Able to taste test and try all sorts of meat and cheeses. Also a tiny bistro like restaurant to the side of the shop. Visited on Black Friday and it was packed out! Came for the craft cheeses to look for something unique. Walked out with $70 worth of cheese and salami and a loaf of La Mie ciabatta bread sold in this store. Pretty pleased with the whole experience. Would visit again!

I recently stopped in for the first time in a while and saw they'd expanded their dine in area, where it used to just be a sandwich of the day and a table or two, they now have about 5 tables and a menu with multiple options. I think I can confidently say this is the best sandwich I've had in Des Moines! The service is always great and insightful, and I love the vibe of the shop. The tomato soup was not too acidic with a hint of sweet, and the bleu grilled cheese paired with it perfectly. I was suggested their house salad, something lemon almond - I wasn't a huge fan just because everything seemed way too tart, and there wasn't a lot of balance. Because of the variety, and the quality of food, I'm still giving this place five solid stars and would definitely take someone else back here !

I waffle between this Aldi and the one on Douglas in Urbandale. I'd consider both of them my go to…read morestores. if I can't find something I'm looking for, that I know should be in stock, at one of them... I hit the other before heading to Walmart, Hy-Vee, or Fareway. Which one I go to first just depends on which one I am closest to from where I am at the time. Where I live is pretty much an even split between the two. Lol The revolving stock can be frustrating sometimes. But I've learned to stock up when I see something I like that I know won't last long (example: the Parkview Jalapeno cheddar sausages)... I just stack them up in a corner of my freezer. I try to get in on Wednesday evenings when the new ads go up and they stock the "Aldi Finds." I'd love to be able to go in the morning, but I can't do that with my schedule. My girlfriend and I both love the jalapeno ranch chips! The gluten free nacho cheese chips aren't too bad (generic Doritos) either... The seafood is suprisingly good. Though I'm sure even the "fresh" fish and shellfish has been flash frozen and then thawed at some point. I mean...we live in Iowa and not on a coast. The shrimp, sometimes available in a shrink wrapped clamshell , in the meat area is really good quality and doesn't lose a lot of it's size when cooked. if you like birria and don't want a lot of hassle... Try their USDA Choice birria style beef. Each roast is about 2 1/4 lbs. Chuck it into a crockpot for a few hours until it's tender enough to shred. It will not disappoint! So good! I'm not sure you can beat the prices for condiments and canned goods here. Very reasonably priced and very compareable to Walmart. Love the self checkout! I rarely wait in line for a cashier anymore. I used to be one of the guys scrounging for empty boxes... Now I have my stock of reusable shopping bags. Do yourself a favor and just get you a stock of bags! The store is always clean and the staff is friendly when I have to interact with them. Usually that just to grab someone really quick if I need pointed in the direction of something I can' find. I haven't used the curbside pickup service at either store... So I can't really comment on that option. It's got to be better than Hy-Vee. Lol Don't forget your quarter if you need a cart!

The ordering process was smooth and the menu was displayed well. The wait wasn't long. I ordered the fried ravioli (beef filled) with marinara and an Italian Chop sandwich. The Italian Chop is almost exactly what it sounds like. It's served cold. Chopped mortadella, pepperoni, capicola, salami, provolone, tomato, onion, pepper rings, and lettuce. Tossed in a creamy Italian dressing. Served on a hoagie roll. The ravoli was served terrifyingly hot. Lol It's a bold tangy marinara. The sandwich is perfect for what it is. Service was excellent for a truck and typical of when there's a line. Busy. Not much time to small talk. I'd meant to try European Taste there at Valley West Mall and pick up a couple of pieces or tiramisu for a friend's birthday. Unfortunately I found out that European Taste is closed on Mondays... You can smell the chocolates that is provided and see the vintage looking decorations. I came at a non-busy hour and the employees didn't seem very attentive for when you arrive. I was actually surprised seeing that this place also offers coffee, so as a "cafe goer", I decided to order a latte to my liking. When placing my order, I needed to wait to pay after they have made my drink which made the encounter a bit awkward as I'm standing there watching them. Receiving my coffee, it was your standard latte. As the cup was hot, there was no sleeves having me use napkins as replacement to not feel too much heat from the cup. That was another reason for my low rating.
