The cashier was extremely nice and helpful and the food was fantastic as well as the Dr Pepper. I had the chicken Caesar salad wrap and the Mac and cheese and it tasted fantastic. I went to the east side McAllisters and it was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant! I ordered online hopeing for a great meal and my sandwich was made wrong. I went there hopeing to get my sandwich remade and witnessed the manager throwing sandwiches in the back. They said they were short staffed when there was 6 people just standing around at the front counter!! The manager came up to me finally after waiting forever and asked rudely what my sandwich was and after I told him he walked away. Asked one of the people standing around what was going on and they told me he was sick and my samdwich would not be able to be remade! Slow service. Lots of push back from cashiers. Cashiers don't act like they are trained. I can't do that... our system crashed... I bought gift cards which no one knew how to ring up so that took about 15 minutes for them to verify simple information and when I told the manager I also wanted to order food she said okay and required me to wait in line all over again like she didn't want to take my order or it was beneath her. I love McCalister's. It was my go to in Louisville for my main meal. It bothers me that after dark the store lights are always off and the main sign by the road is broken and never lit up. I can't imagine how much money the store loses due to poor visibility. It's like the employees want the store to go out of business. This store could be busting at the seems daily with business but it has been poorly managed and the employees seem entitled and irritated if people come in at night. I've always like McAlister's. Been going there for years. I travel a lot and this is one of the places I can go to feel at "home". I thought it was funny reading some of the reviews, especially Penelope who when looking at her other reviews, reveals that her one star rating of McAlister's is in keeping with her other reviews. She doesn't seem to like anything except asian food. Go figure. Anyway, I like McAlister's and will continue to go to their different locations as I travel the southeast. Such a disappointing visit. We are pretty regulars here. I ordered the cheese spud for my daughter. Cheddar jack cheese, tomatoes and ranch on the side. The first spud came out with American cheese and tomatoes on it. We ended up sending it back. I also ordered the ultimate nachos, no green onion, no olives, on the side jalepenos, sour cream, and guacamole. They were sent out on a dirty plate. Again I sent it back. After my food was then delivered a second time, I scraped the potato out of its skin, only to find an old, hard shell. The Portia was mostly unediable as it was so hard and old. The nachos were basically bottom of the bag with little chili or cheese. This is the 2nd visit in a row like this. Sad to say it has gone down hill. McAlister's Deli is one of our favorite places to eat during a road trip and this restaurant did a great job while dealing with a challenging order in the middle of the Sunday lunch rush. Someone placed a 40 person to go order that caused quite a backup and irritated many of the patrons. We patiently waited and watched the manager encourage the kitchen staff who were now overwhelmed and the orders kept coming. The staff did the best they could to estimate the wait times and warn people who might not appreciate the longer than normal.. The owner was there and she was caught in the middle while waiting for her order as well. Despite being with other people, she walked around and bussed tables and when people were getting a bit testy, she grabbed two handfuls of cookies and took them to the tables and others waiting for their to go orders. She explained the situation and apologized while maintaining a positive attitude. The owner never interfered, just helped. She never bothered the manager, there was nothing she could do and the manager was doing a fantastic job while explaining the situation to anyone who complained. I don't do reviews often but in this case, it was less about the food, which was great as usual, it was about a team doing a fantastic job when in a tough situation. We recommend stopping and we thank the team today for a chance to watch you all in action. We will be back. read more

I'm beyond shocked that this spot only has 2 reviews. When I was here on a Saturday afternoon, it was a mad house and we were stuck in a line of at least 20 people and also had issues finding a table. Nonetheless, I'm glad I believed the 2 previous reviewers 'cause this place was a great lunch spot. It reminded me a lot of a Panera, but with even more options. We went with The Black Angus Roast Beef loaded potato and an Italian Chopped salad, thinking we'd split them. However, this was way more food than we could stomach for two of us and we probably would have been better taking the You Pick 2/half option. (For a regular sized loaded potato + salad, our bill was around $20, which was fair for how much food they set down in front of us.) The entree size loaded potato was actually two potatoes cut open and pushed together. The toppings were great, but it still needed some seasoning on the potato itself. With the pile of toppings on top, it was hard to get butter on the potato. Still really delicious though! The salad was my favorite part. I like restaurants that don't make their salads the afterthought by just throwing some romaine, tomato and cucumber on it. This one had a ton of meat and veggies on it and was really flavorful. A manager came by to check up on us and make sure that we liked all our food and that we didn't need anything else, which was appreciated also. He almost talked me into one of their seasonal desserts. The only con was that it was busy and that we had to wait awhile, but it's not their fault that they're so popular. If I'm passing through an area where a McAlister's Deli is located, I wouldn't hesitate to stop again. read more

My wife and I enjoy our visits to McAllisters. The food is fresh and consistent, and the tomato bisque is fantastic -- far better than Tom + Chee. Our only complaint was that there were numerous tables and booths that were dirty and needed bussing - there weren't many clean tables to choose from. Nevertheless, we'll try them again. read more

It's on the pricier side, $10 average or so. If you order a drink it's another $2. I had heard a lot of hype about this place, and was slightly let down. I ordered the McAlister Club, and it was decent, but nothing to write home about. The salads I saw were enormous, and they're definitely generous with the toppings. The staff are friendly and they refill your drink and bring your food to you, but it's self-seating. I went about 11am on a Thursday and the line went to the back of the store. It took us about 20 minutes to receive our food after we ordered. Overall, not as good as I had anticipated, but a decent sit-down restaurant for lunch. read more

One of my favorite places to eat. I absolutely love their chicken and dumplings and their broccoli cheese soup was delicious. All the sandwiches I've had were good and I love their tea. On the negative side the prices can be high but you do get a lot of food for it. The spoon chocolate cake is to die for and the carrot cake is the best I've ever had.
