We came in after about a five-hour float down Beaver Creek, grabbed some drinks, hung out at the bar and demolished an AK-47 French Dip and a Thai Stick. After five hours on the water, it absolutely hit the spot. The bartender was fun, easy to talk to, and added to what we already like about this place -- it just has that laid-back, fun vibe. Good food, good drinks and good conversation. Prices are pretty typical, but if you get there after 8, happy hour kicks in and the bar gets downright cheap. Definitely worth knowing. The AK-47 was hot, cheesy and perfect with the au jus, and the Thai Stick was a great mix of chicken, pineapple, pickles and everything else packed into it. Both sandwiches were loaded and exactly what we needed after being out on the river all day. Cheba Hut has become one of those places we know we can walk into, grab a seat at the bar, relax, eat well and have a good time. Go. We'll be back again and again.

This will be a regular stop on our drive to Chicago. Happy to report that the drive thru lane moved pretty quickly and by the time we left 30 min later, that had cleared. As far as food goes, we tried the original with fries and the Nashville hot (as a wrap) with brussels sprouts. We both thought our meals were fantastic. I would put their brussels sprouts up against anyone's! The fries were also battered lightly and resulted in a crunchy fry with a nice light flavor. I like that they have a variety of seating inside and it never felt like you needed to vacate your space quickly. In fact, I noticed some shelving with board games, so they definitely welcome groups who want to enjoy good food and hang out. There is a large picnic table for groups or communal seating and some individual stools near the ordering counter for singles or anyone who just wants to sit and watch the world outside those windows. This was a great find for us!!

The monthly flavored shakes are also a nice treat. And where can one get some of the best Brussels sprouts at a chicken place? They are delish! You can get your sandwiches grilled, fried, in a wrap or in a salad. For me, all great options but the original fried is my go to- large, always perfectly cooked and juicy chicken. The service is as fantastic as the food- always friendly. And- dogs allowed! Outdoor patio seating in addition to indoor and (let me repeat what exceptional service) they find you even when you change your mind and start one place and end in the other. Drive through is a nice option and the only (good) problem for this business that started out as a food truck is that at peak times parking and pulling out can be tricky with the drive through. I've saved one of the best customer- friendly mentions for last- when you pay by card, the highest display for tip is 10%(starting at 3%). I mean- the service is always worth 20+ but I appreciate this range as opposed to so many that start at 15% or higher. Come for the always fresh, awesome food and tip for the excellent and friendly service! Locations growing around the metro- yeah!

I had asked her twice if they could turn the music down, which she did ask the guy behind the bar, I don't know if he was a bartender or a cook, but I heard him say what do they want, I've turned it down four times. Well, yes, I did overhear that I was sitting very clause to the bar. It was very rude of him, and I had been very kind and requested that the music be turned down some. The food was pretty good, I had the fig and creamy goat cheese flatbread. Overall, it might be a very good place for other people, rudeness is not acceptable.

While a bit of a hidden gem off of 86th Street, the building is modern, chic and inviting - with a large covered patio area connected to the north side of the building. The one negative is that the temperature is kept very cold inside, so consider bringing a sweater or light jacket to stay comfortable. Unfortunately, tonight was a bit cold outside, so it was a coinflip on which was better - we opted for the patio seating and the wind settled down during our visit to get quite comfortable. We started with a Cuban Martini and Sojito (see picture) along with an order of Bang Bang Shrimp (see picture) for an appetizer. We enjoyed the drinks and the Bang Bang Shrimp with the drizzled Yum Yum-type sauce was delicious! For our main courses, my wife ordered the Thai Pasta (see picture) and I opted for the Fig, Avocado and Goat Cheese Salad (see picture). As is our custom, we both shared bites from each of our plates and liked both of them very much - although the Thai Pasta definitely had a bit more 'kick'. We ordered the Tres Leches for dessert (remembering it from our last visit), but unfortunately found that they were sold out, so had to leave without dessert. If you are looking for a modern, unique, Asian fusion type restaurant in the Johnston area, Roots 95 won't disappoint. Pepp's is located in a strip mall just off of interstate 80 and 86th on the northwest side of Des Moines in Urbandale. Surrounded by some other hotspots including Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt and Friedrichs Coffee so you really could make this an all day stop! (haha). The shop is small and only has seating for about 25 people (max) The open kitchen and walkup ordering works so you can see and hear everything going on. Decorations are eclectic and fun without being obnoxious. The place is clean and well lit. Menus are displayed in multiple locations and easy to read. Order Pizza by the slice or the whole thing along with sandwiches and extras. Grab a cup and a number, get your drink (no alcohol) and sit down. The lady at the counter was patient and kind while we deliberated our choices. Once we decided and ordered our Meatzilla Pizza ($21.50) we only waited about 10 minutes before it was delivered with a smile. First impressions - it is a well made pizza with ample toppings, the crust is thin, chewy and crispy and perfect! We really enjoyed the combination of canadian bacon, sausage and pepperoni with the little bits of ham. I had a little buyers remorse that we only ordered one pizza so I ordered a slice of the 'Pepp's Pie' to go. It was also delicious with the pepperoncini adding that nice tangy spice to the already tasty slice! While we were eating we witnessed one of the chefs come out and check with every table to make sure we were all happy - this was a very nice touch. In addition the manager came out at the request of our neighboring table to discuss catering options with them. Very good customer service all around! We are looking forward to coming back to try another option! Great Job Pepp!

Low points: The toppings on the pizzas with lots of bulk (large amount of toppings) were mostly in the middle of the pie...or had fallen in...but it made picking up the pieces quite messy as they'd fall off. Was also confused because they advertised an upside down pizza, but all of the pizzas we got were "normal" with the sauce on the bottom and the cheese on top and then the toppings on top of that. (Shrug) Our group tried a wide variety of pizzas, but the favorite was the white pizza with the hot honey on it. It really was tasty. Sometimes white pizzas don't have enough cheese or sauce on them and end up being kind of plain, but this one was tops!

We placed our order through the app as of 5:16pm. It said it would be ready by 5:30pm. I know it takes longer to make gluten free sandwiches because they have to clean the grill so I did not arrive until 5:45pm to pick up my food. When I got there hardly any customers were in the store. 2 people were in line to order and 2 people were standing waiting for doordash. I ended up waiting a few moments before asking if my order was ready around 5:50pm. They checked and found it had not even been started yet and that it was quite a few tickets behind the others for the grill. I was told it would be about 10 minutes by the kid who was working the register. The kid then went to check if he had told me correct by the guy on the grill. The guy went to check my ticket and started laughing saying, "yeah good luck with that. It's got gluten free. Its gonna be awhile." He then proceeded to make 8 sandwiches and none of them were mine. I had doordash drivers and other online pickup customers come in after me who received there food before me. I watched the guy on the grill move tickets that were behind mine forward. Someone obviously made a conscious decision not to fill my order in a timely manner because of the gluten free sandwiches. At 6:05pm I watched the guy on the grill finally start cleaning the grill. By 6:10pm he started making 2 gluten free sandwiches. And did not pay attention to the fact that #65 was not supposed to have jalepenos and yet seem to have a ton of them on the sandwich. By 6:21pm all sandwiches were done. The manager (Jasmine) tried to hand a cookie off to me and another customer who had been waiting almost as long as me. But considering I cannot eat it nor does that make up for waiting nearly an hour from the time my food was supposed to be ready I did not want it. The manager seemed to have a chip on her shoulder and kept throwing hateful looks towards my mother and me after we would not accept her offer. She then went back behind the counter pulled out her phone, messed with it for a bit then pulled some vouchers out. She offered us 2 of them for our 3 sandwiches. My mother would have accepted it as is if there would have been an apology attached with it. There was not. She thought it was more reasonable to have 3 vouchers since our order was for 3 sandwiches and the manager disagreed. All sandwiches were put in the same bag. I specifically put special instructions on my order for the gluten free sandwiches to be put in a seperate bag. I have never had any trouble with this at any other store. The manager said, "We don't do that." I explained that I have asked at other stores and had no problem. I was then told by the manager "Well you don't have to come here. You can go to another store. And you can leave." I feel like this was a personal attack and discriminatory against me due to my food allergies and I do not appreciate it. I was not asking for anything special just for the considerations that I know are in place by this company. Jersey Mike's as a company has practices in place to accommodate customers with food allergies but this employee seems to have decided to not provide your typical great service because of it.

This place is right on the corner, well maintained and has good signage. It lacks on curb appeal, but we came for the food, drinks and atmosphere. Upon entering we were greeted by big crowds and a very busy place. We lucked out and were able to sit right down (at the bar of course). The place is dated, and slightly divey but it has a lot of seating and the staff all seemed to be busy making it happen! There is a lot of table seating both high top and standard table and chairs. In addition to about 20 seats at the bar. Plenty of televisions with all types of content playing. Although it was busy we soon had 2 bartenders offering us drinks and menus. Shortly after we were drinking our beers and ordered some hamburgers. Kim opted for the regular hamburger with cheese and a side of fries. I ordered the jalapeño blue cheese burger. It was loaded with plenty of blue cheese crumbles and the jalapeños were a nice touch. I will say they were both solid choices. They make it clear that the $12-15 sandwiches do not come with sides unless you order the baskets. So sides are all in addition to the prices on the burgers. So it makes it a bit more expensive and for me $20 for a burger and fries is on the high side for anywhere in or around the metro. The service was good and as the crowd began to die down we ordered a second round. Though I feel the prices for stand alone sandwiches are high, at least the ones we had and the ones we saw delivered to other tables were pretty generous in size and the ingredients seemed fresh. All in all a pretty decent experience. If you are looking for a well made sandwich, in Grimes this seems like a good place to find it.
