where do i start? very clean, great customer service, rooms very comfortable, well furnished. fab toiletries and the bathroom was very impressive, the sink holes free of hairs no dirt in corners, having worked as a chambermaid, i always check in corners for signs of bad house keeping! and the bath with the choice of water heat settings, fast fill. and the shower, i want that in my house!
and the bed was so comfortable, down duvets. 2 very fluffy but firm pillows each! very smooth high quality cotton bedding. air conditioning purred quietly and for a city hotel it was well insulated from outside noise! we stayed in a room on the 2nd floor. though room was a little cramped it was really just for sleeping in! oh and the very large screen tv that you can watch tv on, access the net and hire movies (for a fee) easy to learn use to use remote, free pod port, morning call and we could have had breakfast in our room without extra charge (please note this could change)
very easy to find once we got into sheffield and when out drinking it seemed central to all our needs. good restaurants and bars. in fact we would have been very happy to have stayed in leopold square as the atmosphere was relaxed and buzzing with people
the breakfast was good, self service. (with choice of other hot cooked to order items) good quality meaty sausages, not the nasty rubbery cheap rusk filled sausages that some places pass as a sausage!
bacon done just right, as in the fat was crisped and browned, and the meat not dried and over grilled. though the scrambled eggs had a crust developed from standing. good quality grilled plum tomatoes, fried mushrooms (not deep fried and greasy) black pudding (moist not dried out)
good choice of juices, cereals, melon and continetal hams though the cheese choice a little to pack lunch cheeses for me
all you can drink leaf tea's and ground coffee, toast and more toast on demand.
delay in order of poached eggs, but they did arrive perfect!
well staffed for a busy breakfast service, (nothing worse then trying to catch the attention of the sole harrassed waiter/ess, when all you want is a re-fill etc) waiting staff very polite and provided excellent service!
on checking out tea and juice provided in bar area self serve, and again it was a busy checking out time, but well staffed again so no long queues developing, and we could wait for the rest of our party in the bar with a juice or another cup of tea
though the parking information the hotel provided was out dated, so i would say check with the car park you intend to park your car at. the hotel literiture i downloaded quoted £5.60 but the car park NCP charged £9.80 for 24hours parking (you need to validate the parking ticket on checking out for this price)
last but not least, the late bar and the barman that provided us with the nuts and olives a big thank you as it had gone 1 am and the kitchen was closed, we all had the late night munchies! read more
