There are a bunch of contractors around here that will quote stupid high prices because a lot of people are paying it. Another guy quoted me $3000 to do 80 feet of tile in the tile surround. I wanted a licensed plumber for the insurance behind them but the tile I did myself. I did the entire job, after paying the plumber for $2732.54. New tub, faucet, tile and shower doors included.
