the side. Paid an additional $.50 for that side and took one tiny bite and spit it out. Horrible customer service. We ordered a delivery for our office. We ordered our food 9:14am. We asked for a 11:30 delivery. The delivery didn't arrive until after 12 noon which threw off our agenda by 40 minutes. When we called to inquire, we were told that we were pushed back due to a bigger order that took precedence over us. First come first serve basis is not followed at this restaurant. When the order finally arrived, some of the lunches were missing, we called and asked for them to send a driver back with the food that they failed to put in the order. We were told no they would not redeliver and that they would just issue us a refund so some of the people did not even have lunch. This is unacceptable and united sugar will not be placing any additional orders with McAllister's unless we receive an explanation and apology from Management. We always try to support our local businesses, but we cannot support this type of incompetence and lack of customer service. read more

I'm a person of habit, once I find something on the menu that I like I typically stick with it. For a while now I've been noticing McAlister's going downhill, but chalked it up to be an off-day. Today I went with my norm, the choose two- broccoli cheddar soup and French dip. I paid ~$13 for a cup of soup and maybe 3" of a sandwich with one piece of meat on it. When McAlister's was at its prime the sandwiches use to be loaded with meat. Now, it's barely visible. The massive side of au jus is a complete tease. You'll be able to dip your sandwich in the au jus possibly twice. If you're lucky! The tea is perfect, but everything else is not worth the money. My first experience with McAlister' Deli was through an introduction by a school event that had used them to cater our work lunch. It was obviously so good to the point that I wanted to try it again which I did. I ordered the Southern Chicken salad was phenomenal. I would definitely eat it again; however, McAlister's Deli lost a star due to the lack of customer service when I arrived in the store. It was clear that I was still on the clock because I had my work badge on. It was clear that I was unsure of what to do when picking up an order because I walked from end of the store to the next. There was a female wrapping cookies when I walked up to ask where do I pick up a to-go order. She mumbled something but it was clear that the ten minutes I wasted without someone acknowledging my presence could have been avoided. I could not figure out what the issue was. I would have walked out, but I was there to pick up an order for several other people, so I did not have that luxury. Although the food is good, I would take long consideration if I had to go there as an individual who wanted something to eat due to that particular experience. My advice to the manager would be to train your people to greet each and everyone as they walk in the door and make it clear to customers how and where to pick up to-go orders. read more

Went in around lunchtime during COVID. It was busy with a line since their power had gone off before we had arrived and had just come back up. They offered to get everyone in line their drinks while they waited to order. They did have a lot of their tables closed off for social distancing but some of it just didn't make since. They had more closed then open and for the amount of people ordering. If you wanted to sit down after ordering your food. I kinda felt like we were acting like vultures looking for tables to open up and trying to grab it before someone else did. Also the tables that were open were dirty and still had trash left on them from the previous guest. After circling twice we decided to pick a table that had someone trash on it and had to find someone to clean it off. Which was him just wiping the crumbs to the floor and no real wipe down... I had heard they had gluten free bread which I was excited about. Since I don't really eat bread anymore since going gluten free. I ordered their half & half lunch special. Half soup and half sandwich... the sandwich was great and super flavorful other then my bread kept falling apart. The soup was their vegan chili which was honestly sad. It was more liquid then ingredients. I maybe got a bean or two and some onions in it but that was about it. The Reuben was good but really needed more thousand island dressing. The turkey pepper Jack cheese was also good but all the meat was on one side of the roll. There were at least 6 tables that needed busing the entire time we were there, it might be time to place trash cans in the dining area if there isn't enough staff to cover it. I did not want to walk far from my hotel for dinner here in Pooler, Georgia. This McAlister's restaurant was yards away from the Courtyard by Marriott hotel, where I was staying. Seemed legit. And so, I was here debating on what to eat for dinner in the area and decided to come here to McAlister's. I may have come to this restaurant chain before but not in Georgia. I believe I've been to another McAlister's Deli, but not in Georgia. I think Mississippi in November 2019. With that said, I was sort of familiar with the brand, although I believe that their popular items are their baked potatos and their line of homemade sandwiches. While the menu was fairly limited, it was pretty good I guess. I was thankful that they were still open at 8pm on a Sunday evening in February 2023. I ended up getting a ruben sandwich and a baked potato (maxed), along with a large diet coke. My experience here at McAlister's Deli took about 20 minutes from entering and exiting the restaurant. I wanted to do take out and they have this cute little waiting area with seating to wait for the order. The service here was fast for being kind of empty on a Sunday evening just outside Savannah. The restaurant itself was clean and organized. Quite nice and the ambiance was pretty quiet too. Not sure if they have Wifi for customers. The overall experience here at this McAlister's Deli in Pooler, Georgia was quintessentially pretty good. There was only 1 person manning the register and while I was waiting for my order, this guy had a particular order and it was interesting how the customer and restaurant staff interacted. I was glad I didn't have to wait behind him. For the most part though, I probably should have dined in to get in the ambiance more, but I just wanted to dine in in my hotel room. The ruben was pretty good, but I enjoyed the max baked potato even better. Probably should have ordered extra baked potatoes, but that's for another review at a later time. I thought that McAlister's Deli was a cool little option for those who want something different than your Taco Bells and the McDonald's of the fast food world. It can be healthier in a sense, depending on what you order. During my experience here, I didn't notice if there was any air conditioning, since probably it was in the 40's F at night at the time. While the menu is limited to just mainly sandwiches and potatoes, don't forget to ask for a pickle, since I probably did. And so, if you are in the area and fancy coming to this place, it's a neat place to indulge. This McAlister's Deli is located in Pooler, GA near the Courtyard by Marriott hotel. The physical address is 405 Pooler Pkwy. Like many restaurants in the industry, they accept major credit cards, as well as cash. Cash is good. As far as parking goes, they are situated next to a semi large commercial center, so along with the hotel parking nearby, you can have plenty of parking at your fingertips. I'm not sure about public transportation in Pooler or Savannah, if you use them. Best bet would be to double check and confirm with the local transportation authority for your options. Rental car is ideal, although Uber and Lyft would be cheaper. The experience ended up being uneventful and enjoyed my last night in GA before heading home while grabbing dinner here. While the food was delicious, I felt like the overall experience here was decidedly just okay. The prices were a little overpriced for what they had offered, but it was good enough. 3.5 stars for the overall experience. 4.0 stars for the food and ambiance. 4.0 stars for the friendly service. 2.5 stars for the prices. Fairly disappointing experience and do not expect to return. Went there for lunch and only 3 tables occupied. We're warned of a 30 minute wait when we walked in which was nice but decided to order and wait. And we did wait for a half hour but it was expected. Chili - not very good and barely warm. Just not much flavor. Also does not care not contain beans which i know many like. Ham and cheese melt - not bad but if you think this is grilled forget it. Ordered a catering lunch for work and it went horribly wrong. For starters the driver was 45 minutes late. Every time we called the store; they said the driver was in traffic. We pulled up google maps and it was literally NO traffic at all. We he finally arrived he smelled like a pack of walking cigarettes. Why would you smoke in the car KNOWING you are delivering food?! The bread on one of the king chicken clubs wasn't toasted and to add injury to insult they put the end piece of the bread in the middle of the sandwich! I've NEVER had a restaurant give me the end piece of any bread. My coworkers' macaroni and cheese was ice cold. The store didn't attempt to heat it up. We called the day before and requested pickles which we did NOT get. The last straw was my other coworker has a long piece of hair in his sandwich. He literally got down to the last two bites and pulled the hair out of his mouth. We spent way too much money to receive this terrible service. Ordered curbside through the website for a Sunday lunch. I selected the toppings for my baked potato, ordered a chicken soup and side of cucumbers and tomatoes. Maybe I'm just hungry but the soup was flavorful and hearty. The chicken was shredded inside and the broth has a lot of herbs and vegetables. I loved everything, it hit the spot. A person in our party had an allergy to onion and the cashier was kind enough to walk back to make sure the kitchen was aware. She rang us up and got our beverages. After we had been waiting, someone came up from the kitchen to tell the cashier that potatoes would be another 45 minutes. The cashier told her we had ordered spuds. We were asked if we wanted to order something else. We could not because of food allergies and we were not able to wait another 45 minutes. The person from the kitchen came back up and refunded the potatoes but would not refund the salad or the beverages that we had not yet consumed. The salad was not ready, we had to wait for that. Very disappointing experience. The communication and customer service were very poor. I think they should have either voided or credited the transaction and let is go get a meal. read more

It looks like McAlister's has fallen on hard times. My horseradish roast beef sandwich was good enough. The meat, however, did not fill the bread which was on the stale side. The "homemade" cookie is commercially packaged and filled with preservatives. Finally, the spud chips which seemed like would be homemade are vending machine potato chips.
