Great weekend-morning brunch spot!!! Bottomless mimosas and a lot of TVs on the wall to watch whatever and chilax. The food and drinks were pretty decent, normal tavern food but the appeal was the big open space with high top tables, and a lot of people talking, laughing, and having a good time. read more

I ordered DoorDash pick up and thought I was ordering from Tuddy's Tavern but when I arrived - they did let me know DoorDash had the addresses mixed up and it was actually at Bevy's which is the same owner. It was 10 minutes apart so not bad. I ordered the tenderloin sandwich because when in Iowa right? I also got an order of cheese curds. The tenderloin sandwich was tasty! It had mayo and some other seasonings, pickles, which made it good. Otherwise, it may have been too plain. Cheese curds came with marina and ranch. Not too greasy which was good. Hit the spot! read more

Located on 50th and I-235 Bevy's is a bar/restaurant as is typical. The negatives: Music way too loud. Positives: plenty of TV's to keep you entertained. Food prices are slightly on the high side so don't expect to get out of there for less than $25 or 30 with no alcohol. I got the French dip which was fine while my companion got the black and blue which she said was overcooked. Her Cole slaw side had excess vinegar. Ambiance was too noisy but the service was friendly. read more

We stopped in about 9pm for a late dinner. I had the fish and chips. It was delicious! Light breading, served piping hot, and with a flavorful tarter. The French fries were crisp and appeared to be homemade. My partner had a steak and mashed potatoes and said it was great. Our server was so helpful and recommended a great local lager. Atmosphere was relaxed with soft music and dimmed lights. read more

4.25* (out of 5) Food: 4* Atmosphere: 4* Value: 4* Service: 5* 11/09/2023 Wanted to give this place a try after seeing an ad following their opening in the old Grumpy Goat location. We had our opportunity when we invited our son and daughter-in-law to join us for dinner - and enjoyed our experience. An above average pub experience with reasonable value and great service. A special call-out to our server Kathryn (Katie), who was fantastic! She had opinions on everything we asked about the menu, with solid details to share about each of them. One of her best suggestions was to upgrade to the Parmesan Fries - you will see them in each of the pictures and while they were a significant additional cost, they were delicious! If you are lucky enough to get her on your visit - be sure to say Hi to her from The Food and Drink Guy! For our meals, I ordered the Fish & Chips (see picture), my wife ordered the Classic Cheeseburger (see picture) and my son ordered the French Dip (see picture). We found all of them to be very good - definitely above average for pub food...topped by the Parmesan Fries! Possibly my favorite part of the stop though came after our meal and was a bit unexpected. If you follow my posts, you know how much I love good desserts. Tonight, I chose to take my dessert in liquid form and ordered a Chocolate Martini (see picture). Not only was it one of the better martinis I've consumed, the pricing put it in the upper echelon of value for martinis in the area. You will definitely want to give one of the martinis a try when you stop for a visit. If you found this review helpful, please show your appreciation with a Like or a Follow. I'll start with a positive: our server was great! She was friendly, quick, and kept checking in with us. Now for the rest of the review. This place is undoubtedly one of the worst places I've been to in quite some time. First, the beer selection was really unimpressive. Des Moines has a great local beer scene and this place only offers the typical mass produced beers like at chain restaurants. Even the Bevy named beer is actually made by a major national brewer. Disappointed that a local tavern didn't have local brews. Next problem is ambiance. I get this is a tavern, but the place is LOUD. The music was really loud and it didn't matter whether it was the live singer, the DJ, or the canned music. It was so loud that people were yelling to hear each other over the music and each other. We basically yelled our order to the server. My son ended up spending a good part of the meal with his hands over his ears - and this kid goes to rock concerts with me. If the noise wasn't bad enough, the food was AWFUL. The cheese curds tasted like fish. My French dip sandwich was nothing more than slices of deli meat put on a bun with some cheese, a sprinkling of greens, and a very small amount of horseradish. The bread was burnt, the meat was so dried out it was chewy, and the au jus was super salty (and I like salty food). I usually eat darn near anything, but I only ate half of this sandwich (the onion rings were decent so I ate those). My wife ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and the cheese wasn't melted. Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese was a bowl of mac & cheese with a basic chicken tender cut up on it dunked in a little sauce. The fish and chips were the only entree that was decent. That said, this food was lousy even as far as pub food goes. In short, this place is waaaay overpriced for the quality what we got. For the 4 of us it was just shy of $100 and we only drank ice water. read more

Worst experience ever. I came in to have a drink and food. Bartender/server came over ONCE! To take my drink order. Never came back and it's been an hour. I am beyond pissed off. Will never ever come back! This place and service sucks d*ck! And it smells like sewage . And I go up after an hour to get another drink while she is EATING she says to me, I was just about to go check on you and I'm like sure you were. I am beyond furious at this place and the service here and then they have another waitress who was just standing around by the bar doing nothing who hires these people and who is the owner of this dump? read more

I stopped for lunch at Bevy's. I have not been here previously. I asked the server what they were known for. She said the Tenderloin sandwich. I am a sucker for a good BPT sandwich. She was a great server. Courteous and punctual. I received the sandwich. It looked good. Great color. I took a bite and the breading just slid off the meat. It happens. It is usually in preparation. They may have not dredged in flour before the wet ingredients and the final dry and then in to the fridge for 30 minutes. Pretty good flavor and they cut and make their own. Which I love. Need to figure out breading process read more

Spent the afternoon there with a group of friends. We really enjoyed the evirronment, food, and service. Plenty of TV's, and comfortable seats. I got the Grilled Chicken Sandwich - delicious! Not at all your typical fare; the aioli added a great flavor. My wife got the chicken tenders - technically an appetizer, but a generous serving that was more than enough for her as a meal. The Chicky Sauce is a nice, zingy accompinament. The other entree part of our group got was the tenderloin. They said it was very good - more typical, but delicious. Our servers were very attentive and pleasant, and checked in on us regularly. Beer pricing was a bit on the higher end of normal, and I had mixed drinks that were reasonably priced. My drinks did have orange juice, which was inconsistent from drink to drink. It was pulpy, but some drinks were almost clear, and some deep orange; may just need to shake the container better. Will definitely go back for more great food. read more

Place is located in a strip mall. Nice vibes, ample TVs everywhere and is kinda outdoors even though your inside. Service was great, waitress offered suggestions and help me pick out the perfect margarita. Cant remember what it was called but I think I had 2....or 3.... anywho, burger was bomb, loved the fries, also took some chicken wangs togo. They heated up perfectly. Oh and their ranch is on point. FYI, their happy hour includes by one appetizer get one free, what a treat! read more

I have been wanting to try this place since it opened. Unfortunately, the food was pretty disappointing. On the other hand, our server was awesome. She was very attentive and checked on us throughout the meal. I met a friend on a Wed, it was pretty empty... Maybe because it was Valentine's Day? When I walked in, I was greeted right away and told to sit wherever I wanted. My friend order the cheeseburger and fries. The crinkle cut fries were cooked to perfection. Her burger.....well...before she started she wiped a giant circle of grease off the top of the bun. She said the burger was super greasy on the outside of the patty but dry in the center. I ordered a French dip with the side salad. The side was a great size, especially with no upcharge for a side salad. The French dip was disappointing. The meat was very dry. When we went to pay, the receipts show the salad on mine and the fries on my friends were a charge. Then the recipets showed a "good guest" amount that cover the charge. Just seemed very odd read more

Randomly picked Bevy's and it did not disappoint. Service was fast and professional. They changed the sport on the tv near us to fit our request. Great atmosphere and laid back environment. The French fries and food was amazing. Hot and served quickly. Tasted almost home made. We will be back. read more

3.7 Nice place with a good bar and quality ingredients. However the weird French fries and way overcooked burger along with constant drown of country music brings it down significantly. read more

Food was amazing and came quick. I got the grilled chicken sandwich and I was impressed. Ranch was amazing too.

Had an unfortunate situation occur recently and I'm hopeful it was a misunderstanding on paying a bill with part cash and part credit card. I'd like to give the server some benefit of doubt but it was a bit suspicious on applying cash. I wasn't personally involved with that verbal exchange but it's never well received with any perception of "accidental" money not being applied. Her reason was odd to say the least. Here's where I do get involved though as an owner approached a table and demanded we immediately depart due to our "attitude". (Again, I'm not involved so why am i asked to leave?) He also wasn't involved with that conversation either yet no questions asked on what had occurred. I can understand a boss sticking up for your employees. But before you go all in, I'd encourage hearing both sides. read more

The food wasn't good, with a bitter theme. I had the cauliflower for an appetizer and the fish and chips. The cauliflower is fried and the sauce had a bitter flavor. The fish and chips were not impressive either. The fish breading had a bitter flavor, the fries could have been frozen grocery store crinkle cuts, and the slaw was also bitter. Not sure how folks are rating this place a 4. The beer was fine and my server did her job well, but the food is the worst I have tasted in the Des Moines area in 8 trips to town. read more

I am from Indiana and seldom see pork tenderloins offered when I travel. Bevy's is one of the better ones I have ever had. They are cutting them fresh and pounding them out (nice and thick). Delicious! read more

We have been going to Bevy's for all the women's NCAA games. Today we go for the championship, 1 hour early and all the tables are reserved. It's a bar with mediocre food at best and there has never been reservations before. No one we saw there had been there for the other games. Basically saving for friends? Poor move. We stood around waiting as they said we could have a table. Tables empty with reserve signs. Not that great a place . Go elsewhere! read more

The fish was outstanding, along with Fry's. The service is outstanding! They are doing a great job....

Stopped for a drink place looks exactly like old establishment minus updated signage. Ordered before happy hour a tall mug of domestic lager was 8.00 a bit pricy in my opinion. Happy hour starts at 4p with some good deals. Would probably only come back during happy hour. read more

I have been there twice. The bartender always serves the perfect beer pour. Right to the top! The servers are all very personable. It's clean and smells better since the new owner took over. The pizza was very good. In a world where good customer service is a thing of the past. It's nice to find a place where they work so hard to get and keep customers.
