It was the second time at this restaurant. Actually it's a family restaurant. It's so kind people there. They made a good sushi.

Amy D.

Meh. Ordered a lot to test it out and everything was ok. We had: General tso chicken - dry, very dry. Udon noodles - wanted more flavor Pork spare ribs app - very tough Tempura veggie app - ok. Maybe needed to be fried in a flavored oil or veggies seasoned. Not sure. Pan fried chicken gyoza - ok, not bad Steamed pork dumplings - Great! Would order again Small house salad - refreshing Hope this helps!

Spicy tuna roll and hot & soup soup
Singi D.

Had the hot & soup soup. It was temperature hot but not spicy hot. So had to add the chili paste. The meat was good in it, pork. Overall not bad for the price. The spicy tuna roll was good. I was only looking to snack today. I'll be back to try other dishes. What others ordered seemed good.

Philly Roll, fusion roll, and May Island Hako Sushi Roll. Egg drop and wonton soups
Matt A.

Only had carry out from here once so will give it another chance in the future. Again, only take out review and not a sit down review. Egg drop and wonton soup were both pretty good but we were not impressed with any of our sushi rolls whatsoever. It looked like they were poorly rolled (or pressed) but the fish did not smell or taste especially good. Again, may give this place another shot but not excited to try it

The food is reliably very good, and the prices are reasonable. Our go-to place for carryout and dine-in.

Nasime Japanese Restaurant - SEARED JAPANESE WAGYU SHOrT RIB W/ TrUFFle SHOYU

It's a delicious journey through different forms of Japanese cuisine, from raw dishes to grilled, fried, and even a comforting soup course. The setting is intimate, with just a few seats per seating, which makes the experience feel personal and unrushed. Each dish is introduced with care, offering insight into the ingredients and preparation and adding an extra layer of appreciation to the meal. We opted for the sake pairing, which complemented the courses beautifully. Standout dishes for us were the sashimi and the wagyu beef, both incredibly fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared. That said, every course was truly delicious. Nasime is a wonderful spot for a thoughtful, peaceful dinner and an especially great choice for a date night. Reservations are required through Resy, and I definitely recommend coming hungry--you'll want to enjoy every course.

To explain my review, I am most influenced by how much I enjoyed the food. It's only fair to note…read morethe menu rotates and I received a serving that I would not personally enjoy. Perhaps it was being a patron during the winter when freshness is limited. Each dish we ate I rank below: 1) poached egg w/ blue crab dashi ankake (5/10) - the egg was cold and cooled the soup once the yolk was pierced which took away from the experience for me. The crab was good and it was supplemented by this corn-like kernel that was bitter and complemented the soup well. 2) seared wagyu with truffle shoyu (8/10) - seems to be a staple. Delicious. Wish there was more truffle since some pieces weren't as covered. Slightly cold but didn't take away from the experience. 3) otsukuri (sashimi) (8.5/10) - wish this was the majority of the meal. This was the part enjoyed most. A wide variety of fish. I would've enjoyed this more if it was not all served at once. 4) spanish octopus agedashi (8/10) - very delicious though the octopus pieces were very big and some too fatty. ' 5) prime fillet mignon w/ haccho miso graze (9/10) - amazing!! our favourite dish. served on a bed of eggplant and mozz cheese. The steak was perfectly cooked. 6) maple leaf duck noodle soup (3/10) - did not enjoy this dish. The broth was not savoury and the duck was far too gamey and fatty. Fortunately, we were stuffed so didn't eat this one. 7) housemade strawberry japanese fro yo (8/10) - refreshing and delicious Cocktails - 7/10 - very limited menu. We had one of the signature cocktails and a whisky. They were both light but lacked complexity. Most of the flavour was given way by the yuzu. Atmosphere - this is where the restaurant shines and I'd recommend going for a special date. It's a very intimate setting. About 10 people can be seated every time, and I believe there are two seatings each evening (6pm and 8:30pm). You are not rushed. We had the 8:30pm seating and lingered for almost 3 hours. It was an excellent environment conducive to conversation. We sat at the bar and saw the one-man show, the chef, prepare all the food. He had a haughty energy, very focused, and unsmiling. He gave the aura of a trained culinary genius. This was nicely contrasted with the one server, a charming and smiling individual. The place is not fancy - I do think it could've been nicer - but I believe it is the most authentic Japanese restaurant you'll find in all the DMV. I would highly recommend to everyone interested in fine Japanese cuisine.

While visiting Alexandria, we decided to grab dinner at a Japanese steakhouse. After a quick Google…read moresearch, we landed on Sake Japanese Steakhouse. Now I'll be honest--when we first pulled up, it looked a little sketch. But the reviews were solid (4+ stars), so we said why not--and went for it. I had a party of 11, and we were seated within minutes, which was a huge plus! The place wasn't too crowded, a bit on the smaller side, and didn't have all the usual flair and flames you might expect from a Japanese steakhouse--but hey, we were already in, so let's go! The staff was friendly overall. Our waiter Genard really tried to keep up with our large group. He missed a few things here and there, but nothing major--overall, he did a decent job. Let's get into the food... The salad came out nice and cold, but that ginger dressing? Whew... not for me. It tasted really heavy on the mayo and overpowered the ginger flavor. I sent it back and got the ginger dipping sauce instead--and that actually worked much better! The soup was hot and fresh like it should be. It had mushrooms (not my thing), so I just pushed those to the side. Now the main event--the food was GOOD! I actually loved that they added vegetables like peas and carrots into the rice--nice little touch you don't always see. The shrimp was tender, the chicken was delicious, and I really appreciated how finely chopped it was instead of big chunks--it made it more tender and soaked up that teriyaki flavor perfectly. The vegetables were cooked just how I like them--crisp broccoli, carrots, onions... flavorful and not overcooked at all. And let's not forget the plum wine--nice, cold, sweet, and exactly what I needed after a long day running around with kids for spring break. It definitely hit the spot! And the BEST part? The pricing! Very reasonable--especially compared to Japanese Hibachi in other cities! $30 for a combo is ALWAYS a win! Overall, we had a really good time. Most of the group enjoyed their food--maybe one or two minor complaints, but nothing major. I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5. If you're in Alexandria, it's worth checking out!

The customer service of the staff outside of the cooks could be A LOT BETTER! We were originally sat at one table and was seated and ready when all of a sudden we got switched to another table which took longer for orders. Their food was very subpar compared to other Japanese Steakhouses and needs more seasoning. However it is your typical Japanese steakhouse experience! I would return for a drink and food at happy hour but would prefer another steakhouse unless I am just on the area or attending a friend/family event.

Well Yelp NOVA fam, I'm here to tell you, with a resounding "yes," it can and is, that good. Located in the Belle View shopping center off of Ft. Hunt Road, at first glance, Yido seems like it would be the nondescript cookie cutter themed Asian restaurant. There is a small waiting area/foyer when you walk in, and the interior is adorned with the usual decor of paper Japanese lanterns, fake pink cherry blossom plants, and kitschy wall art. Walked in on a Saturday at 4:30pm thinking it would be easy to snag a table...but I was mistaken. The place was PACKED. The first thing I was asked was whether I had a reservation (at 4:30pm, mind you). Having answered "no," I was escorted to dine at the sushi bar. Since it's in the name of the establishment, I ordered the tonkotsu ramen which is the benchmark by which a ramen place should be judged against. After about 5 min, the steaming bowl of noodles arrived. The dish was visually appealing as a creamy broth was the neutral palatte as yellow corn, sliced red ginger, yellow bamboo shoots, strips of black woodear mushroom, a soft boiled orange-ish egg, and green scallions added pops of color. As with any noodle soup dish, taste the broth before adding any additional seasoning such as the table side chili powder or chili oil. The broth could've been thicker, but it was very flavorful and it was evident that hours of simmering with pork bones had gone into the stock. The noodles had a nice chew without being gummy or overcooked and the slices of char siu pork had a good mix of fat to leaness. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with the meal. Service could've been more attentive. It was a Saturday night, so it was busy and I understand that. If you're stitting at the sushi bar, expect the diners seated at tables to get their water faster and for servers to check-in on them more frequently. I can definitely see myself stopping in again to try their other ramen offerings. A bowl of ramen with just water as the beverage with tax and tip was about $19.
