Reno-O-Paint did a good job painting the interior of our house in December 2019. I started reaching out to them and finally got a projected start date of late Sept. 2020 at the end of July, 2020. As we got into the middle and late August, I tried to reach out to them again to get a firmer start date. After numerous attempts by me they finally responded in the second week of September that they would not be able to follow through with the late September start date. I was told they could do the job next Spring! They stated that due to CoVid they had laid off half their work force! I understand that CoVid has created huge effects in our personal lives and economy. However, I noticed that other companies are responding and continuing to take on work. Ren-O-Paint's decision and late communication with me forced me to immediately search and find a company willing to take on my house painting. Fortunately, I was able to succeed finding someone and will get my house painted when I wanted it done and not to Ren-O-Paint's schedule. I regret having to give this negative review of Ren-O-Paint not keeping their commitments, but so it is! Despite the crisis, other companies are able to make commitments and keep them!

Josh was our point of contact. His first visit was checking out the scope of the project. He assessed the project would take about a day and a half and we agreed to have him perform the job. The first day was pretty straightforward. I'd check in every so often to make sure things were going well. By the end of the project, Josh had gone through 2 1/2 cans of wasp killer. We should have taken care of that earlier, but family issues put it to the back burner. Thankfully, he made sure things were safe before beginning work near the roof. Early in the second day, Josh had finished up. He returned later to touch base with us and do a final walk around of his work. Everything looked great, and Josh was friendly and professional the entire job. We will definitely schedule these guys for future projects whenever possible.

My first call was picked up by their admin, who asked details about what work I wanted to get done. She said to look out for their e-mail, which I received soon after. In the e-mail, I was informed of the standard charges for general handyman work ($185), per hour rates thereafter, cancellation fees etc. I was informed that they will be able to help me with the projects, and they might be able to fit me in as early as the following week. I needed to provide photos and notes so they could better judge project scope, the service location, credit card details, and complete billing information. I responded after three days with details and photos of the work needed, service and billing address and my credit card. Since then, I've been ghosted. Over a period of one week after I responded to their e-mail, none of my calls to them were answered, and no response to my follow-up e-mails or the voicemail I left them. I finally contacted a few other handymen in the area and one of them got the job done professionally.

I contacted him and he cane out and gave me a verbal quote. I agreed and told him I was having floors replaced so I would need to have that completed first. He said if He did that part he could give me a price break, unfortunately his price was higher than the flooring company that I was using. So we set the date for after the floors were completed. Along the way i reached out regarding trim work and replacing doors to which he rarely answered the phone and preferred text. I would ask when he could start and his responses were hit and miss. Finally when we set a date, I reached out the day before and asked about items I was purchasing, and then asked him to send a final invoice (which he did not seem to want to provide) and when i gave him all the prices we discussed he mentioned an additional $500 or so for the paint. Now keep in mind when we initially discussed this project he said the price would only increase if I chose a color other than white. And he was giving me the price because it was because he would use the same color and sheen for the walls and baseboard. He decided in the end that he wanted more money and since he does not provide written estimates without repeatedly asking, he was able to change his price. Being that tine was running out I asked if he would honor his price and told him to cancel one item on the list because this was going to put me over budget. I asked if he would honor his original price, and from there he stopped responding. The next morning I called to see what the plans were since I had to schedule time off to have someone there for them, he did not respond to texts or my last call. In the end, I am fortunate I was able to experience this before the project started since it could've become very stressful. I do not recommend any company that does not provide written quotes and will change prices on a whim. Not to mention one that stops responding to a client that they've scheduled a job with.
