Having just returned home from The Maynard, after a one night stay sleeping in what can only be described as a disco of a room (music blaring out from the ballroom till late onto the night), I can honestly say never again.
In the evening, both my partner and I were completely unable to sleep due to the noise, but noone from the hotel was available, as we attempted to try to move rooms/checkout. When I subsequently complained the next morning, I received not so much as a sorry, and was informed I had to expect this as a wedding was on, and as I was one of the wedding party, in their opinion, was clearly not entitled to the "perfect" nights sleep promised on the hotel website.
Why was this not mentioned when we booked?
If it was we would have booked the Fox House a couple of miles down the road, where having stayed therefore before, can also say with first hand experience, provides more comfortable accomodation, better food, better service, and does not have a manageress called Tanya, who is damn-right rude (and clearly in the wrong job).
If you have any plans to stay at this hotel, please ensure you check that a wedding of function is not on. Book elsewhere, or prepare yourself for a sleepless night.
Based upon a review of my hotel stay I left on another platform, expect them to respond with lies to try to discredit me, rather than just owning the complaint.
I will however leave you to judge for yourself, and have attached a Dropbox link to a soundbite taken from my room at circa 2300, clearly demonstrating I was not getting the "perfect" nights sleep advertised.

If the owner of the hotel (I am not prepared to speak to the manageress again) wishes to discuss further with me, you have my number. read more
