I've never had and really wanted to see what they hype was all about. The owner was super nice, and the person on the phone (lady) was so sweet and put my order in for two. I'm so glad I went with 2 not 3 because these things are HUGE! As big as my head/profile. I really enjoyed eating them. So crunchy and just something new for me. They did taste like lumpia for me - not Shanghai but the actual eggroll kind. The ends of the empanadas were the best part in My opinion. OMG' I can eat that part all day lol. Also, I was so surprised (spoiler alert) about the fried egg inside. It made the empanada like a breakfast burrito! Lol so good The actual restaurant is in a strip mall type area with other cultural restaurants, and loved the Filipino displays and decorations. Love that. And the owner told me he was from Ilocos where they learned how to cook these. They had the hot Buffett with the traditional foods, and I liked that they had goat papaitan. I was tempted to buy but didn't. I did end up with cassava cake. Oh, that brings back good old memories of my mom making this! Thank you HERITAGE! Love the name too!!!

Finally checked out West Hill Deli! Absolutely loved their food and ambiance…read more For food, we got the adobo pork belly (comes with macaroni salad, rice, and vegetables on the side) and the pandan fried chicken (comes with rice and veggies on the side). Pandan was super crispy and rice was soft, not mushy. Adobo was rich in garlic and in smoky and sweet flavor. Love they kept the fat on some adobo pieces. Each dish was just enough for us to finish for breakfast. For drinks, we ordered the calamansi juice and calamansi iced tea. Both taste great. Side notes: You order up front, bring your table number, and sit wherever you like. They will bring you your food. Once youre done, please put your food away in the back, which is located on the left hand side of the deli if youre facing the deli at the entryway. It was busy on a Sunday around noon. A few were available but was filled quickly after about half an hour of us arriving. People tend to spend time here. About an hour if youre just there to have a quick meal, but families were gathering and spending time with no rush which i loved. No waitress or waiter to check on you, just only to bring you your food which took a reasonable 2 minutes for drinks and about 10 - 15 for food. Overall, we definitely recommend!

I also tried the garlic fried rice with longanisa and eggs, which was really good too. The longanisa had that nice sweet-savory balance, and the garlic rice was fragrant and comforting, though I'd still pick the sisig if I had to choose between the two. The ube pancakes were delicious soft, slightly sweet, and definitely a fun treat. Fair warning though, they will leave your teeth a little purple for a bit but honestly worth it. I also got the ube coffee and... YUM. Such a good combo with the pancakes. Overall, everything was solid and full of flavor. I'd definitely come back, especially for that pork sisig. Tita is definitely cooking in the back you can taste it.

We also shared the combo silog which was a great way to sample more of the menu. I enjoyed the garlic rice and ilocos especially. The diner feels so cozy and homey - old photos of the owner and customers and magnets his guests left are a nice touch. Friendly and attentive service despite the busyness.

You order at the front before being seated which means food arrives shortly after sitting down. With that noted, I wouldn't return to wait that long. First visit, to try a relatively famous spot, sure. Inside is a bit tight, but conversation can be had. My friends got the lumpia-silog and bistek-silog. Lumpia was tasty, but not particularly outstanding. Bistek was dry. The beef was tough to chew, seasoned alright on the outside but likely overcooked if not old. I opted for the oxtail silog which was delicious but pricey. Oxtail Silog - for $29, this plate definitely gets a double take. After waiting in the hour line, I figured I should commit for a tasty meal. Oxtail comes in a side bowl alongside a bit of hearty broth which the rice absorbs well. Meat is tender, falls off the bone, but pulling around oxtail bones isn't the simplest, so definitely have to bite around crevices. All in all, this plate was delicious but think it comes with a huge tourist tax I've had better value for oxtail plates. Ube Pancake Stack - four sizeable pancakes. Some pictures, including my own, don't do these justice. I can definitely get behind the hype. They're drenched in a rich ube sauce and there's plenty to go around. Honestly the ube flavor is present on the pancakes, but it feels relatively faint because the sauce is extremely sweet and flavorful, minimizing the pancake taste and expanding the gap between flavors. That being said, I think I would enjoy the pancakes with less sauce (or preferably, on the side).

I learned that this Brick & Mortar started as a food truck, now has a restaurant in the Beacon Hill area near the rail . The business name CheBogz is the owner's parent's nickname. There was a line when we arrived and they are very busy, there are 2 staff working taking orders and delivering food, be patient. Place your order at counter & bus your own table . Everything on the menu and the specials sounds great, I was happy to see they have a P.L.R plate ($11.) which is Pancit, Lumpia (6) and Rice, this is my all time favorite combo or any Filipino's favorite combo too. hehe. This is the best combo ever!! Ended up with the Plate of Nation combo to share Chicken Adobo (fried) with the 6 lumpia and plate of the Island Combo which came with pork ribs, shrimp, longanisa, Calamansi drink and Cassava Cake. The verdict, Wow. really tasty Filipino food, way better that the over-rated one at Pikes. I like the fried chicken adobo style with the gravy , the pancit, the lumpia, longanisa, ribs, everything was so good, major comfort foods while at Seattle. The calamansi drink was so refreshing. I had cassava before but this one hits different. @$8. a slice, it was so worth it. Before we left I went back to get another slice to go.
