I'm done. It was absolutely disgusting today. I've gone from being a weekly regular to eeh, every now and then I'll swing through. Drive thru coffee is always good though. I will NEVER eat here again though. It doesn't take 1/4 cup of oil to cook a two egg omelet, my sister sopped up 3 napkins full of oil off her hash browns. Half way through my dingy coffee mug I noticed it wasn't clean. I could puke.

A great spot to grab a nice quick meal! Not a lot of seating but there was no issue finding an available table at lunch on a Saturday. They have a great all you can eat soup and salad bar for a low price. All the food was excellent. Especially the grinder fries - great seasoning and cooked perfectly. The market is small but has a decent selection to meet all your needs. This is a good place to bring your family! They also have ice cream and milkshakes!

We've eaten here several times. Breakfast, though good, hasn't always had the best service. But today's lunch was the usual wonderful tenderloin. It ranks up there in my top 2 after Goldie's in Prairie City. It seems to be a cracker coating on a really thick meat layer. Mmmm...tender and tasty! I had fries as a side and took 1/2 a sandwich home. I had the skinnier fries rather than the sidewinders. Friend's coleslaw with hers was good and a big serving. Waitress was attentive and pleasant. I then stopped at the meat counter for cheese and ham. Nice to have this there. If you're looking for a really really really good tenderloin, come here!!!

This is a diner and exactly what you expect. Rueben was very good and the fries were crispy. The onion rings were a little greasy but still good and the tenderloin was great without any gristle. Ranch dressing was fabulous. Cole slaw was a little saucy.

We stopped in here one night after picking up some things in Bondurant. The wife had heard talk of the cafe that is attached to the Brick Street Market and was also curious about the market its self. We're all so glad that we stopped!!! This place was amazing! Both the cafe and the market! We got right in and found a table. Out waitress came right over to ask us what we'd like to drink and gave us a few minutes to look over the menu. We got our drinks and placed our food orders. I have to mention that I got, what I might consider, the best root beer I've ever had! I believe it's called 1919 and it's on tap! WOW!!! Now for the food. The mini-yelper order the hot dog kids meal that came with a side and a bowl of Wells Blue Bunny ice cream. She got greens beans as her side and of course, chocolate ice cream. Our waitress was nice enough to bring it to her in a take out container so that she could take it home with her if she didn't finish it all. The wife ordered fish and chips. She really enjoyed it. They have a special type of fires I think they call twister/tornado fries. I ordered the tenderloin. How would I describe it.......Oh yeah, AMAZING!!!!! This thing was SO good! I was told they they get all of the meat they use from the meat counter in the market. The meat was perfect! A nice thick cut that was hand pounded and breaded. I had mine on an onion roll with the twister/tornado fries. And now for the market. It's a very nice and clean little market. If we lived somewhere that we didn't have the bigger grocery store, this would more then do. They did a great job with it! If we hadn't of been in the area, we might not have stopped in here yet but we're so glad that things worked out like they did! We'll deffanitly be driving back here for many more meals!!!

Bondurant, a Northeastern suburb of Des Moines, though four thousand residents, which is 100% more than they had ten years ago, is steadily growing, and there was no supermarket of any type, leaving the two Casey's General Store locations, Git 'N Go, and the BP Convenience Stores picking up the slack...but not anymore. Brian and Mary Lohse, who won the lottery back in 2013, contributed back to their hometown with a brand new grocery store called Brick Street Market & Cafe. The building's paid for...the contractors are paid for...and that's simply a rarity in today's day in age for local grocery entrepreneurs. I'm happy they performed the selfless act of building it. This saves the residents of Bondurant from driving 15 minutes (with traffic) to Ankeny or Altoona for grocery shopping. It has been open for a little over a month, and have finally found the chance to drive out and visit it. The exterior is nice, and if you live in the area, it reminds me of what Smokey Row Coffee on MLK Parkway looks like. The store hours are great, and they use the Shur-Fine private label items. They sell wine, feature a fresh deli, and have a full service meat counter. The look of the store is fresh and modern (it better be for it just opening!) Selection is very nice, having a little bit of everything. The prices are a tad higher than what you would find at Fareway or Hy-Vee, but it's the price of not having to travel to a neighboring suburb or a convenience store. I know there will be people that will have that attitude to where they'll say "This store sucks! Their prices are way too high! I'm going to Wal-Mart!", but they don't realize how important it is to have a grocery store near them, particularly for those who can't drive or don't want to fight the larger crowds at Super Target or Hy-Vee in Ankeny. This is a store we cannot take for granted. It is uneconomical for me to drive all the way out to Bondurant to go grocery shopping, as I live in the center of Des Moines, but it is a very important staple for years to come. I advise if you live near it, to shop there as much as possible! It's a nice clean store that has a great product selection and fresh items!

So, we ventured down the bike trail from Ankeny to Bondurant to try a restaurant we hadn't previously visited. It's a cute little spot in a strip mall off Highway 330, but we arrived on bikes via the back streets. We had the choice of the patio, the main seating area, or the bar. We chose the bar so we could watch all the activity. The place was about half full, but it was eerily quiet, so we jokingly asked where the mariachi band was. The hostess eventually turned on some music, but we could barely hear it, which left us feeling a little less festive. The service was a bit slow, even though they weren't very busy--especially considering what day it was. We actually witnessed some ladies leave after being ignored for too long. I'm not sure what was going on there. But one friendly waiter finally brought us a first round of margaritas ($7.59 on special) and some chips and salsa (complimentary). The margaritas were big and delicious! The chips were fresh, and the salsa--although bland, in my opinion--was fresh and good enough (I added some El Yucateco to spice mine up!). It took quite a while to get our order in, and I originally wanted the ceviche, but was sadly told they didn't have it. So I ordered the Chicken Street Tacos ($14.90), which arrived with just a few small onion slices and no cilantro. :( Kim opted for the Chicken Quesadilla appetizer ($10.59). Once the food arrived, we quickly understood why the ratings aren't all five stars. The quesadilla was super plain, and the chicken in both dishes lacked flavor and wasn't very tender. I had a side of pinto beans that were good but also lacked seasoning. The best things on my plate were the tortillas and the fried jalapeño. We opted for two more margaritas, and Kim switched it up to a Margarona ($12.99)! Like I said, the drinks were good, and our waiter warmed up a bit, adding a touch of personality to the evening. We left feeling full, yet a bit disappointed that we didn't discover the kind of Mexican food gem that would make it worth the travel in the future. It was passable, but nothing I'd make a special trip for.

We have been there before with friends for drinks and enjoyed the restaurant and good service so decided to check out their burgers. We were in around 5:15 on a Saturday night and immediately seated in a large booth. Our server was friendly and attentive and efficient (checked in briefly 3 times and let us say if we needed anything) all throughout the meal. The burger menu isn't super extensive but satisfying to all palettes- a classic/simple/just the basics, to specialty (see picture). I did sample the means for other offerings and there were many diverse offerings. Apps and dessert tempting but all I was craving was a good burger. I wasn't sure about Mac and cheese on my burger but it was a nice addition. I took some off the burger and enjoyed as an extra side/ it was creamy and mildly flavor so as to add more texture than actual flavor to the burgers. I should mention I had not eaten all day as normally I could never eat two burgers, however they were more thin than thick and tasted perfect on what tasted almost like a steamed (and soft) bun. I enjoyed the signature pickles on the side and added a little signature bacon jam to the burger which was a nice flair of flavor. My husband's burger was the perfect mix of cheese and mushrooms and flavor. Nothing special about the Tots or fries except a generous amount of both and their presentation in a mini fry basket. We waited about 10-15 minutes for our food but between water and drinks served it was a quick wait, especially for a Saturday night. This is a pleasant restaurant whether eating in a quiet booth or for watching bets while eating. Lots of options for couples or larger groups. There isn't much parking close to the restaurant but we found spaces at the hotel right next to it. Worth the drive. Craving satisfied.

The wings were crispy and saucy (definitely a highlight), and the waffle fries were seasoned perfectly and so good dipped in their ranch. The BBQ plate was super solid too tender, smoky meat with classic sides like green beans, mac and cheese, and cornbread that felt comforting and homemade. Also have to mention the chips and queso moment, simple but hit the spot. Service was friendly and quick, which made it even better after a long day of traveling and being outside.
