Picture of front of store of the worst customer service in Algonquin

Came into the McAlister Deli on Randall Road in Algonquin hoping to get a sandwich and soup. When I came in I knew what I wanted before I got there. I walked up to order and was not acknowledged by the staff working there. They kept walking past me. The final straw was a staff member getting something to drink right in front of me and then walking into the back. I asked if anyone was working the front and they just shrugged and walked away. I turned and walked out. Poor service. This is basic. Wait on your customer.

My first time being in McAllister deli, the menu looks really good. The service was great really clean place and the guy was really nice on waiting for me and my decisions on what I should get.

When I say we have been to this McAlister's Deli a lot, I mean, we have been to this McAlister's a lot. Until recently, we had McAlister's at least once a month since 2020. It's my daughter's favorite place. We have had our meals in the restaurant and we have done curb-side pick up. This is the one place that has never, ever gotten our order wrong. Everything is always hot and our order is complete. The food is very good and the portion sizes are excellent. My absolute favorite meal is the Rachel with horseradish Dijon added, a side of potato salad and a sweet tea. So yummy! The restaurant is always clean and the employees are always so nice!

Overall the service was great, tablets were clean, lots of sitting space, and the food came out in a decent amount of time. I tried the Savannah Chopped Salad that came with Seasoned grilled chicken, dried cranberries, Gorgonzola, honey roasted almonds, tomato and cucumber on mixed greens and the dressing was Sherry Shallot which complemented the salad very well. I also ordered a strawberry lemonade and a cup of country potato soup. Overall everything tasted great, and will definitely be back to try more items.

The food is great here! The hardest part for me is to pick what I want to eat cause there are so many great options! My husband ordered the chicken salad and I ordered the King Club Sandwich! The sandwich is perfect for a large appetite or to even split with someone! The Max and Cheese was hot, gooey, and delicious! The pasta was el dente and not mushy at all! A lot of the people sitting around us were eating the Large Spud and they looked delicious! So I will be back for sure to try that next ! The iced tea was yummy too, not bitter at all!

If you're looking for a spot with hearty sandwiches, soups, & salads- you must try McAlister's! Their menu is huge. There is a plethora of options, something for every taste and palate. They have a huge variety of fresh-made sandwiches, melts, wraps, salads, soups, and Spuds. The Spuds are absolutely enormous and easily feed two people. They don't skimp on the toppings. They also have a huge selection for the kids. Even the pickiest eater will find a favorite. I typically order the Half & Half. I do half a Reuben (small uncharge) with Chicken Tortilla Soup. I like doing the half and half as a full size sandwich is just too big for one person. They offer numerous combinations: half salad and soup, half sandwich and soup, etc. The Reuben is piled high with fresh and juicy corned beef and melty cheese. The perfectly-toasted rye bread is slathered with Thousand Island & Sauerkraut. They always do a great job with the sauce, always just right! The Chicken Tortilla Soup is another favorite. It has the perfect amount of flavor with a bold kick of heat. They serve it with tortilla chips- which I like to use for dipping. Another favorite is their Tomato Cucumber salad. It's a very small side, but it's my favorite. Juicy tomatoes. Onions. Crisp Cucumber in an Italian-style "dressing". I usually order 2-3 of them. As for their shareables, I have not tried them- so I cannot comment on that. Dessert wise, save the calories. I am not a fan of their dessert offerings and typically just skip it. The portions are large and the price is very reasonable. It's great delivered or eaten at the restaurant. It's a very popular place with kids and families. Delivery is always fast, fresh, and piping hot. Everything is packaged securely and I've never had them make a mistake on the order. They're a solid and reliable choice in our delivery lineup!

Summary: a good deli but not one that makes you wonder how you lived without it beforehand. Of course this was literally opening day and they will continue to improve. What we had: I had the New Yorker - corned beef and pastrami. It was good - it came with a spicy brown mustard but I think it was put on too sparsely because I could not even taste it and the sandwich was dry. What was great was the meat - great flavor - and it was piled thick. If I got it again I would put my slaw on the sandwich. My wife had the Reuben - KABOOB! This was a great sandwich and the Russian dressing, etc. made it moist and delicious. Prices tend to run a little steep but for the quality you will pay it. Lots of room in the place and free WiFi. I received a voucher for free iced tea once a week for a year so you will see my back again. Overall I would say that it is as good as any other deli in the area.

Terribly inconsistent…read more We've been to many Firehouse Subs over the years and generally the experience has been good and customer service has been decent. The inconsistency has been the portion size and correctness of order and based on other reviews, this location has been experiencing this issue for years. We even ordered online to make clear our substitutions and additions and yet we received incorrect orders and sparse amounts of meat. It's frustrating to gamble on what we're going to get and it shouldn't be on us to check every single sandwich in our to-go order to make sure they got it right. We support the mission of Firehouse Subs and fire fighters everywhere but we're not coming back to this location, because it's too exhausting. See my sandwich photo below for what a bad sandwich and a good sandwich looks like. Keep in mind these were in the same order.

Mind you, my wife and I had never eaten anything from Firehouse before. And wow! We both had the French Dip sandwich and it was delicious! We also ordered the Mac & Cheese which we enjoyed as well! This place puts Subway and Jimmy John's to shame. Subway has been going downhill for years and, sadly, our Jimmy John's changed owners and you can tell. I will gladly give my money to Firehouse Subs from now on!
