Do not go here. They don't know what they're doing and they overcharge for services that were not even performed correctly.

I love the way my nails are done, every time I go. No complaints. They last, they look great. So happy. xo

I was in on Tuesday and it is currently Monday when I'm writing this so it has been less than a week and I paid $65 for a full set, I have been very gentle and I have been walking around with them literally popping off. I have 3 nails remaining meaning I have lost 7 of my nails in 6 days. I have called back two times and gotten laughed at for expecting them to fix them and the last time I called I was hung up on. To add to this when she was filing my nails two popped off and she proceeded to just glue them back on and big surprise, those were the first nails to pop off. I am extremely unhappy with my experience at this nail salon and do not recommend this salon to anyone looking for nails to last more than 4 days. read more

I am here sitting in the salon admiring my toes (they really needed it). This is the place I come when I no longer willing to do it myself. I love that May remembers me each time despite the long spans before I return. I am always invited to pick a color to which I am always redirected to a better color and it always works! I appreciate the time they spend cleaning to ensure the Wellspring chair and basin are clean before and after each customer. It is a spa feel even if you only want a quick service. Attention to details and friendly staff are why I keep coming. Btw, Prepare to be called "honey" a lot! read more

At one time May Nails was great. However, they now only have two employees. They charge more and they give you less in service & product used. Never have I had a pedicure where soft soap antibacterial hand soap was squirted in the water for the pedicure. May left out a lot of things they used to do, like lotion on my hands and arms with a massage followed by the hot towel with lavender. I had to ask for that. Sorry to say, while nice people, their service has gone downhill. I won't go back. read more

Would not recommend. I've never been to a nail salon where they use antibacterial soap for pedicures.

Really like this place! It was my first experience in North Carolina. I got the dipped French manicure and it is far different than how it is done in Maryland. But the outcome was the same! I defiantly recommend this nail spot! read more

May Nails is the best overall nail salon I have been to in a long time. It's only $10 for a manicure and $30 for a manicure and pedicure. Not only do they do a great job, but everyone who works there is nice and makes the overall experience the best I've had. If you are in a hurry though, make sure you tell them because otherwise you could be there over an hour because they take their time to do such a good job. You can ask them to do the manicure and pedicure at the same time if you want to get done faster. read more

I just moved back to Wake Forest from Seattle, and my digits were way overdue for pampering. In Seattle, the standard nail salon charges around $45 for a mani-pedi; however, I was lucky to find a volume-oriented salon that was the neatest, nicest nail salon I had been to and that featured a $27 mani-pedi deal. Score! But I digress... I tried May Nails since I was going alone and really was focused on getting a better value. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. Atmosphere: The nail salon appears clean, though it does not use the sanitary liners for the pedicure tubs that my old one did. Other than that, it looks like any old nail place. There are no lingering odors, but there are also no decor choices that make the place feel especially nice, inviting, or special. Price: Unfortunately, this place is comparable to everyone else. In moving here, everything is cheaper - except nail salons apparently. I gave May Nails a chance based on the earlier review by Amanda. (Yes it was a bit old, but based on prior experiences places seem to not change much year to year.) Based on the other area salons online I thought it was worth a shot not to blow $37 on a simple mani-pedi. I walked in on an early Monday afternoon, and other than one woman drying her manicure it was empty. In glancing at the posted price list I realized that they had also joined the $37 club, but since I was there I just went with it anyway. Another woman came in to price a mani-pedi (she had just moved from D.C.) and commented how much more expensive it is here, so I'm not alone. The one manicurist commented that they don't run specials either. Next time I'll probably try the $5 off coupon at Amy's or the early bird 20% off special at the Walmart nail salon. Neither of those options are particularly appealing, but I guess they'll have to do. Color Selection: Your choices appear more promising than they actually are, unless you're willing to tack on an extra 25% to your costs. From the polish wall I chose my color and also selected one of those crackle polishes to try. I thought, "How cool that this is an option here? I've been wanting to try it!" I gave both bottles to the woman and sat down. It wasn't until I was wet and mid-pedicure that the manicurist said it would be an upcharge of $5 per set of nails (read: $10 total) to add crackle. WHAT?! I don't mind the upcharge on getting french done since god knows that takes a certain skill set, but for one more thin layer of polish, really? If you're doing that there should be a sign or it should be listed with the other prices - or at least mentioned as you're sitting down. By that point I was also stuck with this garish pink color on my nails, because I could not get up and browse for a new color. How irksome! (Side note: I stopped by Target and paid $6 for a whole bottle of crackle polish and smacked it on my own nails. No skill required, and it looks great!) Performance: They worked on my hands and feet simultaneously since there was nothing else to do. Personally, I prefer a more languorous one-set-at-a-time approach, but whatever. Overall the experience was mediocre. Both massages were long but pretty effortless. My toes were done nicely, and she did a great job with my calluses. My fingers had issues... The manicurist smudged 3. I ignored 2 since they were small (and I knew I would crackle them anyway), but the 3rd was about half of the thumb. She noticed and tried to fill it in with polish and then seemed put off when I requested her to re-do the thumb - you could see the distinct edge of the previous smudge and it was half of the thumb. In any case, she got huffy since the polish was being used by the pedicurist at that point and she had to wait on top of it. To top it off, when she removed the polish she got it all over the skin of my thumb - sparkly pink is so attractive that way - and made no effort to clean up after herself. At check out I had to have a different woman remove it. Payment: I guess I was spoiled in WA with how easy you can use charges (i.e. there is a tip line automatically on the credit slip.) Here I felt bad. The girl did not specify that I needed to tell her a tip in advance and then of course wouldn't run the card just for a tip... I didn't bring cash since I don't carry a full purse to the nail salon. Ultimately, I couldn't give a tip, which honestly I really only feel bad about for the pedicurist. Overall: The people are friendly and nice for the most part, but to spend that much on a mani-pedi and not feel 100% satisfied is not good. I know I'll end up at the cheaper Walmart salon (or mediocre Amy's) in the future - if I am not going to be thrilled about the final product of my nails anyway, I might as well pay less! read more

I went to the owner herself. My nails were ruined! I hated how she shaped them, when I specifically told her how I wanted them. She gave me some excuse as to why it was better her way. Ok, I tried her way. I have NO NAILS AT ALL NOW. Within a week after I got them done they were lifting, and lifting badly, so much so a couple had come off. I will not go back! read more

Making the decision to stop and try a new nail salon, ended up being a terrible experience for me. As I entered, at 5pm on a Saturday, I noticed ONE lady receiving a pedicure with 4 workers in the salon. I was told, they were busy and couldn't accommodate my mani/pedi. I asked why and they said they were very 'busy'. I asked if I should come back at a later time and they told me 'No, sorry'. This was a very sad, horrific and downright and blatant discrimination! This was by far the worse customer service I have ever received at a nail salon. When I walked in I stated I wanted a fill in for a gel set. They told me it would be a little while and if I could wait, so I did. It was a man sitting in the front behind the desk, I assume he was one of the owners. After a little while he said he would take me back to a table. So I followed him, not knowing he would be the one starting on my nails. He started taking the gel polish off that I had on my nails. His hands and nails were really nasty and dirty and he smelt like cigarette smoke. He took the polish off, but not all of it. I still had polish on my nails. After I get the polish off he brings over the powder for my fill in. I asked was that gel? And he said "no." I said "well I asked for a gel fill in." Then this lady (I believe to be the other owner) says "No you didn't ask for gel." I said I asked for a gel fill in with gel polish. She goes on to argue with me about what I asked for! After a while I just ignored her and started talking to someone else. Once the guy finished taking the polish off I had to go to the lady's table who was arguing with me. While she was filling in my nails and polishing them she was VERY rude. Pulling on my hands and arms and not to mention the horrible polish job she did. When I asked her to get the polish off the sides of my nails she stated "it will come off when you wash your hands." Needless to say I'll never go back to May Nail salon. read more
