California Club Regular w/red onions
Sairuh M.

We were pleasantly surprised after walking in here. It's a lot bigger inside than we expected and it's kept very clean. It's a bit loud, but not in a bad way. The staff were very nice while providing quick, efficient service. Our sandwiches were absolutely amazing!!!!!!! I love how fresh everything is and they don't skimp out on the amount either. Can't wait to try more!!!

Excellent lunch spot! Lots of salad options, and great sandwiches and soups. Really clean environment with plethora of options!

Super quick. So many options and combinations. Delicious food. Tons of seating. Huge salad bar that I will have to try next time. Best part, there is a soft serve ice cream machine for you to indulge in. Vanilla. Chocolate. Or swirl. On a cone, in a bowl, add some hot fudge, or so what my husband does and makes a root beer float. Definitely going back!

This was my second time at this location and both experiences were good. It is a very busy place at lunchtime, but the line moves fast and there is a lot of seating. I got the California club croissant sandwich which had a lot of meat & veggies which I enjoyed. My dad got a muffaleta and said it was good. Our server had an AirPod in and kept asking us to repeat our order... otherwise pretty good!

I met a friend for lunch and while Jason's is one of her favorites, I just thought it was ok. This location totally lacks any ambiance. I felt like I was back in a high school cafeteria. The food fed me but it was not anything to savor. I will go again, if asked, but won't suggest this deli as my first choice.

So good!

Jason's Deli has had my hands down favorite salad bar in Des Moines for over a decade. It's barely changed during that time, and for good reason: Don't mess with success! The variety of leaves (baby lettuce, baby spinach, or romaine) and toppings are stupendous. You have hardboiled eggs, baby carrots, big red onion rings (my personal favorite topping), roasted red peppers, and just about anything you can think of, honestly. All of the dressings are homemade. My favorite is the Italian. It's so good I could drink it. It's just delectable. Most of the ingredients are also organic. Want to indulge a little? Throw on some tasty muffins. Cottage cheese? Croutons? There are several kinds, made fresh. You're covered. You even have the option of a bowl or cone of ice cream, if the salad is just too healthy for you. I always love having one after I eat my salad. Always have. Jason's Deli's salad bar has never disappointed me. It's always delicious and fresh. It's absolutely a steal at under $10, as well, especially in this economy! If you're a salad lover, do yourself a favor and go to Jason's Deli. In over ten years I have never had a salad bar even come close. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Amazing food, friendly service, and a spacious, quiet atmosphere. I love that there are healthier options for food, and there's the added bonus of free ice cream. I need to come here more often!

Chicken Pasta Primo

"Grilled, 100% antibiotic-free chicken breast, penne pasta, tomato-basil sauce, Asiago, herb focaccia" The chicken was perfectly grilled, the sauce had a lot of flavor, and the pasta was al dente. I only wish there was more sauce to coat all the noodles.

The 'NY Yankee' sandwich. Mmmmm!

I came across a Jason's Deli while in Cincy earlier this year ... and again today in Des Moines. The menu has something for everyone, and the food is prepared quickly and is always delish! It's a 'can't miss' place ... and the free soft-serve ice cream is a happy bonus! I have a soft spot for the NY Yankee specialty sandwich. Highly recommended.

I had a simple order today for lunch. Take out. When I got back to work it was totally wrong. Ruined lunch - not edible. Go somewhere else.

A nice selection of food. A super variety on the salad bar including yummy ginger bread muffins. Good meals at a very fair price.

The Bobbie Hot? A masterpiece of messy indulgence -- a sandwich that didn't apologize for itself. Now it's a ghost. The dining room is empty. Just me, the hum of the fridge, and a sense that nobody cares. The staff move like they're sleepwalking. Slow, disinterested, on their phones. I watch a guy come out of the bathroom, head straight for the kitchen, ladle soup without washing his hands, then grab his phone. You don't even need to see the rest -- this tells you everything. The doors stick. The soda fountain's tacky with syrup and neglect. The bathrooms smell like a truck stop. The tables? Sticky. Everything is sticky. This isn't just a sandwich shop -- it's a cautionary tale. Thirty-five minutes later, my sandwich finally lands in front of me. Nobody said a word, nobody looked at me, nobody cared. The cook mumbles an apology. The girl on her phone shrugs. The sandwich is good. Really good. Hot, loaded, indulgent -- proof the heart of the place is still beating somewhere under the mess. But twenty bucks and thirty-five minutes for a single sandwich? That's not patience. That's endurance. Capriotti's used to have soul. Now it's just going through the motions. You want to root for them. You want to believe they can come back. But nostalgia isn't enough to save a sticky floor, disinterested staff, and a dining room that feels like a ghost town. Do better, Capriotti's. You were great once. You could be again.

We were just here a few weeks ago and I am so bummed to see they permanently closed!! We came during lunch and took advantage of their weekday lunch combo (Tues-Fri, 11am-2pm), which includes soup and a half grilled cheese. You can choose from the OG, Kick in the Cheese, or Fancy grilled cheese, plus either tomato basil bisque or the soup of the day. Honestly? A dream setup. I ordered the tomato basil bisque with a half OG grilled cheese, and wow... just wow. The soup was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced, and the grilled cheese delivered that classic, beautiful cheese pull moment you hope for (and rarely actually get). The cheese had the perfect amount of sharpness and subtle bitterness, balancing everything out so well without being overwhelming.. I seriously could go for one right now! Every bite was comforting and delicious, and I immediately wished I had ordered a full OG sandwich because it was that good. The combo was mouth‑watering, satisfying, and wildly exceeded expectations for a quick lunch stop.

We ordered Grilled Cheese of the Month Quesabirria and it was fantastic I would say it just needed more Consomé. We also ordered their Cuban sandwich and it was really good! This place is a classic hole in the wall but it was very clean!

This was through no fault on the store's part. Today I ordered Potbelly through Foodsby. I ordered the "A Wreck" and loaded it up. The basics are salami, Angus roast beef, oven roasted turkey, hickory smoked ham with melted Swiss cheese. I made it big, doubled the meat, and added mayo, mustard, hot peppers, lettuce, onion, tomato, and Italian seasoning. I can only assume my sandwich originated at the Jordan Creek location (6305 Mills Civic Parkway, West Des Moines, IA 50266). Because I used a delivery service I can't speak on any experience in-store. The sandwich... Might as well just call it like I see it. It was a mess. Once again this is through no fault of the store. It's just what happens when you load something up with a bunch of crap and then get it delivered...or to go. This didn't impact the taste at all though. I just grabbed some extra paper towels from the break area and waded in. The bread was fresh and the sandwich was still warm from being toasted. I like the chewiness of the bread. It's not prone to getting too soggy or falling apart. The meat had really good flavor and I probably didn't need to double it up...but that's never a bad call. It's like saying there's too much bacon... Really? smh You can never have too much meat. Would I recommend Potbelly? Yes. I'm glad I gave Potbelly another chance. Yes...they're a franchise. Eat local...yada, yada, yada. That being said... The sandwich was really good...probably one of the better "warmed" subs I've had recently. And when ordered properly it's pretty filling too.
