Showed up there, the owner wasn't welcoming at all..she saw me walk in and continued talking on the phone and headed towards the back..so I went ahead and was browsing around. Didn't find anything I liked, so I waited for her attention which took more than 30 minutes or so..I asked her about a few outfits that were hung and told her I was looking to buy two outfits for two different events coming up. She had no interest..I told her what I was looking for and style..but she kept showing me something that I wasn't looking for. I walked out after a few minutes. I had this blouse made for my wedding sangeet. It's for a lengha, which are the same colors as the blouse. As you can see the tailor totally messed up the stitching and expected me to pay more to have it fixed again! I paid $95 for this stitching before hand and the lady claimed we cannot refund your money. They were willing to fix it and charge me more on top of the $95 that I already paid! I have such a beautiful lengha for this blouse which is totally ruined now! When I tried on the blouse, it was going up my chest looking like I cannot breathe. The side stitching in the picture is uneven and the length and width is not proportioned or straight! It looks like they ran it through a sewing machine and just kept letting it run through it! I don't understand how a store that offers tailoring at such a high cost can stitch a blouse to look like a piece of crap! Be aware of this place! read more

I also had my salwar kameez altered since I got it online and it was pretty big on me. Based on other reviews, I chose this shop for my first time buy ever for some traditional indian clothes for a Puja at my friend's house. It is not easy to find an Indian boutique around here which employs a local, skilled tailor who can stitch quality Indian blouses from scratch and also do alterations. For this reason, I gave Maya's Fashion five stars. Pricing is fair and the owner, Mohinder, is very sweet and accommodating. It is easy to communicate with her. I came to her with two very complex, heavily beaded/embroidered blouses, and her tailor (who does not work in the store) was able to stitch them with all of my specifications. The wonderful thing is that once you come to pick up your finished blouse, Mohinder can do any minor alterations right in the store before you leave. She wants you to be satisfied and feel that it fits perfectly. My advice is to be VERY thorough when discussing your desires and specifications. If you do this and come to an agreement on exactly how the blouse should be stitched/altered, then they will do a great job. I took one of my blouses to another shop and they immediately turned me away saying that they could not make the adjustments. But Mohinder's tailor was able to do it and she did a good job. Aside from stitching and alterations, the boutique itself is packed with nice Indian blouses, dresses and sarees. They vary in style, quality and price. Most things are not very grand and top-quality, but that's pretty standard for Indian shops around the Bay Area. They also had an okay selection of jewelry and other accessories. Nothing really has a price tag, so you just have to ask Mohinder how much each item costs. Overall, I recommend Maya's Fashion if you are looking to get a blouse stitched or altered. I had a wonderful experience at Maya's Fashion. I was having a really hard time finding a tailor to stitch a blouse for an upcoming wedding. I went to places in Dublin that were very overpriced. One place said that the "labor shortage" was hiking up their prices. Maya was reasonable and fast and I think the quality of the stitching is perfect. I'm mostly excited because I've found a new tailor for alterations and stitching. read more

It's tough to find good tailor in the Bay Area. I order saree online and call many boutiques in Fremont and Milpitas area for blouse stitching but they didn't want to stitch from scratch. This boutique did for me and Mohinder ( owner ) did minor adjustments right there. Prices are very reasonable. Maya's Fashion is one of those places you can go to get Indian clothing and accessories. It's one of the few (if not the only) one stop shop in the Bay Area. I had to get a pair of juttis (Indian shoes), and Maya's was the only place to carry them. The selection is small, but pretty good. I was lucky enough to get what I wanted, although you might have trouble getting your size - I didn't see too many shoes on display - although she may have had some in the back. Mohinder at Maya's Fashion saves the day!!!! I was super disappointed in the way my NYE dress fit and was going to settle for the way it "hung" on me. It definitely wasn't going to do my figure any justice. By chance I thought I'd search Yelp for an alteration place open on NYE Sunday...Fat chance, I thought. I went with my husband here to buy Kurtis, but after going there, what i found is no Kurtis at all. The shop is very small and not well maintained. No person were present there to take care of the customers. In-fact when i went there no one even bother to ask you. Later i myself started searching for dresses. If I could give negative stars I would. I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before I went there. Absolutely unprofessional! The lady who runs a stitching center does not know much about salwar kameez. Especially the trendier stuff. She knows only basic regular old fashioned salwar stitching. I had a few pieces that were trendy send as gift from an online store. She could not identify how to stitch them even after showing the pics and I had to pointout to her that it was a different style and give her ideas on how to stitch.But if this was the only issue I would not have been concerned so much. This lady is absolutely rude, and does not handle a tailoring business professionally. As agreed with her, I called her back two days later to find out the price of stitching and she mistook me for another customer. She had my phone number as I had texted her a pic of the style I wanted. She told on me phone that I was supposed to come into the store the day before - the way she handled the conversation was way off. She threatened to show video footage when I repeatedly told her that she is not referring to me. And finally when she realized her mistake after about 5 mins of horrible conversation, she apologized. She told me she could not meet the tailor. She contracts the stitching out. She does not communicate regularly with her tailor. After two days, she called me back from the tailors place and I told her the style I want, but no updates on the price. I waited several weeks for an update from her on the price and if it's feasible as she said it could cost more because it's not the usual style. I had specifically asked her not to start stitching until we agreed on the price. Then today, after 4 weeks, she texts me, saying she got an update from the tailor. So I tell her I will take the material back and I don't need stitching even before she quotes the price and she says her tailor has already cut the salwar kameez! Wow. She says the price and asks me if I want it stitched or not. Iam in the middle of an appointment and she wants an immediate response. No other tailor will stitch the salwar kameez when somebody has already cut it. She is leaving me no choice. What an unethical place. I would recommend that you avoid this place as much as possible. read more
