Based on some good reviews we decided to try this place. Husband and I sat in the bar at a table. We had an app to split (Mays Potato cakes) that was SO good!! Our entrees were excellent (curry and beef stew) and the blueberry bread pudding was amazing! Drinks and Irish coffee= delicious!! We were so full, we felt like we rolled out of the place! Our server was attentive in addressing any drink glasses that were empty as we waited. When the meals arrived, they were piping hot. My friends chicken curry was excellent! Tender chicken in a slightly sweet curry. Wonderful, crispy fries! My beef stew was also excellent with a good amount of tender beef, potatoes and carrots. The biscuit on top had a perfect consistency which could hold up with the stew gravy. The small scoop of mashed potatoes was a perfect portion. Everyone enjoyed their meals and thought the menu prices were very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. Our waitress happily split our tab into separate checks and could not be more friendly and helpful. Given our overall experience I'd say it was a big disappointment due to very poor service Our receipt named our waitress this afternoon as "day bartender". No actual name was listed on the receipt. The waitress waited on us and then was pretty absent. There seem to be a ton of staff literally buzzing in and out of the room but few are engaged with the patrons. They pop in, drop food, and then they are out. Pop in, clear tables, and they are out of site. Our appetizers arrived via a food runner who dropped them and took off. We had no plates to eat them on, no waitress in site. I managed to get the attention of a different food runner and asked for plates and napkins since my napkin had fallen on the floor.'Minutes later our waitress swung through and dropped off plates, I asked for napkins. She said sure and was gone again. We finished our apps and were in need of drinks. No waitress (no napkins). In comes another food runner who drops off our entrees. She drops and runs. The food is very hot which is great except we have no drinks. We keep scanning the room trying to find out waitress. Quite some time passes, the waitress appears and approaches our table. We ask for drinks, NAPKINS and butter for my Corn Beef and cabbage. Quite some time passes, she comes back with 4 of the 5 drinks, no butter, no napkins. She says she'll be back with them....... We wait and wait.... She comes back with the last drink (no butter or napkins) after everyone else is done eating. I again ask for the butter.... I've given up on a napkin! I tore a piece off Bri's napkin just to have something! She finally brings the butter back and I put it on my cabbage and potatoes and it sits there...unable to melt in because my food is now cold, Literally cold. Since everyone else is done eating I ask for a take out container and call it a day. Disappointed in the service to say the least! Did I ever get a napkin??? Nope! Not even after asking 4 times! Would I go back here? Highly unlikely! We eat out ALL OVER the place and I've never had such lousy service which is unfortunate because it's an interesting place, but lacking in service on the dining floor. read more

May Kelly's was a total Yelp find. I'm from out of the area so I was looking for food that was good an environment that was great for kids. I sound both at May Kelly's. I was prepared for a long wait at the restaurant. They do take reservations, but had stopped to allow walk ins. We had a party of five and timed it perfectly! They had a long table in the back of the bar. The restaurant is massive and has so much character. It is a beautiful experience to come today Kelly's. I ordered the meatloaf. Our server "Nona" was very friendly and attentive as well as very knowledgeable about the menu, she made several recommendations before we placed our meal. All of the meals looked delicious, I ended up getting the Pastrami sandwich and fries, it was indeed delicious. I don't ordinarily get desert, but after our servers recommendation for the Blueberry Lemon Bread Pudding, I ordered it. It is homemade and super tasty, I highly suggest trying it. This is not your typical Irish American pub. May Kelly's is very well decorated with lots of interesting and unique colorful flair (covered wall to wall in each room and hallways) including plenty of nostalgic trinkets, signs, framed pictures, and classic old posters of Americana, a trip down Memory Lane. This is actually a good place to take the family for dinner. We stopped here for dinner after skiing and decided to sit in the bar area in the back. The place was fairly busy on a Sunday night and Irish background music was playing over the speakers. They also offer live entertainment too. Our friendly waitress promptly offered us drinks and we ordered two Diet Cokes and Guinness on draft. We were given a basket of warm oat bread and butter. For appetizers, the May's Potato Cakes ($6.50-2) were crispy brown outside and soft chunky mashed potatoes inside accompanied by fresh baby spinach and horseradish sauce. The cakes were very good tasting, but could've been warmer inside. The Traditional Stuffed Quahogs ($7.00-2) were served very hot out of the oven, with vegetable and chorizo bread stuffing, a great appetizers. For dinner, the Traditional Shepherd's Pie ($13.50) was served piping hot in a casserole dish and had ground lamb, carrots, corn, potatoes, gravy, and topped with mashed potatoes. My friend said this was one of the best shepherd's pies he's had in a while since they used ground lamb instead of the ground beef most other places use. The Irish Mixed Grille ($15.00) was an excellent sampling of meats (Irish bacon, Irish grilled sausages, black & white pudding, grilled steak tips) and served with crispy fries, baked beans, and a grilled tomato. The portion of food was pretty generous and very good. We skipped dessert and settled up on the check since it was getting late (8:15PM on a Sunday). The service was very good and friendly on this visit. The food arrived in a very timely manner after ordering, about 10 minutes for the appetizers and about 20 minutes for the entrees. Drink refills and reorders were also offered when needed. I had two refills on the Diet Coke and one pint of Guinness was enough. Overall, we had a nice dinner in a very relaxed and interesting atmosphere. The food and service is a solid 4+ stars and the unique and classic decor and pictures covering every wall in the place must be given 5 stars. read more
