Thank you, Yelpers! Sending flowers out-of-state is always dicey. I generally feel ripped off because I'm not there to see if what I ordered is what arrived or to note how long the flowers last. In this case, LaVassar did a lovely job delivering a bouquet to my friend on her birthday. They send me a photo and so did my friend - and, they matched! It was a good amount of flowers for $50 and a week after delivery, they still look fresh. Only downside? I specifically asked to leave out the vase, so I could get more flowers. They included a vase, but, as I said, it was a good amount of flowers, so I didn't feel cheated. The $10 delivery fee also is awesome! read more

I've been buying flowers for my girlfriend for years but I've never felt compelled to write a review until now. WOW. This florist is great. Good selection, prompt delivery, great communication. The best part is that the flowers look as good if not better than the pictures. The arrangement looks nice when you get it, but it continues to bloom! They send you a picture of the arrangement prior to delivery! Brilliant. Slightly higher base cost, but you get every cent's worth. Highly recommend. Could not ask for anything more of a florist. Can't recommend this florist enough! Peace Lily was exactly was pictured on website. They went above and beyond with delivery. When they went to deliver no one was home and because of the cold snap & downpour we were experiencing they didn't want to leave it on front porch. No answer when they called recipient, they simultaneously called me to let me know and left plant with a neighbor, then left message for recipient. I can't get ENOUGH of these photos- JoAnn coordinated with my Aunt to a freaking mind blowingly perfect wedding day. The bouquet, boutineers, corsages, loose flowers, and the table arrangement were PERFECT. While I am not a client I have been a recipient of flowers from LaVassar for several years. In the past I have always received my order and communication along with it. This year I received a call from a stranger saying they had received my flowers. Not from the florist, mind you. I called LaVassar and gave them the correct address. They said they would make sure I received my flowers at the correct address and they would call to follow up. Having heard nothing for 2 days I called again and spoke with Judy. She said they'd been given the wrong address and I had requested the flowers not be sent for a week. I explained that I made no such request and was hung up on. I called back and continued to get push back from Judy. She said leaving a review would be 'unfair' because they have excellent reviews. I became agitated by the inaccuracy of their information and she hung up on me again. Here's what I know from my years in customer relations: It is unprofessional to blame the recipient of a gift for any errors on the part of the giver, if that is the case. It is unprofessional to say you will call a client to resolve an issue and not do so. It is not okay to essentially threaten someone about leaving a review on their experience. Own your mistakes and provide the customer service you say you're so well known for. There are SO many wonderful florists in Seattle...I'd recommend literally anyone other than LaVassar. read more

Back in the day, this was my hood for about 15 plus years. The La Vassar family lived just down the street from us back then. My dad frequented this place, he seemed to always be in and out of the dog house... I have used them over the years since, ever since moving out on my own and I must say, even though I haven't been inside their little shop in many years, I place my order over the phone, they still know or at least "act" like they know our last name when I place an order. Prices have always been solid, and I mean seriously, walk in and ask for a $35 arrangement and you'll come out looking like a rock star! They also do an outstanding delivery service. Truly one of the best reasons to do business with a home-spun family run place like this is they care about their customers, provide a great local service to the neighborhood, and put together some really outstanding flower pieces. I worked with LaVassar for my wedding flowers and had an exceptional experience with Joanne and her team. From beginning to end, she worked patiently with me as my vision for my flowers evolved over time, always happy and smiling and helpful. Some highlights: 1. My bouquet. I know I'm biased, but I do think my bridal bouquet was the prettiest bouquet ever. I wanted her to copy this exact bouquet that the bride in this photoshoot is holding: http://burnettsboards.com/2013/10/colorful-eco-chic-wedding/ Joanne expertly informed me that the roses in the picture are rambling roses with short life span, so she recommended I go with spray roses in shades of red, raspberry pink, orange, and fuchsia. I pushed back because I wanted the deep purple roses as in the photo which only grow as rambling roses, but she pushed back. She also reminded me that the shades of roses vary by location and season anyway, and that she would do her best to find roses in the shades I wanted. The end result was a stunning bouquet that was even sturdier and more resilient than the one in the photo, and scaled to size for my short frame (I'm 5'1"). 2. The alter displays. These were equally amazing. I have OCD tendencies and told her to not use certain flowers whose petals gross me out, and she heard my wishes. She used select flowers that were approved by me and in my budget. 3. The centerpieces. Just as beautiful as the others. And larger than promised. 4. She arrived at the venue to set everything up 45 minutes ahead of schedule. When I showed up, she was already wrapping things up and putting the finishing touches. Daughter explained what she was looking for (less traditional, more garden party) and Judy (LaVassar) came through 100%. The flowers were lovely and fresh looking in spite of the temp being in the mid 90's that day. Judy had checked back to review and advise on the final arrangement combination, colors which was most appreciated. They even crafted a flower collar for the bride's dog (yes, the dog was in the wedding party).
