Pretty good food. Good drinks. Classy atmosphere. Outdoor seating is a plus in the warm months.

So it's my birthday. My husband is indulging me and we are at Trumbull kitchen. Drinks are good. Food is great but sitting at he bar and the bartender. .... Well I tried to engage her twice. Apparently I'm not worth the time and guess what she's not worth a tip. Probably won't be back for. A drink and app. Had been to max oyster. Extremely engaged staff and fun. So just will mention I had just won a 1000 dollars and was looking for some extravagance . Only spent 30 bucks. read more

The food was exceptional. The flourless chocolate cake is to die for. Our waiter was very nice and competent and gave excellent suggestions. I wish Trumbull Kitchen was in my hometown. I'd eat there often and recommend it to friends. read more

Friday nights without DJ legacy are not the same anymore but the bartenders are great.

Great to go if you're looking for a plate of brown. Almost everything is "crispy" or "baked to golden brown." The food is good, not great; it's the atmosphere that makes the place. Not sure it is worth the price, either, but you're paying for space and to "be seen" in the Hartford dining/upscale cruising scene. read more

Amazing food, great service. I was amazed to see how well my server took care of everyone when it was so busy and we were sitting at the bar tables. Amazing Friday night bar scene, great d.j. I highly recommend it.... I almost forgot, the food is amazing too! It's hard to find a combo like this. You have to try the fillet truffle tots. read more

I have always loved Max restaurants and Trumbull Kitchen was no exception. The atmosphere is sophisticated but unpretentious and invigorating but not noisy to the point where you can't hear the people at your own table. The food, drinks, and staff are excellent! I highly recommend the crab cakes, pork shank, the Moscow mule cocktail, and the ice cream sandwiches! The price is worth the fine dining and fantastic service! read more

try hldias meatloaf. Best meeatloaf ive ever tasted. better then moms. waitstaff is always helpful and very friendly. great date night spot or just a guys night great for both read more

I was pretty good food. I figured it would have been better for the price and the hype. I guess ut just seemed that they tried too hard to be "out there." Like, I wanted creme brulee as my dessert, but they didn't have vanilla like a regular place, it was corn chex flavored or something. I just thought that was weird. Still good food just... different. read more

Hadn't been to TK for a while, having had a few disappointments, but happy to say our dinner was excellent: soups, short ribs, veggie sides, dessert and our waiter's service were all very enjoyable. Place was a bit quiet for a Saturday night. Don't care for their choice of background music, but otherwise we were very pleased with dinner there, and recommend it highly. read more

Good but not great. Had the vegetarian stone pie which was good. The ice cream compote was pretty good but the cookie was very, very hard.

reason 137 why i love trumbull kitchen: i wanted to introduce mini to tk for some time now.. finally made it happen yesterday. as luck would have it, they were super busy. so busy, in fact, we waited almost 2 hours for our food (a stone pie and a burger).. apparently the kitchen couldn't find our ticket. i didn't complain (i knew we were waiting long, but hadn't realized how long). we were playing heads up and enjoying the breeze on the patio. a manager came over with a free espresso martini (my favorite drink), apologized, thanked me for being patient, and comped all the food (even the apps that had arrived in a timely manner). sure it was the right thing to do, but i especially appreciated the touch of bringing me my favorite cocktail and making the effort to correct an error without waiting for me to speak up. read more

I have never felt the need to review a restaurant on Yelp. I use Yelp constantly but never feel that my review is worth a damn. But tonight my friends and I walked to trumble kitchen and when we walked inside we were told we could not be seated. When we explained that we were more than willing to split up into any amount of grouping that was required, we were told to find room at the bar. There was no room at the bar. However there were more than ample tables available all throughout the restaurant, including 12 available seats in one corner of the restaurant easily viewable from the hostess stand. We also said that we were not in any rush and would be willing to wait a little and we're flat out told that all eight of us would not be able to be seated tonight because their kitchen was "slammed" and their servers couldn't cover any more area. I have worked in the service industry. And this was a blatant attempt to keep younger people out of their restaurant. We were all around the age of 25 and had walked to the restaurant in the rain carrying backpacks. We were from out of town and were ran out as such. If it was true that they were unable to serve us then I suggest that they hire enough people that can cover 60% occupancy, because to me that's about what it looked like. I was looking forward to eating and drinking at Trumbull Kitchen and was denied that opportunity through either the blatant lack of hiring enough people to run an entire restaurant or an intentional attempt to run us out of their restaurant. read more

Went there Saturday night, restaurant very busy almost completely full, inspite of this with our reservation,we were seated within seconds. Very efficient front end staff. We sat down party of five, ordered the fondue with bacon (outstanding), it is served with steak fries and but we preferred the bread. The mix is very rich and flavor prevails. For Main course I ordered the Hangar steak which our waitress, who was named Amanda or Alyssa, recommended. She was so nice, she has a voice identical to and looks closely like Kourtney Kardashian, we told her that and she said she gets that alot. She is very sweet and careful, when she was busy for a moment she sent another waitress over to check on us and refill drinks. We felt like we were treated exceptionally. The Hangar Steak is marinated and sliced and infused with rich flavor and tastes buttery smooth. The NY strip excellent as well. The pear salad was outstanding, not your typical salad, but again a careful assembly of contrasting flavors and textures. This is clearly a member of the Max Restaurant Group, and could be its flagship, but very reasonably priced. read more

We came here for my sister's graduation dinner. I was very impressed by the food, decor, and staff. The restaurant is beautiful and a very nice atmosphere for a fun dinner. The food and drinks were amazing (definitely save room for the chocolate fondue!) and our waiter was super friendly. One of the managers even stopped by the table to see how we were doing and stayed to chat for a bit. Overall, a great experience. The only thing keeping my review from being 5 stars is that my sister (who has a gluten allergy) ordered the spinach artichoke dip off of the gluten free menu, but it was served with pita chips. She asked our waiter to make sure that they were gluten free and he assured us the kitchen knew she couldn't have gluten. I believe it was an honest mistake because he was really careful throughout the whole meal and even made a note of which seat she was sitting in so there was no confusion. Later that night she got very sick from the gluten in the pita chips so that is why I am giving only 3 stars. read more

food is good, drinks are great. i've lived in Hartford for four years and this place is a staple. the food is good and my only knock is that the menu has been the same for four years. they change the cocktail list seasonally and it's great, would love to see the menu changed up, but if you only go once and a while, you'll love it read more

In town for a hockey game this restaurant is very convenient to the XL Center. Nice atmosphere, good service. Catherine was our server, she was attentive and courteous. The bread and "crackers " with oregano basil cream cheese was a nice way to start our experience. The crackers were described by my niece as, "if a potato chip and a taco had a baby." She also is not a cream cheese lover but enjoyed the cream cheese as well. We LOVED the grilled filet mignon appetizer. The filet melted in your mouth and the Bleu cheese fondue was excellent. We had 3 entrees. The salmon with pea puree had a very different taste and it was tasty. The BBQ pork sandwich was very good and very smoky flavored a bit of spice too, delicious! The brick pressed chicken was yummy! My daughter said, "it makes my taste buds tingle with delight!" We finished with the Carmelized banana split, excellent. Great choice if splitting dessert. Lots of ice cream with chocolate sauce, caramel, whipped cream, walnuts, bananas and candied orange peel. Can't go wrong with this. read more

We were in town for the Holidays, staying at the Marriott Downtown. When we arrived to the hotel the hotel restaurant was closed so we needed to find a place to eat quickly. We googled, yelped, and tripadvised restaurants that were close to us - and Trumbull Kitchen kept popping up as a great spot so we gave it a shot. We were sooooooo HAPPY we went! It was fabulous! The food was great- we ordered mac n cheese for our daughter-we have the pickiest 5 year old and she loved it-thats saying something. We ordered spinach and artichoke dip-the BEST we ever had (better than Houstons). We also ordered an awesome chicken sandwich with tasty sweet potato fries, unbelievable short ribs, and this AMAZING chocolate dessert! Yes the food was fabulous but it was the service that stood out to both of us. We had the BEST and most caring server named Loren! She was amazing-ATTENTIVE, personable, made great recommendations, and so wonderful! Thank you for making our night so memorable Loren! WE LOVED TRUMBULL KITCHEN!!!! read more

The food is very good. It is not worth the absolutely horrible service to get to it though. Nothing against the people staffing the place but there must be zero management overseeing them. 7 of us sat down for dinner. The restaurant was not over crowded. We ordered wine and apps. The wine and drinks took FOREVER to get to the table. We were all starving. The bread also took forever. We got one small basket and ONE tiny tub of spread. I asked for more which came once our entrees were served. We then sat waiting for much too long for our plates to be cleared. The problem is that our waiter did everything. There seemed to be no bus boys or runners. The waiters are running around like mad men trying to get it all done. Just watching them is stressful. You actually felt guilty asking for something. If they could just get a manager in there who knows how to run a restaurant, it would be a great place. This is a part of the Max Restaurant Group so I expected a much better experience. read more

My husband and i have been to Trumbull Kitchen a few times before last night and have always had a wonderful time, food is great, staff and service always wonderful. So when i found out about a comedy show at Trumbull Kitchen for charity i was pretty excited to attend with my husband. $50 per ticket seemed pretty pricey for a comedy show there, but it went to charity so it really wasn't bad at all. But when we arrived, we were beyond disappointed. The show was supposed to start at 7, but it actually didn't begin till almost 40 minutes later. The sound was terrible, and we were sitting pretty closely, but there must have been trouble with the connection and mic because we could hardly hear anything. Drinks took a while and the apps that they were passing around took forever as well and it seemed like complete chaos. It was noisy and people kept yelling and talking loud while comedian was on stage. Even the manager (Jose?) was there, but he could not have been a worse guest to this show. He even got yelled at a few times by the comedian! He was loud and kept making a scene. It was pretty embarrassing to even watch the way some people were behaving. It was for a good cause and people were just incredibly rude and left their manners at the door. Our server was very sweet, but you could tell she felt overwhelmed, and i don't blame her. Dealing with everyone by yourself seemed a bit poorly planned on the managers part, but then again the manager was drunk the whole time, so what did he care?! And the comedians...thats a whole different story! I very rarely go out to dinner late on Sundays because of an early start to my work week on Monday and the only good thing that came out of last night was donating that money to charity. -Very disappointed. read more

A group of us visiting Hartford for a conference had dinner at this place for the first time and again for lunch, which was recommended to us by several local residents. We are glad we followed their recommendation. They have an impressive menu with a variety of appealing and unique cuisine. The weather was great, so we opted to sit outside, which has a great location. Our server was named Sean, who was friendly, knowledgeable of all the menu items, attentive to our table and others, and overall ensured that we had the best possible time while we were there dining and conversing. He also was helpful in providing information about the local area, including other types of venues to visit. The service was prompt, the prices were reasonable, the food was delicious, and the ambiance was excellent. Near the end, a couple came and sat at one of the outside tables and subsequently left, apparently since they were not "getting service". The problem was that you cannot just seat yourself at a table outside and expect to get service; indeed, there are clear signs posted letting folks know that they need to go indoors first to be seated. Moreover, by that time, Sean had already been closed out and not serving any more tables. Despite their comments, he was still very polite to them. read more
