Amazing selection of cigars. I came looking for the Davidoff Nicaraguan and sure enough they had several boxes in various sizes. You can find nearly any cigar you want here and the prices are as near online level as you can find in a B&M. The smoking lounge did leave a little wanting though. No TV's on and the chair I first sat in was missing a wheel and lurched to one side. The lounge as a whole could use a little TLC. It looks like it was pretty nice at one time though. Overall great shop to buy cigars of all kinds and decent lounge if you just need a no frills place to smoke. read more

If you live in the area and have any interest in cigars, you must visit Maxamar. The humidor room is immense and cavernous. I've never seen so many cigars in one place in my life. The staff is wonderful, they offered any assistance if I wanted and then left me alone to explore and enjoy. My favorite spot to buy for several reasons. One, they stay open late, usually till 11pm! For me that shows dedication to customer satisfaction. Second, their selection is tops around, if not best in OC. And lastly, their prices are super fair as opposed to those other shops who gauge you for 4-5$ per stick on top of wholesale. Ok, I don't do a lot of reviews. In fact, I only do a review if I'm moved by something extraordinary (good or bad). I'd been to Maxamar's a few times early in my cigar smoking process. I didn't really know then what I was doing or buying, but they were always very courteous and patient with explanations and suggestions. Over the last couple of years, I became much more involved in the hobby and know have a fairly extensive collection of smokes. However, I have typically ordered my cigars over the (wait for it....) internet. Yes I said it. The internet. I did this under the assumption that the prices were substantially cheaper online than in a B&M. Boy was I wrong! I have been on a search for a fairly rare cigar that is out of production. I wanted it not only because it was an outstanding cigar, but I had an emotional connection with it (I was gifted one by a friend that had passed away a few months earlier). I'd found the cigar on the internet, but it was pretty pricey. I'd certainly never seen it in a cigar lounge. Maxamar not only had it, but it was the original release (not the re-release), and their price was cheaper than the internet - and that was before shipping!! I'm definitely done with being a primarily internet cigar purchaser. This place really lives up to its 5-star rating. My only regret is that I can't give them more...!!! read more

I live in LA and make the drive to Orange County once a week just to go to this shop. The best selection and the best prices in SoCal and I've been to every shop. There are plenty of good places if you are a casual smoker, but Maxamars is THE PLACE if you are a serious enthusiast. The guys at the shop are all helpful and very knowledgable. The locals that you will meet if you stay for a smoke are all good guys. No bullshit and no attitude which u can sometimes run into at cigar lounges. A note about prices: I support local tobacconists even though the best prices can often be found online. I don't mind paying a little extra to help these local businesses that are the heart of the cigar lifestyle/hobby. But there's a limit to what I can comfortably overpay. It doesn't take much research to figure out the national (pre local tax) price of your favorite sticks. Maxamars ALWAYS prices their cigars in alignment with this national MSRP which is a pretty cool thing to do in Southern CA where taxes on all businesses are famously high. There are shops in the LA area where you can observe prices routinely 30, 50 or even 100% over MSRP. I used to think that high Cali and LA taxes made super-high cigar prices necessary until I found Maxamars. In LA, big easy and cigar sanctuary also price fairly. Pricing isn't the only thing to consider when choosing a shop, but when the variations in price are so dramatic, it really pays to stick with a shop like maxamars. There are tons of places to go if you just need a cheap stogie for a round of golf. Who cares if you pay a couple extra bucks as long as the cigar is properly humidified? But if you are a serious cigar aficionado or collector with a bigger cigar budget, then you MUST go to Maxamars because they have the good stuff and they take care of their customers. read more

Wandered into this Cigar Lounge and was instantly amazed by the whole comfort level I felt.Lots of friendly people watching Basketball game and enjoying a Stogie.Ventured into humidor and was at first glance thought decent selection than I realized OMG still another huge room full of Cigars.The selection was by far the best in the OC Ghurka, La Flora,RP I mean everything you can think of.Felt Cigar Fest in Vegas so many sticks so little time.But I plan on fixing that problem by returning every opportunity possible.And oh yah the prices are by far the best in the OC. read more

Came in today to restock on my cigars and received such a warm welcome when I walked in and I love that the employees don't bug/follow you while browsing through the huge selection that is offered in the humidor. The sign on this place just says "Cigars" and it appears quite on the meager side from the outside. Im not sure where the Maximar Ultimate Cigar lounge came from on the listing. However Ive smoked cigars avidly for the last decade. Ive been to most of the shops in Southern California & This place is BY FAR the best! The humidor is easily double the size of any other shop within 100 miles. Not to mention that if they dont have it, it basically doesn't exist. The staff is always helpful and knowledgeable. The prices are honestly quite reasonable for cigars. I drive 45 minutes each way twice a month to visit this place. Its well worth checking out. read more
