I actually really liked this restaurant that Mark suggested! Generous portions at a price point that was not too expensive! Got to take home as leftovers and it made for a good, filling meal at work. Service was good as waiter made sure that we saw everything on the menu as there were more than a couple of pages. Waiter also made sure to refill the chips and dip appetizers. They were quick enough and not disruptive to our table conversations I also love the plants that are all over the restaurant because it makes for a more fresh atmosphere that is unlike other Mexican restaurants that I have been to. Honestly, I'm not a hater But I ordered takeout a large nacho supreme and added Carne Asada for 8.95 At first, I thought they forgot to put the steak on it, but then I found some it was extremely minimum and it was such a small amount, it was enough for me to want to leave a Yelp message. I was a little scared to come here because of all the negative reviews, but we risked it. The atmosphere is amazing, it's clean and appealing. I saw reviews about flies, I had no fly interactions on my visit. We ordered 2 of the combo meals; one included a taco, burrito, and chimichanga while the other included a taco, tamale, and chimichanga. Both plates came with beans and rice, the one with the burrito came with sour cream too. I wouldn't say it's the most AMAZING dish ever (but to be fair I was spoiled in Florida) but it's one of the better places in Washington. It is a bit pricy and a bit dry but next time I'll ask for more sour cream and maybe a sauce and it'll all be squared away. The workers were SO SWEET. I average once a month here at the Mayan, largely because it is familiar, and the service is usually spot on. Ask for 'Maria' in the bar area. She ROCKS! Of course it starts with the complimentary chips and salsa. Then a cold iced tea. Then the entree, typically the Arroz Con Pollo or the street tacos. Sides of rice and refried beans with nearly every dish. Prices are reasonable, typically about a $30 ticket after tip. Lots of parking, accessible entrance. Run! If you live any where south of Washington you will be disappointed. The price, the flavor and the quality are not there. I know prices are higher in the PNW but at least make it worth it. It is not the cleanest place, and the giant flies didn't help for sure. My husband and I were amazed at how bad the food was. The food was ex good, until 20 minutes after our meal I got very nauseous and had food poisoning from the shredded beef for over 24 hours. Thankful I didn't share the beef with my son, I can't remember the last time a meal made me this sick. read more

This was the worst Mexican food we have had in years. The staff was friendly. But the food was soooo salty and not seem to be made with any care. We should have complained and not paid for at least the Arroz Con Veggies. Totally gross. My husband didn't even eat a quarter of it and said it wasn't worth taking home. I guess I have on thing positive to say about the Mayan....our experience last night has finally moved me and my family to be serious about not eating out as much. They get one star for that. My fiance and I ate here last night. We had two beers, two drinks, small nachos, and polla ala crema. Our bill without tip was 81.00! One margarita was 18.50 and it was not good. It didn't have much alcohol in it and tasted off. The nachos clearly sat under the hot lamp while other food was being cooked as by the time they came out, the cheese was congealed and the chips were a soggy mess. The chicken in my dish was tough and overcooked. The most palatable thing on the table was the basket of chips. Hard to mess that up. Service was not great - the gal who sat us and refilled our chip basket was downright sour. I tried to smile and offer pleasantries and she never warmed up. She seemed very grouchy. Overall, mexican food is supposed to be the cheaper option when eating out as the ingredients are not overly expensive (rice, beans, tortillas) but this place was more expensive than nicer restaurants in the area. That took approximately 3 plus minutes. After another 3 plus minutes, chips started to arrive w 4 small salsa servings. Salsa ran dry quickly and were not refilled. My main criticism is with the food. The serving of meat was scant, smothered in carrots and celery. That's right. Carrots and celery which was camouflaged with a few onions and peppers. Jose was bartending, as I was by myself and normally sit at the bar to leave tables for larger groups. Jose was extremely friendly and made my time here enjoyable. I ordered the Enchiladas Guadalajara in Chixken (2) and was more than enough food for me. Especially with the excellent chips and salsa to start off with. Bottom line: it's a good place to "scratch the itch" for some Mexican cuisine. The guacamole was okay, the chips seemed fresh, and the salsa had the right amount of kick. The service could be a little better but overall not bad. Venue: this is the store right off the I5 highway. There's two entrances, one is to the bar and the other is to the restaurant. The restaurant part is a bit dated but you're not there to look at wall papers. It has enough space for some large parties but mainly for parties for four or less. Food: the carnitas tacos were good. Although, the corn flours were advertised to be fried and crispy.. it was not that. The rice was okay and nothing really to write home about. The chips were okay as well. Our first basket seemed a little bland but a little bit of salt takes care of that. Second basket with guacamole was good. Can't really say I recommend it but you can give it a shot if you're feeling it. Service: very cordial and friendly. The women who are servers at the bar. The blonde older server to be exact was so rude speaking in Spanish about how "my friend only came to order one drink really?" And she also told me Tequila Patron shots were $4.50 during lunch hour and i said ok I'll take one now and one later. By the time I got my bill was $45 or more just for myself. 2shots of Tequila Patron were $12.50 each. One Pepsi and one chicken taquitos meal was $45. However I think a case study should be conducted on how this place is still open or has the amount of customers (victims) it normally does! The food was AWAFUL! We only took a few bites and decided it was in our stomachs' best interest to to checkout and leave. The chips, salsa and queso were mid (however, I honestly haven't had good chips and salsa anywhere in Washington). The chicken was rubbery and looked like it was bought at from Costco and warmed up, and the rice and beans were Panera Bread bland! Then to slap salt into the wound the total was a smooth $55 before the tip. Which even for Washington state is outrageous for subpar food. Additionally restaurant is dilapidated and in need of a renovation or touch up. The staff was slower than Christmas in January and as hospitable as stepping on legos barefooted. I was a little annoyed because I had checked into yelp and as a first time visit, it came with a 10% discount off your meal. When I asked about it, our server, who was apparently also the manager said they would not honor the discount because he was not aware it was on yelp. I showed it to him on my phone and then he marked it as used so I wasn't able to use it at a later time, but after discussing it with him, he finally honored the discount and it was applied to our total for about $7 off. On Sunday October 17, 2021 our Server was not overly friendly but did give the attention needed without being invasive. Our orders were sizzling hot and fresh as I did get Steak Fajita's and Jeff ordered the three taco combo. We enjoyed the chips and salsa while we waited for our meals. Nice sized restaurant with ample parking. I think we got there just after noon. Shortly after we had arrived many people were being seated and or picking up take out orders. You rarely find two of any establishment in Lacey, it's just not that populated yet. This Mayan is located right off of I 5 in the newly developed Hawks Prairie shopping district. The food is good, but standard, Mexican fare. The drinks mostly likely were created to appeal to the venturous Lacey-ian that hasn't discovered better watering holes. They are ultra sweet, preservative packed, alcohol lite drinks on the drink special menu. This isn't a place to rouse your tequila senses, quite the opposite. The food tasted like good and standard Mexican cooking, nothing more, nothing less. The restaurant was not crowded for lunch and the service was good. My Unsolicited Suggestion... Wanted a change for dinner so decided to try the Mayan. We won't be going back anytime soon. The servers tried really hard but they're crippled by the kitchen. It started ok. Quick service for drinks and salsa almost immediately served. Then it went downhill fast. The chips are stale and the salsa is flavorless. I ordered a vegetarian burrito and was handed a fajita. So I requested a remake to what I wanted which should be easy. I was served a seafood burrito not vegetarian. That's not even close and it's a good thing I'm not allergic! My spouse ordered beef nachos. The beef was flavorless and tasted like had been sitting under a warmer for a few days. The wait staff were great, and felt bad for the mistakes but the kitchen just wasn't up to par! The restaurant needs a good cleaning. There was NO broth... with mess was more like a stew and at that it tasted like Cambel's canned tomato soup warmed up and tossed in there. When I went to taste the soup i could taste the rust from the can, GROSS!!! Then they brought me my fajitas and my first scoop of the meat and veggies, came out with a long thick black hair from, I'm sure the cooks girlfriend that works the registers , cause the cook was bald.
