I've come to Maya Moon a few times to do some remote work. There are quite a few plugs by tables inside & a lovely outdoor patio if you have a laptop with decent battery life. They make their own teas & they are so delicious. The staff can recommend a tea based on how you're feeling that day & they are always spot on. Also, they make this tahini cacao chip cookie that is gluten free & maple sweetened that I made them look up the ingredients to prove they are not made with crack, they are so addictive (no crack or nut flours for the nut allergen/sensitive crowd!) And of course, the cacao drinks. They are made with water but are still creamy? Not like your standard super sweet hot chocolate, but pleasantly sweet but still pleasantly bitter. Of course, you can get it made with milk & a marshmallow because heck yeah, but the standard ceremonial presentation is still quite delicious & lovely. The vibes are impeccable. Really cute coffee spot with available street parking! I went here because I wanted to find a new place that was quiet where I could get some work done. The inside was decorated very nicely and gave a cozy, plant, modern vibe. I really liked the ambiance upon walking in. The coffee here was pretty decent, just a bit overpriced but taking into account that I stayed for a few hours working - not bad. The workers were all very friendly and the tables were all cleaned. Have you ever walked into a space and instantly fell in love? I will this exactly what happened. We were greeted by a beautiful smile behind the counter. She ordered everything she suggested: Lox toast and Hot Cacao Flight with the homemade marshmallows. Interior was decorated so creatively. I just wanted to grab my laptop and work there all day. We opted for an outdoor table for sunshine and fresh air. The Cacao Flight was delivered within 5 minutes and the Lox toast followed shortly after. Since the flight was piping hot, we started with the toast. The crusty bread was perfect. The ratio of Lox was to bread was on point. After we devoured the toast we sipped on the Cacao flight. I love how each was so different. My favorite was the Moonlight which was on the bitter side. My friend liked the Aphrodisiac. That honey marshmallow elevated the experience. What I loved most about the flight was it wasn't sweet. I tend to not order hot cocoa because of how sugary it tends to be. We really enjoy everything about this place. Great vibes all around. Absolutely cute spot. Everything about here screams calming, good energy, healing with a splash of hippie. It's a spot I would come back to work and vibe out at. It's on the corner of Adams so lots of foot traffic but I came on a Sunday afternoon around 2pm and it was only a quarter full with people working, chatting, and even one person taking a nap on the sofa. There's a back patio area if you prefer to soak up the sun. There's also a small table in the window seal. Tons of plants draped all over the place. Some are decoration and some are for sale. The front counter is right there as you enter and the menu is a little off to the right. There are a handful of coffee options and I would say the majority of the items available are mood boasters or drinks to help you focus. They don't say which ones are which and so I had to ask about each one. I went with the Golden Drinking Cacao (V) which had... Ecuadorian cacao, coconut milk, ginger, turmeric, and date sugar. I thought about adding a shot of espresso but decided not to. I think the drink was interesting. A little bitter because of the cacao but the other notes came through clearly. Overall, didn't really hit but also I was in the mood for caffeine so I was bound to be disappointed. Although I think the drink was meh (mostly because I was there for caffeine) I absolutely would come back because the vibes were off the charts. The bread was delicious and didn't fall apart which is extra special for gluten free bread. Overall the sandwich left something to be desired. I'd order those drinks again. My mind felt so clear and focused after. They definitely use high quality cacao here & have created great drinks from them. I'll have to come back to try their desserts! It's not everyday you find a cafe specializing in cacao drinks that stays open late. I love that you can get a decadent, caffeine-free option for when you want to get out of the house and chat in the evening after dinner. I had the mind + body cacao and added marshmallows. Marshmallows are the *fancy* kind and it's a whopping $2 per order, and the cacao drinks are $8 so it is a spendy little treat. But the cacao is high quality and rich, basically a non-sweet drinking chocolate. I also do think the honey marshmallows are worth it. My husband had the aphrodisiac cacao, and honestly I preferred his so much more over mine. I normally like floral flavors, but the lavender was way too overwhelming in the mind + body drink and it had a gritty texture. I think florals in food should be more balanced and not so in-your-face. The aphrodisiac cacao is pleasant all the way through. The cafe is actually pretty big, and at night they bring candles over to the tables and dim the lights, which was nice. I would most likely revisit. read more

NEW STUDY SPOT! Vibes are sooo chill here and the drinks are unique and great! Stumbled upon this cafe while walking around the Adam's avenue street fair that was taking place today. This cafe is serving up cacao drinks mixed with adaptogens and other fun stuff, lattes, elixirs, and much more. I had the pleasure of being served up by Jungle (yes that's his name) and Juslene (Justine with an L) and they broke down the menu for me as it was my first visit. They provided some recommendations and I opted for the sun latte, which came with tumeric, cinnamon, ginger, lions mane, and panela which are Mexican brown sugar cubes. I added two shots of espresso to my drink and it was delightful! There are plenty of seats with outlets and the noise level is perfect for studying. Some cafes that I've been to lately are too loud and aren't ideal, but this place has a comfortable noise level. The store is filled with luscious plants everywhere that bring an inviting feel! I only had a coffee drink here so I can't speak to the food, but I got to add some infamous ashwaganda which I thought was funny based on how it's trending so much on TikTok. Inside, there were few people there so it was great to work from the outside seating on a sunny day. I couldn't find the WiFi very easily and the staff didn't really know either. The vibe is clean, airy, and very yogi-like from the staff. The girl who was helping us out was so sweet and took her time answering our questions as it was our first time trying these sort of drinks. The drinks are an acquired taste. I was expecting them to be a bit sweeter but they are veryyyyy veryyyy bitter. No sweetness whatsoever. My boyfriend had one sip of his drink and couldn't drink it. The honey marshmallows are so good and taste natural. The cacao is more like liquidy melted chocolate rather than a typical American hot chocolate you'd think of. What an awesome place to go get some awesome healthy beverages. Have been here over a dozen times, and to some classes put on my other groups. So fun and refreshing to get a nice hot cacao even on a hot day. LOL They have great desserts and cater to all crowds, vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, and you have a choice to sit in the patio behind or inside. Bathroom are clean and spacious for the 2 they have. The only downside and no fault of theirs, is the Adam Ave parking debacle. Which will never go away, if you get lucky seeing someone pulling out within a half mile radius grab it quickly otherwise you will drive around for 30 more minutes wondering why you didn't take it. :-) read more

I'm happy this gem is in the Normal Heights neighborhood. We dropped by as we were in the area, with live music going on in the background. They have an back patio, inside seating, and a small 2-3 tables in the front outside. I was originally curious about their chocolate, but their Nibby Horchata (V) got me. It is housemade with almonds, hazelnuts, cacao nibs, oat milk and cinnamon, and I really ENJOYED the drink a lot. They also have a selection of pastries and desserts which I ordered their famous cacao chocolate chip cookie, and 2 of their truffles - I believe it was the lavendar and orange blossom (?). The truffles were super rich. But their chocolate chip cookie = DELICIOUSNESS. Parking is street parking although they have a couple spots in the back. They have 2 bathrooms, and a beautiful interior. I can't wait to come back here to have another nibby horchata and possibly their other drinks. read more
