Yelp isn't letting me just add a tip so here is my tip review. Ordered to-go French dip sandwiches and all 3 orders was missing the au jus. Disappointing esp since we live 30 min away. I got the BLT with avocado and only one half of my pre-cut sandwich had avocado. I also got the tortilla soup and it was great! If you can't do a little spicy, move along. I've been coming with my family to this location for just over three years now and have to say the consistency of service and food has been the best. It's also part of the experience when we go dine out and every time I've come with family or on my own I've always seen a friendly face who takes the time to greet, chat and just be a little extra thoughtful. I've taken the time to notice that the general manager works tirelessly to check on patrons, introducing himself and ensure orders are enjoyed. He has also hired some of the most out going and kindest staff, I truly enjoy their smiles and feel welcome when I visit for my next order. It's one thing to go out for a meal but it's experiencing good food with a pleasant environment. I believe that making this an extra stop for a fresh ice tea with their tea pass or a healthier option for lunch is worth it. If I could suggest one improvement , while it is big, I'd love to see this location get a more updated facelift though, the seating, walls, floors and bathrooms are functionally obsolescent. This McAlisters is in a great location and has a lot of business, it would be so nice to see it updated with more of a cafe and deli feel to it. read more

Placed an order to go through app. Chicken club with side of potato salad and 1/2 tea. Plus a pick two. Total $30. Picked up as they were just getting ready to bag up. Drove to nieces house 17 miles. So excited to eat ( I have never eaten here before) open tied to go bag and no potato salad. On the pick two I choose the Ruben and grilled chicken on croissant. The Ruben was good but the grilled chicken was pulled chicken and very dry. How do you screw up bagging two items. read more

Great place to grab a quick healthy bite! Ive driven past for several yrs and to day decided to try them. Prices were fair for the amt of food that you receive. I called my order in, customer service was professional and quick. All my food was presented well, and was packed with flavor. The tortilla soup was creamy and kinda spicy, but I enjoyed it! The food and processes at this location has greatly improved over the last two times we've placed to-go orders. During Covid and for the year after, it was horrid but I am happy to report that as of September 2022 things are turning around. The food was consistent on both of our recent orders. The rotelle dip hasn't returned to the old yummy tasty recipe but I'm hopeful still that it will. read more

I have been coming to McAlisters since it opened but the service has continued to decline. Tonight did it for me. I called in an order for 2 potatoes and was told that it would be read in 20 minutes. I got there in 25 minutes and was told that it would be 15 to 20 more minutes so I waited. 30 minutes later they said that I could have a free dessert because of the wait and my order was ready. Upon checking my order they had only fixed 1 potato, I asked for my other potato and they said that it would take another 20 minutes! That's when I paid for the potato and left! They need to get someone in there that knows how to run the business! read more

Normally its very good, tonight just was a bad night for them. Ordered chef salad no tomatoes and there was some in my salad. Broccoli and cheddar soup tasted like color water. No flavor just water. McAlister's is great when you eat inside but the minute you order a TO GO you better check everything before you get home because you will be disappointed! I've made the mistake the past two times not checking before I leave after verifying verbally of something extra but tonight will be the third time I've placed a to go order and asked for extra butter and sour cream for two baked potatoes which when I came in the girl said that she wasn't the one that prepared the bag and on the receipt it says extra so when I go to open the box I didn't get not one butter or sour cream and they didn't give me my daughters barbecue chips and I had to asked for a lemon with my sweet tea which I told the girl on the phone which is on the receipt l! it's like they don't even care anymore.....And you literally have to babysit your order and make sure you get what you paid for I would normally write five stars but due to customer service I will give them a 2.... read more

McAlister's has been around for awhile and one of the traditional' 'go to' places in Lexington. There is a large adjacent parking lot that services the commercial strip mall of which McAllisters is a part which is convenient but doesn't mean you'll always park close. Like most places McAlisters seems to suffer from lack of help and when we visited many tables were not cleaned and the restrooms needed attention. Those who were working were extremely pleasant and trying hard to please the many guests. Was nice to see the shift supervisor working many positions and greeting customers on arrival and apologizing for the wait when served. Truly a dedicated employee. Wait time to order was about 5 minutes and food arrived in around 10 minutes. To sum up, it was worth the wait. The French Dip was stuffed with meat and cheese and the sides were delicious. The au jus was flat, cold and unseasoned and essentially water with a bit of bouillon. However , a replacement was happily provided and the staff interested in our observations. The Southwest chicken salad was also delicious despite a tired avocado ingredient and red onions cut in too large chunks. The Italian sub was huge and packed with meat and cheese and worth the 15.00 price. McAlisters tea is legend and refills were cheerfully accommodated. Desserts are always great at McAlisters and the cookies and pie were terrific as usual. This is family friendly dining and an overall pleasant experience. We'll be back. read more

i ordered the 2 for 2 and it was great . chicken ceasar salad and chicken and dumplings soup . really good and it was hot too . A rare thing in restaraunts these days .The salad was excellent and flavorful . The hubs ordered a sandwich with au jus and it was good too . My husband and I used to be a very big fan of this McAlister's location. I'm not sure if management has changed over the past few months but the staff has. The restaurant appears to be run by children and while I don't necessary have a problem with that; this bunch acts their age. While placing our order (on multiple occasions) the customer service is lacking. No "thank yous" or even a smile. On this particular occasion I ordered a french dip sandwich with a side of potato salad and my husband ordered a chose two with a southwest turkey sandwich and a side savannah chop salad. We waited over 30 minutes for our food and when I got my french dip it was cold. The inside of the restaurant was dirty and I had to wipe down our table because it had food and crumbs left over from the customers who sat their before us. It's more disappointing to me to see the state of the restaurant because we used to not only get great food but also great service here. McAlister's is your typical deli style restaurant. You walk in and place your order at the counter. Orders are made to order. I had dinner here and there was no wait to place order, but probably had to wait 5-10 minutes for my dish to come out. Probably not a good place to go if you have a big party, as tables usually seat 4-6 people. They do have some outdoor seating (undercover) and fans as well for the summer months. I have to agree with the other two reviews regarding price. I paid just over $7.00 for a grilled chicken sandwich and could have done better at either a Subway or another sub shop for what I got. At least at this location, kids eat free on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. read more

Pricey for what you get. This was my first (and last) time eating here. Their "famous" tea tasted as though it had gone sour. I waited around for a new batch - same thing. I switched to lemonade and that had no sugar in it whatsoever. The orange cranberry club sandwich I had wasn't any better: the meat tasted slightly spoiled and the lettuce was wilted. Oh, and the AC didn't work...in the middle of June. On the plus side, the service is fantastic and it's a nice deli-style ambiance. This is probably my favorite place in town to grab a quick bite that I know will be tasty. Prices are pretty reasonable for the amount you get and the quality is superb. My only issue is the amount of salad dressing with their salads; I often have to go get another small container to have enough to finish the meal. They have the BEST tea and you can get an amazong cookie for a free dessert if you complete the survey on the receipt. So let's start with the fiasco of the day: I ordered a southwest salad extra dressing. Get home no chips and one little sad cup of balsamic salad dressing. Personally a southwest salad and balsamic are not a combo I can stomach. Call back, manager offers no type of solution, so my husband drives back to get chips and edible salad dressing. Last week ordered online and because they were out of sun chips, they didn't make anything. When we got home with that order they didn't have sour cream for my husbands potato, even though he asked when he was checking out. The time before that, I ordered via phone which apparently is a call center and they sent my order to Lexington Kentucky so it took about 30 minutes to have made. This place is just gross. The food was edible but cold. Haven't figured out why every table we sat down at was sticky and slick. The crew that was running the place seems kinda of young so I'm guessing that has something to do with the lack of professionalism behind the counter. The food we did get was wrong and they forgot a portion of my food when it finally came out right.
