I'm not exactly sure of the proper address for this pub. I would have said that it was in Kildare had we not seen the Dublin flags outside of it. Suffice to say that it isn't teribbly far from Sallins, so it must be pretty much on the border.
We had been cycling along the Grand Canal for some time now without any vestiges of civilisation. For about 10 miles, all we had passed was one farm building and one house. Then, all of a sudden, we came upon a load of house boats like a little floating village (I wonder where they get there water and electricity from?). Then, at the next bridge, we came upon Mc Evoys.
Mc Evoys is a lovely little pub, with loads of tables right out on the tow path. I doubt that the place has changed in years: outside, the walls are white washed while inside Mc Evoys has a really nice old-style stained wood interior.
Lovely pub, I wish I could give precise directions than "keep going along the canal 'til you get there". read more
