The team that came out, Peanut, John, and Jeremiah, was absolutely incredible. They were thoughtful, kind, professional, and so quiet I barely knew they were here. They arrived on time, completed everything, and had the area cleaned up by 2:30 p.m. Based on Ronnie's quote and recommendation, they also did minor duct work to enlarge the supply ducts to the far end of the house. We heard and felt air coming out of three vents that we honestly had not felt in over 20 years of living here. Ronnie was the only person who mentioned that solution when he came out to quote us for a new system, and it made an immediate difference. While the install was happening, Mrs. Daniels, the owner, came by personally to collect payment and have us sign the contract. I am usually someone who prefers to do things online, but having her show up in person and put a face to the business was such a thoughtful touch. She even hugged me at the end of the transaction. From start to finish, this was a wonderful experience. The system works beautifully, the house already feels better, and the people made the whole process feel personal and cared for. Out neighbors recommended these guys. I spoke with Kylie by phone and a service person rang the doorbell 2 hours later. (? Matt and another guy in training) were courteous and quick. Took them about 15 minutes to check things out, fix the problem and electronically invoice us for a very reasonable cost. We already had two other companies come out and diagnosed our furnace which they confirmed that it was indeed..."broken". I can't help but first say that this company is now (and forever) my go to people when it comes to our HVAC (and what they are able product and services they offer). I had gotten the referral from my boss and decided to go ahead and get my ticket in. I EMAILed them and they responded back within (or even less than) 30 minutes! Elizabeth was so helpful and friendly with my situation on the furnace and told me that one of their guys would be available to check it out and to give us an estimate of what their service would be to replace it. They were very accommodating with my schedule because I wasn't going to be available until after 3pm that day. Jesse was the person who came and checked out our "broken" furnace and to give us an estimate. Their communication was wonderful, Jesse texted me when he was 10 mins away. I was so sure our furnace was broken because we had two diagnostic done on the furnace to confirm that it was INDEED...broken. I told Jesse of our situation and what the results of the last two reviews. I s*** you not....he fixed it. We had freaking heat for the evening and the following week. Our gas furnace is about 20 years old and was told by two other companies that it was broken and needed to be fixed and maybe even the AC too! Jesse was so helpful explaining to me of what he found and fixed (and I actually understood him! haha). He was so professional and so helpful in our situation. Long review short - because of our furnace breaking down the first time and that we have an 8 month old, we decided to get it replaced. Both Elizabeth and Jesse from the company had great communications in helping us set up a date and answering any other questions that we may have had. We seriously got very lucky with finding these wonderful people and company. Anyways, they gave us a date and time. (Helped me out and) showed up earlier than expected to get started on the replacement. Their team was very friendly, professional, and funny to work/talk to. They replaced our furnace within a reasonable time and told me of what is to be expected on turning on a new furnace. Overall, my experience with this company for the past week has been very pleasant and gave me a peace of mind of my home. I could not have asked for anyone better. These guys will be replacing my AC once that gives in as well - haha. These guys are definitely a keeper and I would highly recommend this to anyone in the Glen Allen/Richmond area. I got really sick in January 2024 with Severe Migraines, Severe Coughing, Respiratory Symptoms, Allergy Immunotherapy For 3 years constantly every week my son and I both and could figure out what it was, and several Allergy Medications, I also Fainted Twice! So we did some deep cleaning in our home and discovered that we had a Mold Issue. Contacted my Homeowner Insurance they sent out a HVAC Company this October the Technician immediately asked who installed your Furnace and HVAC system I said Sean at Northstar Heating & Air did back in August 2022 he said ma'am there are Code Violations and your Carbon Monoxide is not out back together I am going to have to shut off the Heat & Hot Water you all have Carbon Monoxide Poisoning in your Home and it has been for at least 2 years you all could have Passed Away " ! He said contact the Fire Department and Columbia Gas Right Away and get them both out here. I would also contact an Attorney. I am so sorry that this Negligence happened to you all. I had no reason to go into the Furnace area to look because I don't know what I am looking at. I am not a HVAC Specialist so I wouldn't no. Contacted Over 25 Attorneys the Statutes of Limitations in Virginia is 2 Years. So there was nothing that an Attorney could do for us. Contacted Northstar the Owner Sean says that I am lying and someone else came out and did it after him. I have pictures and proof & Emergency Room Documentation that states Carbon Monoxide Poisoning. PLEASE DON'T USE THIS COMPANY. BUYERS BEWARE. I HAVE REPORTED THIS COMPANY TO THE BBB. To get this repaired we had to pay another Company over $1,000 to fix this issue and we were without Heat & Hot Water for 2 Weeks. We had Our Air Ducts Cleaned Over $500. Got assigned this contractor by American home shield for a failing AC system. They did come out…read morepretty quickly to check the system and determined there was a leak due to low pressure and their solution they gave to AHS was to use a leak stop while refilling the system . ( 24 year old system ) When to my surprise, I got an estimated out of pocket expense for this fix I did some research . The out of pocket was 570 but they were also charging AHS nearly 750 for additional items to bring the 24 year old unit up to current code. 250 to raise the condenser 3 inches off my existing concrete pad. 220 for refrigerant locking caps 250 for float switch. My 570 not covered was for a sight glass the manager of AF1 insisted was required by not Code but. " by manufacturer " but never told me which manufacturer and from my research is total BS. I called the VA state and local building code office to discuss the items related to code and they both said totally not required unless replacing the unit. VA Property maintenance code applied to this case NOT building code. Called AF1 to discuss and Gerald would not take my call, was too busy for that but emailed me at length several times saying he was right, they were wrong and he would be in touch with my state building code POC to "hold a class with them" direct quote . I doubt he did. If using this contractor, read the estimate very carefully and question things. I'm not sure they will be used by American home shield much more as I was told they were being looked into. Due to my research, AHS sent another contractor out who said the unit was done, AHS agreed to replace the entire condenser unit evap coil.. my out of pocket .. ZERO dollars.
