I started out by ordering 2 Beef Chimichangas, Fried, nothing else. Perhaps 10-15 minutes later it came out and I headed for home. I dove into the Chimichangas first. Good. Slightly above average. And, of course served with Refried Beans, and Spanish Rice. Good food. I hope to return to try Chile Rellenos, Enchiladas, and more. The food is very reasonably priced, the store is clean, and all personnel were very friendly.

The bad thing I didn't like was that they had Nopales (cactus) which I LOVE and very hard to find around here for like $6.99 as an appetizer. When it came out I was very disappointed. It was so small and for that price I would have figured we would have gotten a lot more. They should have just offered it as a side add on, not an appetizer. They also make their cocktail drinks strong and pretty! The drink prices were also normal and not too high priced. Overall, a good Mexican restaurant if you're in the area.

There are a ton of options on the menu - the usual tacos, enchiladas, etc I went for the tacos, they had all the authentic cuts of meats including lengua (beef tongue) which is honestly the bomb. There is a salsa bar where you load up as much as you want plus a variety of raw veggies. They had free chips that day but the marketing was super confusing. Room for improvement: Orders are punched in manually so the cashier actually got the total wrong and I had to check his math. The amount of chips provided was pretty stingy I get that it's free...but c'mon its chips. Tables and seats could be wiped down more too. The salsas could be labeled to note the spice levels. Some are pretty darn spicy.

The food here is up there with the best Mexican street food I've ever had -- maybe #2 for me! I usually get 3 tacos with different meats. You can have up to 2 different kinds of meat with a 3-taco order. I've had the carnitas, the carne azada, the chicken, the pastor, and the camarón. Everything is great, exactly as you'd want from street tacos. I've also had the quesadilla which is cheesy and crispy brown on the outside. Depending on who is there, you might need a little bit of Spanish, but they have always been patient with me, and I with them. Sometimes it's all English. Needing to speak a mix is a small price to pay for such delicious food, so don't worry about it! Thank you so much for such great food over the years! (As an aside, I'm not AI just because I used an em dash! Of course, that's what an AI would say, so I guess you'll just have to decide for yourself. )

I came in for a pick up order, since I was in willow lawn for light shopping. I love that they have a cool bar area, and outside seating. This definitely looks like a cool hang out spot for tacos and great drinks. I was really impressed with their to go bags (pictured with the chicharrones) which look more like a cool tote bags, I'm almost positive they could be reusable (which I will be doing)! He had high energy, even though it was a bit warm in the restaurant. He made some amazing mocktails; I had a virgin pina colada, and my partner got a "drank." I forgot what it was, but she said it was tasty. Note: If you don't like onions, be specific with the staff because the kitchen apparently loves them. We, however, do not. Ha That being said, I ordered the barbacoa street tacos (onions piled on top), and my partner ordered something similar, chicken tacos, maybe? Anyway, she had to send it back because they were all up inside the taco, and she wasn't having it. She ended up ordering a chimichanga or burrito-type entree, sans onions, and said it was exquisitely prepared, apart from the pico de gallo accompaniment. We had a great time here, and the staff was so accommodating; the service is top-notch at Kahlo's Taqueria and Bar. It was obvious by the number of regulars we saw come and go from the bar. All in all, we had a fabulous time; the food and drinks were sensational, and the staff was the star of the show. Will try again. I totally spaced on taking pictures of the food, but I did manage to snap a pic of our drinks at least.

The chips and salsa were decent but needed a little more spice and salt. I had a cheese enchilada and a ground beef taco à la carte. My sister had the birria tacos. We're from California so we weren't expecting "California style Mexican food", but we're a little underwhelmed with the food. The Birria Consume was not what we expected, it was a little too "tomato" for us - we're used to more consume and this was more of a sauce. The beans were good, they were more pinto beans rather than refried. I'm not used to Mexican rice with peas, carrots, and corn in it, but it wasn't bad. The ground beef taco was very bland - only lettuce and cheese with it. The enchilada sauce was decent, but not hot - more lukewarm. It wasn't a bad meal, just not what we're used to eating. The restaurant was nice, the decorations were well done. The restaurant filled in with a large group as we were leaving. All in all, it wasn't bad, but we've had better.

If you go on Wednesday (any time), tacos are $1.99. They are opened from 10am-9pm. They had 8 options to choose from. We picked the chorizo, carne asada, carnitas, and chicharrón en salsa verde. These little, double-layered tacos packed a lot of flavor. Everything was delicious, but we agreed that our favorite was the carnitas (fried pork). It had a crunch to it that was perfect. All of the tacos were topped with cilantro and diced raw onions, but you can opt to not have it. They also had a sauce bar with different sauce options from the wimpy tomatillo sauce to the hottest. The server was friendly and nice. They also offered a good variety of menu items including desserts. I asked the waitress about their tacos on other days and she said they are $3.49 each and slightly bigger. Finding a cheap meal is hard these days. We will definitely be back.

Her food truck along Route 1 at the Chesterfield line has rescued me from late night hunger many a time. This may seem like an unconventional spot for one to celebrate a 30th birthday, but the prices are on point, the flavors couldn't be more fabulous, and the service is always delivered with a smile. Freshly renovated, Restaurante Isabel is an oasis of warmth along the often desolate Route 1 corridor. The bright oranges and reds on the exterior and interior beckon you to try out her delectable dishes. Our party got pupusas, tacos, and gorditas choc full of carnitas, barbacoa, and chicken. Their made to order approach meant everything was hot, crisp, and packed with flavor just like Isabel promises. They have a full range of Mexican sodas and drinks, but I hope they get a liquor license soon because her meals would go perfectly with a margarita. I can't recommend this spot enough for its down to earth feel and fantastic flavors.
