Ventured back into this brightly colored restaurant in downtown Olympia. The service was incredible - fast and efficient. The decor reminded me of a southwest authentic restaurant with and accentuated flair. We got the chimichangas with Al pastor. There were nice chunks of pineapple throughout - true, authentic Al Pastor. The rice was amazing too. They gifted us a horchata and pineapple juice drink (again MORE chunks of pineapples!). Me and my coworker had a work trip in Olympia, and we wanted to find a good lunch place. We found this place and it had good reviews so we went to try it out. The restaurant is very vibrant place. Lots of great decor. We went a little bit after lunch hour so it wasn't busy at all. We got sat down quite quickly and got our waters and chips and salsa. I had ordered the chicken fajitas with flour tortilla, and the chicken was very well seasoned. While we were waiting for the food, our waiter had asked if we liked spicy sauces and I do but my coworker did not. He came back and gave us two different spicy sauces to try out and that was really fun to taste. I ended up using one of the spicy sauces for my fajitas, which made it even more tasty. read more

I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, it missed the mark for me. I asked for my drink blended, but it came out on the rocks. When I pointed it out, it wasn't corrected. The ceviche didn't taste fresh, which is always disappointing when you're expecting bright, zesty flavors. I also had to send back the michelada--their house mix tasted overwhelmingly like soy sauce, which just didn't work. On the bright side, the burrito was actually pretty tasty. It was well-seasoned and satisfying, and honestly the highlight of the meal. Overall, the service was polite but not very attentive, and the food/drinks were hit or miss. I wanted to love this place. It's beautiful inside! They staff are mostly nice. BUT... They need more meat. Flattest enchiladas and tacos I've ever seen. The first time I went was with family. One of my cousins went to a kid's birthday party after our lunch and ended up eating again because she was still hungry. :( So the next time I came, I tried a burrito. They looked heartier in the pictures. Why were there crunched up tortilla chips in it?!?! This is my daughters' favorite Mexican restaurant in Olympia. Everything is authentic, tasty and it is easy to get something made vegan. This is the only place where my kids actually order off of the kids menu. Instead of cheese on a tortilla or chicken nuggets, there are substantial, nutritious and tasty food options. My husband is a big fan of the vegetarian burrito and he is from Texas. Service and drinks are exceptional. My husband is a michelada connoisseur and he rates theirs as "top tier". read more

My husband and I have been here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. It is a nice space with a bar and plenty of tables and booths There are at least two TVs as well. Variety of food on the menu and plenty of drink options. Our waiter Kevin was friendly and attentive. Our food came out quickly. We have ordered the taquitos, the birria tacos, a bowl with al pastor and a chimichanga. Everything was good, my husband just wished the chimichanga was crispier. Don't know if it was the times of day we went, but it was never SUPER busy in there, so you are almost guaranteed to get a table right away. Only street parking, but it is free after 5pm. read more

I would give this place 4 stars if they bothered to garnish with pickled veggies or cilantro. I really like the Chile Relleno and any of the Margaritas are good. Even the house Margarita is decent. Most places use just a sloppy mix, but they bother to squeeze lime juice and add Tajin to the room of the glass and it just tastes better. They have homemade house tortillas that are corn and they're very good. I'm tired of Mexican restaurants that serve stale chips and watery salsa and I will say that they could do a lot to improve their salsa here too. It tastes OK, but it's very watered down. read more

We ordered the jalapenos for appetizer and al pastor tacos. The tacos hardly were seasoned, they needed lime and I would have asked for salt honestly. My drink was decent. The jalapenos were charred nicely however it was like bacon bits on top and the cream cheese was cold inside. We were the only ones there during dinner time which was interesting. Upon walking in I fell in love with the papel picado and the giant Catrina mural behind the bar. I loved the overall ambiance. We ordered the queso fundido to start with and I ordered the pitaya & it was delicious. For an entree we had the ceviche and the signature carne asada. Thank you for solidifying that I will never be back here, and for letting the world know how rude you are, I wouldn't expect anything else from an owner that buys bacon bits. Do you honestly think people are going to read your comment and say "oh, I have to try this place!" Maybe you should spend more time fixing things in your restaurant, and less time writing ridiculous comments to people's honest reviews. Get over your ego. You should care if people have a bad experience, not pick apart what happened and try to put the short comings of your restaurant on the customer. The problems I had seem common in your establishment, based on other reviews. Your servers are awful. Your cooks are inconsistent. Your beer is flat. You buy cheap products. I don't know how you expect to be successful with these issues. REVIEW: What an awful experience. A Mexican restaurant that doesn't serve chips and salsa should be required to put a sign on the door. They didn't even have it on the menu to order, so weird. The whole menu was weird, all it had was quesadillas and birria. We ended up ordering two different beers and the stuffed jalapeños. Both beers were gross and flat. The jalapeños I was worried they'd be too spicy but I tried one and it was fine, they had scraped out all the seeds. It still wasn't good tho, the bacon in it was pre cooked bacon from a bag that tasted old and the cream cheese was cheap. I was starving though so I bit into the second one and my whole mouth and throat instantly was on FIRE. I'm so glad we didn't order more food because if you can't even consistently clean out jalapeños, I have no hope for the rest of the food. Three minutes later I'm puking flat beer and nasty bacon bits in their bathroom. I'm visibly not doing well. Well..... I have to say I was not impressed! Ambiance was ok, it's was beautiful and colorful as you would expect. The service was mediocre. The wait to be seated was only a few minutes but the restaurant was almost empty so kind of a damper. When seated we didn't get the always delicious chips and salsa right away like most Mexican restaurants we actually had to wait until after we ordered for them to bring them out. I do have to say the salsa was wonderful but probably the most flavorful thing we had... unfortunately. As far as our entree's... my wife ordered the tortilla soup which was exactly that a bunch of tortilla and a little soup with noooo flavor or spice! I had the Birria taco's which are a simple taco in my mind but this was very different. The consomé was tasteless and the shells had a cinnamon flavor to them.... NOT what I would expect. My boyfriend and I decided to try Casa Catrina even though someone had told me that the food wasn't good. We decided to try this restaurant to decide for ourselves. My bf ordered the carne asada which he liked and I ordered a chicken burrito. The burrito had very little meat, broken pieces of chips ( the chips that come with salsa). We NEVER complain but we asked them about it and they made another one. The burrito was gross, inedible, and I would never go back to this place everrrrrrrr! The service was good and staff was friendly but the burrito was horrible . Chips and salsa were good but I won't recommend or go back to this place. Seriously need to change the cooking. read more

Came here for the first time and really enjoyed it. Clean, festive decor, speedy service and welcoming ambience. The menu is well curated and I especially appreciated the clear gluten free indicators. The guacamole was very tomato heavy but still tasty. The shrimp al pastor tacos were fresh, delicious, and a unique flavor combo I haven't found elsewhere. Husband really liked the birria ramen and well-balanced mojito. The portions were on the smaller side, but each item was fairly affordable. Definitely the best Mexican we've found in Olympia so far - let's keep this business open! read more
