I am delighted to highly recommend Maxine's Floral. I ordered a bouquet from Maxine's Floral this past Monday for delivery to my long-time friend Alicia. Alicia and I have been friends for over 30 years, since we were kids in the same class at school. Alicia had messaged me that her Father had passed away, so I wanted to send her flowers and bring her a home-cooked meal. I had hesitated at the space on Maxine's website where it asked me to put in my friend's phone number, because Alicia and I always communicate via Facebook Messenger and I don't actually have Alicia's phone number. So I put in my phone number instead. Maxine called me and I explained the situation to Maxine. Maxine was very professional and helpful when I spoke with her on the phone. In addition to the phone number issue, I was also a bit worried because the flower delivery was initially scheduled for a Monday and no one was home to receive the delivery at the time that it was delivered, and Maxine's website said that Maxine's floral is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. So I was concerned that if the delivery had to be postponed to Thursday or Friday, the flowers might end up being a bit droopy by then. When I explained my concern to Maxine, Maxine reassured me and told me that they can sometimes schedule re-deliveries for Tuesdays and Wednesdays. At Maxine's suggestion, I messaged my friend Alicia on Facebook Messenger and I asked Alicia to call Maxine to arrange a re-delivery time for her flowers. When I delivered the home-cooked meal to Alicia tonight, Alicia gave me a beautiful Thank You card that she had made using a photo of a few of the blooms in Maxine's flower arrangement. Alicia is so creative! Alicia loved the flowers, and she received them on Tuesday, even though Maxine's Floral is closed that day. I felt very taken care of while I was speaking with Maxine. Her customer service was superb, and Alicia loved Maxine's floral arrangement. I have attached photos of Alicia's Thank You card to me, since it included a photo of a few of the blooms in her arrangement and it also included some of her thoughts about the flowers. I'm very happy with both the customer service from Maxine and the floral arrangement. If the customer service was not as good as it was I could have imagined that these issues may have added stress to the situation, but there was no stress added, only stress taken away. I would most definitely order flowers from Maxine again. Thank you, Maxine, for helping me to bring comfort to a wonderful friend in her time of grief. read more

I called Maxine in the late morning of a Saturday to see if she could pull together a simple wedding bouquet for my wedding the next day, and she did not disappoint. That morning she bought the flowers fresh, and she made a perfect, beautiful bouquet of nine, perfect red roses, hand tied. It was simple yet exquisite. I was even more delighted when I went to her store to pick it up. Full of fun and fanciful kitsch, it was a playground for the senses. Maxine herself is charming and unique, and I will definitely keep her in mind if I need more flowers. It is worth mentioning that it was not cheap to use her services. While I don't order bouquets regularly, and therefore have no idea what an average cost for a simple bouquet of roses is, I almost choked at the final bill. I wound up being out of town for my wife's birthday on a job interview and her birthday falls close enough to valentines day that I needed to make a big sweeping gesture with very good flowers. Looking toi get the best, I searched on yelp and found Maxines and even ignored their high prices assuming I would get something spectacular out. Instead, I wound up paying double what I would have normally paid (the arrangement cost just over $135) and wound up getting something that was not quite "full" and with flowers that seemed to be on their last legs. The whole arrangement had to be thrown out only 3 days later because so many of the flowers had wilted. Maybe I just had a one-off bad experience because I asked for something too specific (cala lilies and roses), but at the price asked I find it hard to forgive. read more

I love supporting local businesses and this one is beloved for all the right reasons. I have never been disappointed by the arrangements that Maxine has done whether I order a bouquet for sympathy or have her create 50 arrangements for a large event. Her selections are always fresh and unique. She takes input on look and feel and knocks it out of the park. This is NOT actually a review of Maxines Floral - It is a caution against anyone - including Maxines - using FTD to order flowers. Maxines is just the closest FTD Florist to where I wanted the flowers delivered - Zip 98125 What a messed up organization FTD Flowers is - and when you call to try and fix it - you get a person who is from a foreign country and you CANNOT understand her. Facts: Ordered flowers for my wife 2/13 - paid $221.26! Special girl - special day. Got an order receipt - had wrong address - I changed it and got an email confirming change had been made. So far, so good. Flowers were NOT delivered 2/13 - then I got a series of emails 1) that the item I had ordered was not available 2) Then, that the order had been delayed but, 3) Then an an email that it had been delivered - IT HAD NOT BEEN DELIVERED. I called this morning to figure out where it was! It took me 45 minutes with an ESL person - who never did tell me where it was - and said, she'd process a refund, Likelihood of getting a refund from FTD is about as likely as getting my wife some flowers from FTD. I contracted Maxine of Maxine's Floral and Gift to do all the flowers for my wedding in Oct. 06. Although the final tab was pricey, (think small used car "pricey") like I've always said, "Sometimes you have to pay more, to get more." (this was no exception) My wedding colors were chocolate brown and with touches of green. The floral arrangements (for church and reception) had everything from Belles of Ireland, hypericum berries, mini green mums, green hydrangeas, orchids mixed with TONS of white/cream flowers. AMAZING. GORGEOUS...STUNNING really. I have to say I got just what I wanted...elegant, organic floral design! Honestly, I am a "less is more" kind of gal, so the shop was a bit too crowded for me, but Maxine was very helpful and astoundingly creative. I was doing some very last minute shopping for my wedding anniversary. Um, actually it was the day of my anniversary. Anyway, I ended up here, because it was close to Ace Hardware where I was picking up the gift. I walked over to Maxines and the two ladies working at the time greeted me warmly. One of them said she had a few minutes to create something for me if I gave her an idea of what I wanted. I recognize that I completely lucked out that she had some time to make something on the spot for me. The arrangement was gorgeous and I couldn't be happier. Sadly, it's been awhile since I've also seen fresh and healthy flowers. Their friendliness and spot-on-service made it an even more pleasant experience. As an added bonus, they have a lot of cute items that they sell for women and children (soaps, jewelry, wrapping paper, cards, toys, etc.) that would make it easy for anybody needing to pick up a small gift with their flowers. I was on a secret mission and have to say that although I only bought a kooky air freshener and ordered flowers, I totally loved this place. It smelled EXACTLY like the FTD florist around the corner from my grandmother's house in San Francisco that I used to go to as a kid. Lots of things that I wanted...sparkly initial letters, funky decorated matchboxes, floral explosions of silliness and lots of pretty birds in and out of cages give the shop a fantasy quality. I even saw this cool plant I wanted that looked like green bubbles on a vine (what is that?). It's the only thing there that would go in our '50's house. We used Maxine for our Wedding on October 8. Maxine and my wife were friends growing up, so I know we received extra special attention, but for a guy who doesn't pay too close attention to flowers at weddings, I was very impressed. Arbors were set up in our back yard, creating a flower framed "altar" by our pond, and the arrangements through the house and seating area in the yard had just the right touch, elegant, full, colorful. My husband often times frequents Maxine's for special occasions. I can immediately tell upon receiving the flowers that they came from maxine's and not the grocery store or pike place. The arrangements are unique and kind of whimsical. They tend to pick flowers and colors that are in season, and my bouquet often times lasts well beyond a week or two. I know the arrangements are a little pricey, but they are well worth it for the quality! Granted I also really appreciate the quality of the $5-$10 bouquets from pike place, but these just kind of have more of the "I planned something special far in advance look" vs the "oh crap..I forgot and need to find something quick look." It was my partner's birthday...once again I'd worked too late. Like other times, this time I went to Maxine's. It was 5:45--they close at 6:00. I found the gifts I wanted by 5:59, but to my disappointment there was a problem with my credit card, and I'd left my debit card at home. Thinking of my partner's disappointment, the pressure was awful. But upon hearing that it was my someone special's birthday, these kind, wonderful women (one was Maxine) stayed with me for over an hour struggling along with me to resolve the problem (a security glitch) until finally the transaction was settled. I raced home with an armload of gorgeously arranged flowers, sumptuous chocolates, a lovely one-of-a-kind jewelry box, and a very funny card just ahead of my partner who was no more the wiser and absolutely entranced with my (obviously:)) well considered choices. Lest you imagine this as the only time Maxine and her fab crew has rescued an important event in my life (yes, due to my distractability), it is not. Since that first visit, they have also roundly saved a couple Valentine's Days and at least 2 more birthday celebrations. Running late or not, if you want perfection in a gift that is artfully wrapped, beyond-the-pale customer service, a laugh or two in the process, and referrals for just about anything, Maxine's is the go-to place in this town. I live in the neighborhood and try to support local small businesses. I was out of town for my daughter's birthday and so I ordered a bouquet and she promised to deliver it that night on her way home from the store. I called home several times to find out it never made it. Then the next day she basically admitted that she just forgot about it. Then finally delivered a bouquet a day late in the evening. While she added a few extra treats I was only given a $6 credit on a $50 bouquet. I won't be supporting this business again and am disappointed that she did not fulfill my order on a very special day when I was not there to celebrate my daughter's birthday. read more
