We didn't know anything about this place. We had driven past this block hundreds of times since we moved to Schaumburg three years ago, and never knew about Maxfields - how in the world did that happen? So, we decided to try it! On a cool Saturday morning, we parked and were quickly greeted as we literally got to the restaurant minutes after they opened at 7 AM. We very quickly ordered coffee and a small orange juice - and looked over a very nicely done menu - with very reasonable prices! Hubby got a number one combo - which included the small juice - natch. I ordered the number three combo and a side of sourdough toast. One thing we noticed was that we both got sausage and bacon not just one piece each but two each along with our combination. Mine was a French toast combo that included scrambled eggs and the sausage and bacon-wonderful! The flavor of everything was just spot on! My side of toast was warm and fully buttered just the way I love it! Our waitress had worked there since they opened up 27 years ago - can you believe that? That was pretty cool. All around great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We've been here many times and this is the first time we ordered mashed potatoes. I could tell upon the first bite that they were instant mashed potatoes, which was disappointing to be served in a restaurant. This is the reason I took off one point. read more

Usually come for dinner but decided to try dinner. I felt very rushed and like the waitress was hoping we would finish up so they can close. We got there 1 hour before they officially closed. It was a very uncomfortable feeling. She was doing the same to the other 2 tables that came in also. As for the food. I tried the Chicken kiev. It was good and tasted like what I make at home, but they put a gravy on top. I didn't think the gravy was necessary. The side of vegetables were soft like they were sitting for a long time. We love Maxfield's! My husband used to bring me here when we first started dating and even though we now live in Michigan it's the first place we come when we're back in Schaumburg. Dimitri (the owner) and his staff are so welcoming; the waitresses fantastic, and the busboys do a great job keeping the place clean. We love it here! Highly recommend the country fried steak, pancakes, or corned beef hash. But really, any breakfast item we've ever held has been fantastic. read more

I don't remember the last time I woke up to get breakfast. I met with my friends on a Sunday morning for some hearty breakfast. It's in a large plaza with a big parking space. Although the place was busy, it wasn't hard to find a parking spot. This restaurant gives off a homey and classic breakfast vibe. I went to Maxfield's on a Sunday morning with my family! It's a classic, old-school, low-maintenance breakfast joint with cheap but tasty breakfast items. This place was POPPIN on a Sunday morning (prime time for breakfast restaurants) but it's a spacious place (also with lots of parking) so we got seated immediately. Our server was a nice older lady - the service here was wonderful. Everyone was so sweet and our waters were constantly filled! We all basically got omelettes - I got the chicken, tomato, mushroom and broccoli omelette, my mom got the vegetarian omelette, my dad got the corned beef hash omelette, and my sister got breakfast quesadillas. Our meals were good - nothing extraordinary but that's usually how it is at old-school diners/breakfast joints, ya know? It was still yummy enough for me to come back!! Every once in a while you come across a place that feels like an extension of your family and home. For us, it's Maxfield's restaurant in Schaumburg. Upon finding out that Maxfield's is back open for takeout or delivery, I had to order the breakfast we've been missing for weeks. Dining here in the past, the service has always been super fast and served up exactly how we've ordered it, by friendly and attentive servers. My coffee cup (and heart) was always kept warm while eating at Maxfield's. And the owners and hosts are so caring no matter how busy it gets. They always make time to greet you and thank you on your way out the door. Today, I was greeted so warmly and thanked for being a customer. Both the woman who helped me and I were tearing up as I shared what Maxfield's means to me and the memories of meals shared with dear family and friends here. The quiet morning conversations, summer celebration meals, carnations on Mother's Day and so on. Wanted to try this place for a long time, the wait wasn't worth it. Three of us went in for breakfast, we ordered and two of us had hash browns as part of our order and one ordered a side. We are a crispy hash brown family and the server noticed it end commented, I see how mom makes em at home. Well we received them, no they weren't crispy and we were shorted one. We wanted them crispy and the comment was well it will be awhile....huh? Fine take the side off but take this back and make it crispy. Well she brought it back and yes crispy! It did take some time...She let us know she had indeed taken it off... Time to pay...you can probably guess...it hadn't been taken off and her comment about not hearing the crispy part was confusing because she wrote it on the bill! We commented to the manager after I had paid, the other service had been very good but your server lied. Not once but twice...not misspoke outright lied. Amazing service here! We had a nice lady as our waitress and she was so sweet it felt like she really knew what she was doing. Not often does this big mouth woman get rendered speechless at an eatery... but OM effin G! Let's begin with the service. We walked in the door and was greeted with a booming "good morning" by Ms. Ruthie. That set the tone for the most amazing breakfast experience we've ever had. We had the Meat Lover's Skillet. Both Dave and I. Cooked to perfection (I like my eggs almost burnt; they did not disappoint). The atmosphere and decor were cozy and homey. Clean is an understatement. Gus, the manager, greeted us as soon as he walked in the door. To sum it up ... we'll be back for breakfast before we head back to Detroit tomorrow morning. I can't comment on their non-breakfast items, but I can only assume they are good as week. Ate here in person once pre pandemic, but have had to go all the other times. My wife and I wanted to get some breakfast, and we found this location. First appearance, cute little location. We were greeted immediately, seated immediately, and everyone greeted us with a smile. I ordered the #1 with all bacon, and my wife ordered the eggs Benedict. The food was good, but the service was outstanding. The pancakes were a little too thick, the bacon was pretty thin, and the biscuits and gravy were lacking some flavor. Schaumburg is just a lovely community. This gem, in a strip mall, was packed for Father's Day, but my husband and I were able to be seated quickly. The hostess was a star, friendly, polite, and attentive to everyone who walked through the door. There was a brief wait for our waitress, but she greeted us telling us there would be a wait. The breakfast was delicious and fast. We were seated near a window in front of a pond, which added to the beautiful of the morning. Had to tell hostess how awesome she is! I would not recommend this place to anyone if your looking for a tasty breakfast go somewhere else but stay away from this place. The staff was friendly and tentative, they got our orders correct and they would come to the table to see if we needed anything else. What was a real let down was the food. We ordered our food and 6 min didn't even go by and the food was ready. Our dishes tasted like the food was microwaved and tasteless. Even adding black pepper and salt to the food didn't help. Solid breakfast spot in Schaumburg. The restaurant is in a strip mall so it doesn't have much curb appeal, and it looks like a typical diner inside, but the food is solid. I split the farmhouse skillet and the Greek skillet with my girlfriend. I really enjoyed both. Neither were skillets you need to stop what you're doing and get here now type skillets, but they were both solid for what they were. The farmhouse came with sausage, gravy, has brownsand veggies. The sausage was a good breakfast sausage, almost like a brat. The gravy was good, and the scrambled eggs on top were slightly over cooked for my liking, but not like a typical diner where they burn the heck out of them. This came with pancakes which were very typical. The Greek skillet came with gyro meat, tomatoes, tzatziki and hash browns. The tomatoes weren't great, but the tzatziki was super good. I would like the gyro meat to be sliced in bigger pieces, but still a good dish. We ordered potato pancakes with this one, and these were also pretty good. I had a bite of my cousin's burger, and it was surprisingly solid. A good lunch option if you're up for it. All in all, don't kill yourself to get here, but if you find yourself here on a Sunday morning, you won't be disappointed. This place is ok, I guess. We have been here many times, but not because it is so great. My in-laws like it. Tonight I got the breakfast combo #4. The sausage was almost burnt. The eggs were cooked over medium, like I ordered, but crispy all over and not great tasting. The biscuits and gravy were pitiful. Small, chewy, thin gravy with little flavor. It was bad. The service was slow. I didn't get the apple juice that came with my meal. I didn't really want it, but he asked me what juice I wanted. I have had decent meals before here. FIRST TIMER PREGNANT LADY HERE. Food was but the service was awful. Our server CHERYL Was extremely rude. She made us ordering seem like such a big pain in her ass. I asked for syrup and she said I had to wait a while because there was 4 people in front of me and went off complaining about how her boss is an asshole and doesn't do anything. I understand if they're short handed but we as customers didn't come to hear you nag. We came to fill out bellies. And be treated nicely with respect. I felt like such a burden for asking for a fork and condiments. She brought my syrup 15 minutes after I finished my pancakes... I felt so intimidated by her. Stopped in for breakfast and love this place. I'm here from NC and this place reminds me of home; all the good stuff, no frills, and reasonably priced. Everyone was very nice and the atmosphere was pleasant. I especially loved the plump little link sausages and the little old lady who served me (sorry don't remember her name). They had a breakfast buffet at my hotel but it was $23! I never need that much breakfast. I will very likely come back here tomorrow on my way out. read more

Happy 34th Breakfast Outing To Me. Such a wonderful experience attending Maxfields for the first time. Let me start off by saying Ruthie the waitress is a jewel. Very sweet lady who can hold a conversation and went above and beyond to acknowledge that it was my birthday. Great food selection and I really enjoy places that are not for the glamorous look but the mom and pop vibe. My veggie skillet was fantastic, along with my pancake's which had a candle lit for me ( big smile ). Good batch of coffee and overall the staff gave off great energy. Wow...just shocked and extremely disappointed. Ordered the Belt Buster for take out (10oz chopped sirloin steak, melted cheese, bacon, lettuce, and tomato served on garlic bread). When I got home and we all opened our food, I couldn't believe what I saw. My Belt Buster was simply a hamburger patty with a slab of American cheese on soggy, disgusting garlic bread. Nothing else besides tomatoes (under the fries to make the fries soggy as well). I decided to call, as I've been coming here for years. The older gentleman (I believe the owner) answered. I told him what I received and he told me that is exactly what the Belt Buster is. I read him the menu description and he still argued with me. I didn't know chopped sirloin steak was just a hamburger patty?! He told me if I didn't like it, bring it back and I'll get my money back. No apology. Just extremely defensive.
