Yey, a Mazzio's nearby! We drove 17 miles to get here, and it was definitely worth it. Located in the quaint town of Winder, Mazzio's Pizza is worth a trip out of your way. The restaurant is unassuming... We ate on the patio sitting on old metal patio chairs with squished down cushions, with a TV mounted on the ceiling playing the Braves game. Service was super-friendly and the food arrived fresh and hot. We had a ground beef and green pepper pizza as well as one of their dessert pizzas. Both hit the spot. The pizza sauce at Mazzio's is one of the better ones for a chain, and we love how they dice up the green peppers really small. Monday is pizza buffet day (I checked on our way out)... Tried this restaurant for the first time last night despite all of the horror stories I'd previously heard about the nasty kitchen and bad food. Unfortunately, the stories were accurate. A roach crawled across my foot in the middle of our meal. Our Ken's pizza, which the employee told us was the the most delicious and popular item on the menu tasted old and stale, and when we told her, she assured us that it was fresh and flitted off to finish her sidework..yea, great service indeed. We tried the lunch buffet today. 36$ for 4 people with drinks not including tip. Service was good but I didn't care for the pizza. I was thinking of the Kens pizza I grew up with and this was more like dominos. The worst part was the smell at the buffet. We all smelled it and I nearly lost lost my appetite. We had the best customer service experience at mazzios!! We called and order 6 pizzas for pick-up, got there within 15 minutes and the pizzas were ready within 5 minutes. The nice girl at the counter made us some to-go drinks for while we waited for it and was very polite. Good experience. Also love their pizza- their thin crust is the best! read more

BEWARE, is all I can say. The place is run down and disgusting. I can only speak from experience and say that after we paid for take out, we watched the men making the pizza's, well first of all their clothes are dirty and disgusting, they wear their trousers around their arses and spend most of the time trying to pull them back up with the same hands that they are making your pizza with. To top it off there was one man wiping his nose with his arm and when we spoke to the girl about it, she asked if we would feel better if he washed his hands!! He proceeded to wash his hands and then wipe it on his shirt!! We requested that someone else should handle our pizza, but overall they treated us like we had stated something wrong! I put parmesan cheese on my pizza, and are half a large pizza. After I was very full, I then saw something greenish in the parmesan cheese container. I brought it to the waitresses attention as I went to pay. I intended to pay, but was hoping there would be at least an apology, if not an offer to comp the meal. All I received was a excuse that it was just kids putting the red pepper seasoning in the shakers. I said that isn't red pepper. It's a couple balls if green cheese. She just said the same excuse. I paid, and left the other half of the pizza. The other waitress at least immediately took the shaker away to the back to fix it. Wish I would have made a bigger deal, because now I'm paying the price. I would risk this place if I were you. Regardless of the fact of it being a rude waitress, it's the management that's at fault fur having moldy parmesan cheese shakers at the tables. First time in Winder and Mazzios was great. The "works" was on special and we were able to get it on a thin crust. Very good pizza!

After about a year since going, my family and I returned to this place after my son's soccer game. We were already in Auburn, GA so I figured we would take advantage of being only 15 minutes away from Mazzios. Unfortunately, the trip made me update my review and give them a deprovement (deprove is a hip word I made up back in the early 80's) in the star ranking system. Pizza was all kinds of watery...cheese bread left a lot to be desired. The one positive was the salad bar but that goes only so far. We actually had to send one pizza back to be recooked because it was so bad. One thing that really irritates me is their seats. If you go back and read my initial review about the poor quality of the seats/booths, you will realize how pathetic it is that I have not been there in a year and these things still have not been fixed. They could fix the upholstery on these booths by investing about 1,000 dollars which is probably 1/10 of what they sell on a Friday nigh, but they refuse to fix them. Unfortunately, I do not think I will be returning to this Mazzios again, even though Mazzios was one of my favorite pizza chains when I was growing up. read more

Ordered delivery on a Thursday night. The girl who took my order was really nice; she said delivery would be 45-55 minutes. This normal delivery time so it was no problem. However, it took over an hour for the driver to finally arrive. When she came to the door, she put the food on the ground to hand me the card slip to sign. Yes the food was in a hot bag but this is not something you want to see a delivery driver do is put your food on the ground. Late lunch buffet. Pizza is on par with other buffet style restaurants. Tables were clean. Staff was very friendly and took good care of me. Tea was sweet...and perfect. Negative is that the building is pretty old and could use a makeover, both exterior and interior. read more

I am praying I do not get sick. I watched an employee scoop croutons with only a cup and no gloves at all. Decent fare for decent price. My first impression was that it was more of a sit down let your kid roam free in the restaurant kinda place. It smelled kindha little like a day care. First time visiting - a Tuesday afternoon around 2:30 a we were the only customers. That should have been our first warning. We ordered the salad bar, a calzone (not the dipper ring, but a calzone, which the waiter/cook assured us he could make),and the lasagna with meat sauce. The salad bar, while not exceptional, was ok. First bite of my pineapple proved that the fruit had turned, as in, I got that sharp burning, spicy taste. Well, that ruined my entire salad, so I went back for a fresh plate. Our food arrived fairly quickly. The "calzone" was a pizza, with another pizza crust on top of it. It was overlooked, and frankly, sucked. My lasagna arrived, floating in a bowl of grease. The taste was funky, almost like someone had spilled a bottle of wine into it. The second bite was when the raw sewage smell kicked in, and I promptly pushed it away and did not eat any more. The toast was good, though! Both my husband and I were debating going by Walmart for some spare underwear in case we needed them on the way home, as we were sure that a night of food poising was in our future.
