Food was decent. Not as flavorful as other Mexican restaurant I've had before. There were only maybe 6 customer. I still had to flag a worker down to get an alcoholic beverage. Also, Didn't get water refill. I dined in and order food to go, spent about $90. I asked for some hot sauce to go, register lady said she already put hot sauce inside the bag. So believed her, but when I got home there wasn't any hot sauce! Why lie? Why you being shady with $.50 hot sauce when I spent $90 on my damn meal? Not coming back to this establishment. read more

I have to say I was very happy with this order! I ordered my lunch via DoorDash and spent $18 including tip for three tacos. I have never tried cochinita pibil so I decided to try and was pleasantly surprised! It's citrusy marinaded pork, pickled onions and refried beans. Not spicy at all, but a flavorful melt in your mouth taco that was very good. I liked that the asada tacos were very fresh, I could tell because the meat was very crispy. No huge fat chunks like other tacos in the area, and I love that I was given the option for mild or hot salsa. I love tacos but extra spicy salsa is something my tummy doesn't agree with. We were sat right next to the door on a cold day, it was also pretty empty in there. I would've asked for a new table, but they are really fast to bring out chips and salsa! Our waistress was super nice. Another worker kept checking on us as well. Great customer service! We got Steak Fajitas-Not a lot of meat, mostly onions Good flavor! Enchiladas A La Crema-Very Good! Piña Coladas-Not creamy, more of a slushy $5 during Happy Hour! Beans were pretty salty. Lots of lime in the guacamole & salsa. They also charge a $1 for a to-go box. I still think the food is delicious here, whether you want breakfast burritos or a great variety of menu items for lunch or dinner. But... price increases make me pause, especially when I can pay the same price for a sit-down meal in a restaurant, as opposed to sitting at an outdoor table or taking my food home. Service is always friendly and efficient. Both English and Spanish speaking employees. Ambience? It's a food truck. The truck is colorful and they have two outside tables but you're right next to Marvin Rd with all the traffic noise. We've driven past this place for a while and decided to check it out. They do serve alcohol and don't charge for Chips and Salsa. We opted for Pozole, Birria Burrito, and a Birria Quesadilla. The pozole was served with my desired toppings. Some places serve it with lettuce, I prefer cabbage. Some also serve it with Oregano, I prefer Cilantro. The others enjoyed the Birria Burrito and Quesadilla, but did say they like the Birria at another spot we frequent. The waiter was attentive and eager to provide good service. They have a nice mural on the wall. They do have an extra charge if you pay with card. We will return. read more

I have driven by here so many times. I am kicking myself for not coming here sooner. The staff were so kind and the food was chef's kiss. My husband even said the food here "feels so homemade" almost as if family recipes are being made in the kitchen. The Birria tacos were so yum and my fajitas were so flavorful. I even asked for a skinny marg cause it was just one of those days and it was perfect! This place will definitely be on the rotation of must have dinners for us. I order the birria plate , you have to order the consumé by itself it doesn't come with it , but it wasn't that expensive. Too me the picture didn't match the food so that was a little uh.. yeah but it's okay. The rice was decent , and beans was okay. I have been seeing them as I drive by doing gig work and decided to try. Mainly because I wanted to try birria. I got the birria burrito. It was massive! I only ate half there. The consome was amazing. It added a richness of flavor that I quite enjoyed. My wife got their Cielo Mar Y Tierra. It had some good flavor she said. I tried a couple of bites and had to agree. The only downsides were she only got three shrimp, and there was a ton of grease on the plate. Their salsa is amazing. Better than I've had in many places recently. For dessert we got the fried ice cream. It was a VERY large portion, but tasted amazing. One downside for me is we were constantly hearing the door chime go off. Probably my favorite Mexican restaurant this side of the Narrow Bridge. Great service every time. I usually get the carne asada street taco combo platter with rice and beans or Burris tacos with consume. Both pack a lot of flavor but also a lot of oil. The tortilla for the street taco often falls apart due to the oil which would be my only negative. I also recommend the margaritas, great sizes and a ton of flavors to chose from. If you want some serious heat ask for the habanero salsa 10/10. I would buy it as a stand a line if they bottled it. read more

Food was amazing! I got the Green Wet Burrito with some rice and beans on the side. My husband got the quesabirria. He rates it a 9/10! I rate my burrito a 1000/10. It was amazing. I grew up in the south my whole life and ever since moving up to Washington, a lot of Mexican spots were hit or miss, and I'd typically tell what type of place it is based on the rice and beans. Be prepared to wait - our food took entirely too long from when we finished ordering. There was two other tables occupied and when we asked why is the order taking long? Waiter said they have other customers. There was a total of 10 people including us inside that restaurant. Bottom line, I don't think the answer for waiting almost 45 minutes is justified. I don't like leaving one star reviews so I'll leave two. I can't fathom how difficult it is to understand what a burrito with only bean, rice and cheese is. I got home and found a to-go tray with bean, rice and cheese in it with a tortilla on the side. If I wanted to wrap my own burrito I would have said as much. My wife ordered a burrito and we paid extra for avocado and they didn't put avocado in it. I don't know what it is about restaurants in Hawks Prairie but they seem to be incapable of understanding simple requests. Maybe the appeal of saving a few pennies and charging a little extra is more important than having a repeat client, but if they would have taken care of us we would have been back many times since they are literally right down the road from us. Sadly, I so wanted to like this place because it's in my neighborhood & they are a friendly, family business which I want to support. IMO there are lots of people who don't care about SALT or sugar content in their food. I wish they did because it will haunt them later. I wanted to try the Burria burrito & taco's that comes with the consomme because it looked tasty. Unfortunately, it was like ingesting a saline solution ! The saltiness was just over the top. I haven't had takeout food that salty in a long time. (Pattaya Thai is another high salt place I had a similar experience with in the past. ) The flavors & tenderness of the beef were good enough but the amount of salt ruined it for me & I couldn't eat any of it. As a cook, I understand the need for adequate salt to marry the flavors but there's no need to use it excessively especially considering your varied customer base. People can add salt if they want whereas once it's in you can't take it away! read more
