There was a crack in a part. The part was replaced on the new furnace and the water removed. Max did a great job.

I was not pointing fingers, but simply trying to determine what contractors were at fault. Gochnauer's employee Brian S. sent me the following e-mail verbatim: "I cannot believe the gall you have to even think this, let alone say this, Judd. We showed you proof the driveway was not us. And I paid for the ceiling we also did not do with proof. I let that ceiling go because it was already done. I am paying for that, personally, not the company or my guys because they didn't do it. Do not email me again." Really? This is how they treat their customers who just gave them two jobs and paid close to $10K. I will not do business again with such a thoughtless company nor should you. I called to speak to the owner today but I got a call back from the GM who never once provided an apology. Bush league company! Maybe I will dispute the last job they did since now I was told to not e-mail them again. Here is another quote from Brian S. regarding the sheetrock: "THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION. IF YOU BELIEVE THE SHEETROCK WAS TRULY DAMAGED ON SATURDAY, SOUNDS LIKE WE DID IT SINCE WE WERE THE ONLY PEOPLE THERE THAT DAY. I CAN HAVE SOMEONE TAKE CARE OF THE SHEETROCK IF YOU AGREE." - So he owns up to doing it in this quote but then says he didn't do it later. As for the driveway, it was recently poured and damaged during the install. It was done by either the HVAC company, spray foam company or ductwork install crew. Nobody will own up to it. Contractors around Bluffton have a bad reputation for a reason. Be careful who you choose.

Their cost was much lower than the competitors. I was told by another company that I needed much more extensive work than I actually did. Howell-Chase was honest and had integrity. I will always call them for my AC and heating needs from now on. I absolutely love my UV sterilization that was installed . My immune system is low and this has absolutely helped with dust and mold. I highly recommend it!

If you are considering buying a new unit from Howell-Chase, I urge you to read this review in its…read moreentirety. AFTER our system was installed in June, the gentleman in charge of the installation informed us that he did not have the door for the filter but that when they came out to do the service they would bring and install the door. He then had the entire filter area plastered over, cutting off any access to the filter. I have been told, but have not verified, that you must be able to readily access the filter area and that this plastering may have been in violation of the Code. When we replaced our flooring in July, we called our salesman (Rodney Somma) and asked if they could install the door as we were going to need to change our filter earlier than anticipated. We were then informed that not only did they not have the door, they were also unable to get one. Rod let us know that we had two options, 1) purchase a different type of filter for a price of $900+ or install a permanent filter at a price of $3,000. When my husband attempted to contact the owners to resolve this issue, the call was re-directed to Rod who assured us that he was going to fix it. His answer was to send a technician to cut a hole in the plaster and insert a 1" filter. The filter was covered with an access door that can only be described as the first try of a sixth-grade metal shop project (see attached). At the time I again asked the technician to have the owners call me; to date they have not done so. The four other Trane units we have purchased in the past were all installed with an industry standard 4" filter in a factory-built cabinet. We expected this would be as well. Our mistake. Howell-Chase installed high-end air quality accessories that were the most profitable, UV light and Ionizers, while ignoring the most effective, a high quality 4" filter. I am not going to tell you not to buy a Trane because we fully believe that they are the best unit on the market today. I am not going to tell you not to use Howell-Chase because they are a certified dealer with Trane. I am, however, going to strongly suggest that you make sure you ask them if they have ALL the necessary parts prior to installing the unit. Our unit works great; however, I sincerely believe that when you spend $23,000.00 on something it should be perfect with no needed "up-sales" or leave you wanting for an item as inexpensive as a 4" filter. Additionally, the fact that they did not have the door was known to Howell-Chase prior to the installation of this unit. In my opinion, and it is only my opinion, if you install a unit when you knew, or should have known, that you did not have a necessary part, or that the part was unavailable, it is unconscionable.
