Eventually, he said he only reshingled it, and admitted that flat roofs are not in his skill set. He would not have been hired had he said at any point that he cannot and does not know how to do flat roofs. At no point did he state that he was only putting shingles on the flat roof, nor that he would in anyway handle it differently. Further, nothing on the contract says such. He claimed "it does not say entire roof". When a partial refund was requested, he said he would wait till he's served-- boasting that a lawsuit will take a year. A few days after they finished with the roof, he was called back because something was visibly wrong with the back part. He admitted that they could have done a better job, and had them come back out to supposedly fix it. He literally said "it doesn't say entire roof" and could yet couldn't understand why I was yelling. Who would hire someone to do anything and expect that they only do half of it because it doesn't specify "entire".

Options: Roman gave me the option to choose one of 3 types/grade of shingle replacement. (Another roofer only had one option). After picking the quality of the shingles I had plenty of color options. Cost: The estimate for the most expensive shingles from Roman was comparable to an estimate I got from another roofer. The final cost was within the range of the initial estimate. Completion: We were hoping to get this done in the early winter but the village wouldn't grant a permit until spring (but at least we tried.. the other roofer would not consider starting the job that late in the year). Roman was able to get a tarp over my roof's bald spot and that stayed for the winter. Once spring arrived we were able to get our permit and complete the project within a few weeks. It looks great. Communication: Roman was awesome at keeping me in the loop and responding to my inquiries.

The moss was forcing some of our shingles to buckle. We also inherited two large areas that were 'repaired' at some point in the past, and those repairs were near failure. Fast forward a bit and we received four estimates for a roof replacement/ updated roof system from different contractors. UV Exteriors' estimate was the most competitively priced by far. We decided to have both the roof on our house and our garage replaced. Overall the sales process was very informative and helpful to us making a decision on our roof; we liked the salespeople from UV Exteriors. The shingles that we had on our roof were apparently called 3-tab shingles and all of the estimating companies stated that they either don't install them or manufacturers no longer make them. So we opted for an upgraded shingle with relief. Our new shingles have copper imbedded in them which prevents the growth of moss. The shingles also have a 50-year warranty, which is a big plus. The UV Exteriors crew arrived sometime before 8am, and they got to work right away. A complete tear-off, and a new installation took a single day by the crew. The crew was kind! Most importantly the installation was wonderfully done AND the mess that a roof tear-off creates was completely managed by the crew. We have not found a single errant shingle, nail, piece of plastic or other debris in our yard or our neighbor's yard. The roofing crew did an amazing job!
